She was condescending, dismissive, and seemed uninterested in even the basic details of my situation. Rather than showing professionalism or empathy, she spoke to me in a way that made me feel belittled and unwelcome -- a stark contrast to the level of courtesy I expected from a reputable law office. First impressions matter, and based on this experience, I would strongly caution others to think twice before contacting this firm. I reached out to them several times over the past 3+ months. They kept telling me that I was on Mr. Whitney's list to call back. It was only after an email i sent stating how disappointed I was in their lack of professionalism and customer service that he finally called me back. I asked numerous times "if they can't support me due to being too busy to just let me know. " They ensured me that they could help me but kept stringing me along with zero contact. From the get go, the Whitney Law Firm gave me precise instructions on how to handle my case. I purchased a car online from a dealership in Maryland ( I'm from California). They hid a major mechanical flaw, making the vehicle worthless. I was guided to Whitney for representation. Before even representing me, they told me where to file a case with the Maryland MVA. Whitney, LLP took 2 months to respond to an I information request on a bad car deal. By the time they contacted me I had already moves in another direction for help. Their information was very minimal with no real game plan and they wanted a $3,500 retainer and $400/hr. You don't take 2 months to respond to an inquiry with no clear direction for a bad deal, that's just not good business. read more

Contacted Whitney, LLP for a legal question regarding automotive fraud. Spoke to their receptionist and was told I would receive a call back. I had to contact them several times to just state they will review the case when I provide them a $3,000 retainer. Hourly rate is $450 which is egregious for a small private practice that doesn't provide expert litigation. I agree with other reviewers - Worst law firm I had contact with. Don't waste your time and money. Go to small claims court. read more

Very disappointed in what felt like a 'bait and switch' experience for us. Ours is a cautionary tale of 'consumer beware' as this legal office charges $500 p/hr, so make triple sure you actually have a case before retaining. I spent 10-15 minutes on the phone with a partner getting a consultation. I was told we had a 'good case' for mortgage fraud which was the reason behind moving forward with the $5K retainer. After making the payment, I heard nothing from anyone ant this office until I reached out 3 weeks later just to get any type of acknowledgment. It took almost two months for us to get an email telling us what we needed to provide. I then provided all requested documents in an organized binder hoping to save time and money only to receive a letter a week later stating we didn't really have a case. They billed just shy of $2000 from the retainer for the analysis. Outrageous in my opinion especially after we lost nearly 2 months waiting to be pertinent followed by being charged two grand to learn nothing that couldn't have been established in the original phone consultation. This was our experience if it helps anyone else make a decision. read more

A few months back, I got in a car accident in Washington, D.C. After the car accident, I had multiple issues that needed to be resolved from hitting another vehicle. I immediately contacted the firm and worked with one of the attorneys, Daniel Whitney, Jr. I can honestly say that contacting the firm was the best decision I could have made. Whitney, LLP has helped my family over a ten year+ period with several legal matters, including a case against a major national car rental company that tried to defraud us--and just recently, in a battle against a national moving company that held a pod of our possessions hostage and refused to deliver it to our home after a cross-country move. In the case of the moving pod, the company supervisor insisted repeatedly that the company would not deliver the pod to our driveway where we could unload it at our leisure, as agreed in the contract. Instead, the supervisor invited our attorney to contact him to be told why at OUR expense, we would have to rent a huge truck and hire workers to unload the pod in a remote location, 40 miles from our home, into a truck, and then drive the re-loaded items to our home and unload them a second time ourselves. Despite the supervisor's urging us to have our attorney contact him, within 24 hours of Dan Whitney Jr.'s emailed letter to this supervisor, the company not only resolved the issue, but ended up providing workers to unload the pod for us at our home! It was both Dan's knowledge of Maryland Consumer Protection law and effective tactics in his general approach that got us such amazing results--and so quickly. In other words, Dan didn't just fix the problem, but we ended up better off than if the company had just done what it promised originally. I cannot say enough good things about both Dan Whitney Sr and Dan Whitney Jr. after having their help with several legal matters of different types. I'm very happy with them. I had a bad car accident where my car was totaled by a drunk college kid and my knee was injured. I did not want to sue, and Dan was able to get a very good recovery without filing suit after dealing and negotiating with the insurance adjuster. The negotiating took some time, and he kept me posted as the case went along. They have also helped my parents with several non-accident legal issues and have been great to work with on those as well. read more
