Do Not Let Harmony at White Studios Take Your Senior's Pictures I'm incredibly disappointed with my recent experience at White Studios during my son's senior portrait session, specifically with the photographer, Harmony. I was so excited for this special day--an important milestone for my son and our family--but Harmony's unprofessional and condescending behavior completely ruined it. When it came time for the cap and gown pictures, my son's hair was sticking out from the cap. I walked over with my phone to take a close-up picture, intending to show my son how it looked so he could fix it before the professional shots. What happened next was shocking--Harmony waved her hand just inches from my son's face and my phone, an unnecessary and aggressive gesture. Not only was this unprofessional, but it was also rude and completely uncalled for. She then proceeded to address me as "mom" in a condescending tone, telling me repeatedly, "Mom, you need to step aside, you are not allowed to take pictures." I calmly explained that I was just trying to help my son adjust his hair before the shoot, but she continued to repeat herself dismissively, ignoring my explanation. I fully understand that the studio has rules about parents taking pictures during sessions. However, her tone and behavior were entirely disrespectful. I wasn't trying to conduct my own photo shoot--just a quick shot to help my son look his best for her camera. After the session, I spoke with several other parents who had their children's portraits taken at White Studios. To my surprise, none of them reported a similar experience. In fact, their photographers had been much more accommodating, even allowing them to snap photos in the background with no fuss. It was clear that Harmony's conduct was not the norm. I left the studio upset, to the point where I cried on the drive home. This was supposed to be a memorable, joyful day for my son, and instead, it turned into a stressful and disappointing ordeal. My son even became concerned because of how upset I was. This is not the experience anyone should have when capturing such an important moment in their child's life. To make matters worse, I've attached a photo of Harmony's hand nearly touching my phone--it was that close to my face. Any closer, and it could have been considered an assault. I can't help but wonder if Harmony has any understanding of what it's like to be a parent, especially one watching their first child prepare to graduate. Senior portraits are a milestone, and the emotional significance of this time is something she seemed completely indifferent to. I hope White Studios takes this complaint seriously, as no parent should ever leave a session feeling the way I did. Professionalism and respect go a long way, and sadly, Harmony displayed neither. read more

Ordered from here again. The experience was good. Here are some takeaways: Where your skin is darker, you have to pay extra for editing because I don't believe they use the proper like that complements various skin tones. The Edits are expensive and you can only edit your personal portraits so class photos you will still be darker than what you really are. They've negotiated for themselves an effective monopoly by becoming the contractor of school photos for government schools across LAUSD school district. And because of this, they have found that a 15 minute photo session (after waiting nearly an hour past appointment time) can apparently allow them to charge up to $539 plus tax for a photo package of 5 poses in mostly wallet size prints. And the "social media download" copies included of the poses are explicitly low resolution. If you want full resolution, it's $150 PER POSE in addition to whatever package you're paying for. Cheapest package is $140 for 11 prints of 1 pose with 8 of them 2x3 wallets, and not even the low res download. Oh, and don't forget to return the preview sheets they sent you with 5-6 poses per sheet and PROOF stamped over every pose, because those are actually "loans" and they charge you $7 per sheet to keep them. Look, people can charge whatever they want because customers can choose to not pay. But when these services are rendered through a compulsory school system and are contracted with no negotiation from the people who actually pay (the parents), it's worth pointing out that it's a bad business that exists outside the free market's constraints. And it's sad to think how many families simply won't be able to afford their child's senior photo. This is probably the most egregious display of market capture predatory pricing I've ever seen. read more

Customer service is incredibly slow! This place NEEDS to catch up on modern technology. I don't understand how it makes sense for them to MAIL IN INSTRUCTIONS for digital copy purchases. They mailed it to me, but I never received it. I requested for it to be emailed as one would think digital copies would be sent. I never received an email confirmation about the item being mailed either. I was left in the dark for 2 months and I constantly had to follow up with them. No wonder they overcharge! Emailing the picture doesn't cost a thing, but mailing instructions and having to re-mail it again could become costly. read more

