This shop is pretty small but has an excellent selection. You'll find bestsellers alongside some classic treasures and unusual lesser-known finds. The only problem is that as an independent shop, they don't offer the discounts that others do. The staff are always friendly and totally helpful. I went in there looking for a copy of Pessoa recently and they ordered it within a few days. They also accept book tokens if you happened to get any for christmas (yes, I am a geek, but I love getting that present!).

An entire wall is dedicated to monographs of particular architects from Ando to Zumthor and everything in between. Then there are sections on self-built architecture, landscape architecture, urbanism, theory, structures and materials, regional/national architecture, and so on. Also there are some issues of international journals (like Japan Architect) that go beyond just "The West" as canon. So that's nifty. This is also a good place to pick up lit that is being published by the Bartlett or other local architecture producers. Everything is very well organized and there's a "RIBA recommends" section as well if you are lost and would like some guidance. It'd be nice to see an even broader selection of theory/academic texts by top and emerging scholars in the field, but that's just being demanding.

The sales staff are friendly (the Scottish guy is my favourite!) and really helpful. The paperbacks are 50 p each or you can get 5 paperbacks for £2! They've got a large backroom with a number of children's books, cookbooks, nonfiction and textbooks carefully catalogued. They've got a number of classics on hand as well, so if you need a text for a class it's a great place to pick them up. If you ask, they have a shabby but serviceable toilet in the back room, it's one of the few places near the station that has a public toilet.

Very helpful lady who works there keen to offer local advice and expertise on the classical music scene in Wandsworth. Also sells a range of instruments, does repair jobs, can order sheet music, and supplies choirs. How often have I sat at home racking my brains for the nearest choir rental place. Well, now I don't have to. I know where it is. Really good to see places like this thriving, there aren't enough classical music shops around in our digital/computer-playing age. I say put down your online hang-man, re-arrange your Ying and Yang, and find your inner Lang Lang.
