They were very accommodating too. I really wanted a cosmopolitan in a martini glass (which they don't have on hand), and the manager ran down into the basement and pulled out a martini glass just for me. Next time I'm in Grand Forks, I'm definitely hitting up this bar again!!

The bartenders were efficient enough, they had a live band playing, but it seemed like everyone knew everyone. It was a bit of an older crowd & my friend and I seemed a bit out of place... normally in bars like this everyone is just kind of whatever, but this place I kinda get the feeling you need to be a regular to feel at home. Bathrooms are actually decent. Not bad to roll through for a drink, but I think I prefer some of the other dives we hit to this one.

Two night a week they serve food: hamburgers on Thursdays and steaks on Saturday. During Viking Season half the town watches the game and the bar provides sumtuous food. I have been there when cowboys road their horses into the bar! And sat down and had their coors iight with the horse quite calm. If you want fresh farm eggs you can ask and one of the locas will get them for you. In fact, if you need anyting, just ask Julie who will tell you. This is a precious place. I have lived in London for 30 years, all around the USA, in Europe. Nothing begins to comapre with the authenticity and sincerity of this place. No cocktails, unless you want to mix your own. A bit of wind. Lots of beer. But, it the atmosphere!

We came in to celebrate our friends 21st birthday and my girlfriend went up to the bar to get drinks. A small blond guy came to take her order, she asked for 3 "sweet drinks" of his recommendation. Looks good!

If you've ever flown into Winnipeg, and looked out the right window of the plane at exactly the…read moreright time, then maybe you've caught a glimpse of Park River, ND... which is your loss, because this is one of those little towns on the high plains with the familiarity of a thousand others and a unique charm all its own. Nestled amidst the shops and cafes along the main drag through town, right across the street from the post office where the gal behind the counter knows everyone's name, is the Top Hat Bar. You'll recognize the sign by the larger Budweiser sign just below it, hanging out over the hundred year old sidewalk. Not sure if this was the same guys who ran the Top Hat Bar in neighboring Pisek, but I didn't ask. Inside, it's what you would expect of a small bar in a North Dakota town: quaint, comfortable, a mix old signs and pictures on the walls, probably a photo of someone holding a walleye in here. The usual offerings are served up here with hospitality to slake your thirst. Cold beer, a full bar, and a friendly sort of vibe, even if you're from Kale-ifoornya, dontchaknow. On July 4, the parade heads right through town in front of the bar, and it seems local law enforcement (most of them are in the parade) are lax about stepping outside with your Bloody Mary in a plastic cup. Uff'dah, you betcha. Great place to stop in if you're out exploring the high prairie, and need to wash the dust outta your throat.
Happy 4th!

The Club Bar is a staple in Park River, ND. If you're in town, you need to stop here. Their motto…read moreis 'No Bad Days' & I promise you won't have one after you enter their front door. Their service is quick & my favorite drink to order is their Caesar. It's a North Dakota twist on the Blood Mary (think Clamato instead of thick Bloody Mar mix) & this bar makes it best. Most weeks, they are open Thursday-Saturday unless something else is going on (ex: 4th of July which is one of Park River North Dakota's biggest days of the year). They have a black jack dealer (most Fridays/Saturdays) if you'd like to partake in some games and digital pull tubs and poker machines. One of my favorite aspects is their juke box. It has EVERY song you could imagine. Yep, every one. You can play some abstract old R. Kelly song or you could play something top 40. They have it all & it's a blast to get the place hopping with some fun, unexpected songs to see how the bar patrons react. Play some Soulja Boy and while some small towns turn on you in a heartbeat, you'll probably find the elderly farmer stopping in for a cold Budweiser dancing and smiling right along with the young people. This place has that affect on people, it brings them together. They are a big Vikings bar & host Vikings parties each Sunday. A must-visit during football season because there's probably going to be great food, a great turnout, cowbells a plenty & a great atmosphere for the game. The bottom line: This is the perfect not-so-divey dive bar in Park River, ND. Locally owned, locally loved & they'll always make you feel like one of them when you visit.

But it is a long brick building that was built in the 60's by locals and runs long way from East to West. It has two flag poles out front one with American flag and second with North Dakota flag, if you look you will find it located right East of Dollar General. I've previously was employed by the business almost a year ago its been already time sure does fly by when you're busy living. But like the first review states I agree with, you can not find any better food while I was employed there. They have some local competition now a days but I wish the best for everybody local to thrive. They do have 10 electronic pull-tab machines to play on but unfortunately do not any longer have the black jack available :( that table brought in a lot of business was sad to see it go. The newer staff (manager Marla, and possible assistant manager Calvin, bartender Tyler & Aaron, front desk Paul & Mark, & housekeepers Margie and family, plus cook Aj) are very sweet and friendly people. Always nice smiles and warm welcomes that makes you feel right at home! I myself no longer drink alcohol but do remember many many many good memories in this building and will never forget the friendships I have made along the way. It's a 3 in 1 business, it is a motel/cafē/bar all in one. It's the perfect hide out/getaway that will leave you with an amazing experience in my opinion. Hunters come and book rooms weeks in advance every year starting from Oct 1st to Dec 1st. That is their busiest time of year bar none. But they are very loyal and return every year, over the years I've built friendships & memories with alot of them also. I miss that alot :( but my journey at this business has unfortunately ended do to lack of sobriety. I miss it everyday and wish things turned out differently and that is the honest truth. Go and support these people and you will not regret it I promise. You will have memories for years to come! Tell them that the old bartender Joshua Linskie sent you and they will take care of you Lol... thank you and don't forget to stay humble my friends and Godspeed to us all!