This is the worst portrait studio I've ever been to. The woman who took the photos was nice enough, but regardless of having an appointment, we walked into a full waiting room and waited 40 minutes past our appointment time with no apologies for the delay. The quality of the photos are as bad as it gets. Complete waste of money and I'm so upset my daughter's high school only allows this terrible place to take their senior pictures. It took me a while to do this review but in my opinion The front desk service is horrible!!! rude and unprofessional! The Hispanic girl that was helping you couldn't really understand her, plus the cap & gown for the school is royal blue and she was telling my son that he could pick any color he wanted!! she seemed frustrated or maybe she needed a nap, I don't know! But if your job is customer service do it right! if you don't like your job don't take it out on the customer and find something that suits your attitude. There was another girl overseeing or just standing there looking not helping but just there!! When it was time for my son to go and take his pictures she said follow me made it seem like she was going to walk you to the room but NOOO! She just took a few steps to where the photographer was, she gave her a paper and said ok you're all set ‍! Definitely not a place to recommend! The experience with the photographer was amazing she was super sweet she took her time to explain to my son how the session was going to be, during the session she was very professional & polite! This place is way to high for the quality not to match the prices. They charge a million dollars for everything for no reason. The photographer are mediocre, and so is the customer service. I would just suggest hiring a freelance photographer for you senior, cause you definitely won't get your money's worth here. Pictures are just mid at best, and don't need to touch up your senior pictures cause that's going to be another million, lol. If you come here be prepared to break the bank . Photographer with mediocre personality who took mediocre pictures gave no apology for the long wait. We liked our photographer, but the companies policies and pricing are insane. They are completely robbing people. You shouldn't have to spend that much for graduation photos or take a payment plan. They don't give you the digital rights to the photos, and they don't offer 3x5 or 4x6. It jumps from 5x7 to wallets, nothing in between. $58 for one sheet is INSANE!! For my youngest, I will just do the bare minimum and get the yearbook shot and go to a different photographer for grad/senior shots, it would be cheaper, and I could get full rights to them. read more

Photos are way over priced, but they always have been. My daughter is graduating this year and her experience in taking her photos was back around the beginning of the school year. Her dad ended up taking her so I can't speak for the session but she said the lady who took her pictures at the North Hollywood location was nice and sweet. They have payment plan options but they will not process your order until the last payment is made. I picked up my daughters portraits and they were nicely packaged and met my ordering instructions. The studio follows Covid safety protocols and the girl who helped me was nice. Minus one star for over pricing. Minus one star for for limited holding on portraits without an additional fee. I found this company in person to be unaccommodating and rude. I didn't agree with an aspect of a photograph for my child and i was repeatedly dismissed over a very small difference. It's unbelievable that you pay for a photograph and you can't have it any other way other than how they think it's right. I then heard a few of them gossiping about my insistence while i was in the room and i looked out at them and one of those employees came into our room to make a snarky and sarcastic comment at my child and he walked out. They have a long reputation and a monopoly in the business which obviously has gone to their heads, and it is all so sad. Boo! read more

As the parent of a senior in high school, you have no other choice - they are the only game in town so after they charge a sitting fee for 5 minutes of time whipping your kid through their mill, they produce pedestrian shots that you'll pay more for one photo than the same damned studio charges younger kids for a whole package. Its a shame we don't have any other choices for senior portraits. After waiting an hour (eventhough we had an appointment), my daughter was literally rushed through her picture taking...wasn't given any time to make sure her hair/makeup were still good...ridiculous! It felt like someone just going through the motions...didn't care about what they were doing...and the pictures she took showed that...average. Yet the studio is happy to charge an arm and a leg for just average school pictures...don't even look better than the ones they take at school. Such a scam! When both my middle school kids had to get their pictures taken by this studio at their school. I already complained to the studio that my 7th grader was rushed, And my 6th grader had the picture taken and wasn't even told when so he didn't even get to smile. And when it came to the make up pictures, my 7th grader was told the same thing ... and the 6th grader missed it because a substitute was there and didn't let him go retake the picture. I still have the pictures in the same white envelope they were mailed in unopened til this day! I can see a small version of the pictures on the parent portal. And both are horrible. And when I contacted the studio to go to the studio and have them redone before they were even mailed out 09/20/21 & 11:05/21. I got no response on 11/05/21 email. So it was definitely a waste of money. I dread it because this year it's the same studio doing the yearbook pictures again. read more

Updating because my daughter was so unhappy about her photos... took time off work mid-day AGAIN because that was all they offered... pulled her out of class... and guess what? Again told it would be an hour wait. An hour. For very mediocre photos? The monopoly this place has is hard for me to understand. Is it local loyalty? Maybe. But there should be other choices. STAY AWAY! This studio was forced on us by BUSD and I was told that the only way my senior will be on the yearbook is if she has her portraits taken by White Studio. Well guess what! THEY MISSED HER ON THE YEARBOOK!!! They ruined my daughters senior year. She was devastated and cried for a good few days saying no one will remember me in a few years. Its like I never existed :( After paying over $500 for the portraits and another $100 for the yearbook we found out that she did not make it! The school was very nice and contacted the studio the same day and then told us that they will print us stickers so that my daughter could hand them out to her friends to put on the yearbook manually (this was a week before graduation). Even though I though that's not a solution (A. she was missed B. her last name is with A and if we added the stickers manually she would be under Z, I mean who looks for a A last name after the Z???) but I accepted since I thought ok, mistakes happen. We kept following up on daily basis but no stickers. The day before graduation, I went and spoke with the VP of school who got on the phone with the studio and promised me the stickers for the same day. We did not get them until graduation day. If you ever had a senior or was a senior yourself, you know that graduation day which is also last day of school plus a short day AND finals day is very hectic. The seniors have rehearsals and then have to be ready about an hour or so before graduation without any personal belongings which means the stickers were absolutely useless to us on that day. To top it all off, they printed the stickers on a printer from 1990 whit the worst quality EVER. I could have done a much better job with my hundred dollar printer at home in five minutes. I went to the studio to complain and this VERY rude woman told me with the nasties attitude to bring back the pictures to get a refund. I told her since we were not intending to return the pictures when we first got them a few months back, we gave a way two sheets of the wallet photos and she said she will deduct those and refund us the rest. I took back the $567.21 package the next day and again with the nastiest attitude and after making us wait for half an hour and taking the pictures to the back of the studio she came back with an offer of $310.00. She said the a la carte fee for each page was $52.00 and since four pages were missing it came to be over two hundred. We were missing only two pages but now all of the sudden there were four pages missing! How convenient for them!!! Again, not one sincere apology or a hint of remorse or feeling sorry or at least looking sorry. I would have taken the offer and get the damn thing over with. But her nasty attitude and the way she spoke to us like we were criminals pissed me off. I have emailed them twice and went to the Northridge office to get an owner/manager contact information. The emails have not been returned and the Northridge studio told me that the info is on their web WHICH IS NOT. Save your money. Get the minimum required to be on the yearbook but don't count on it. I went to Whites Studios on Lankershim for my son's senior portraits. Everyone is super kind and professional. I dealt with Marilyn and Cindy at the front desk and they handled finalizing my package and helped me to get all 5x7 instead of wallets by swapping out the wallets. So helpful! And I had Samantha as the photographer. My son is not the photogenic type but she was able to capture him in serious pose and even a bit of a smile. I definitely appreciated all of them and the pics came out AMAZING!! Thanks so much! read more

I have to say the service was good everyone was polite and following the COVID rules of being 6ft apart. My reason for the two stars is because of the outrageous prices. I came for the senior portraits which were $45 thinking that's how much I was going to pay to receive the photos as well. Not knowing that once the photos were taken you had to buy a bundle separately in which only 4 photos cost $500 and the cheapest being one photo for $125 for a one pose photo. My daughter's high school sent out information that stated we were to take senior photos at White's Studio. We chose the North Hollywood location. I was very concerned when they said that I wasn't allowed to be in the room when the photos were being taken, because I knew my daughter was sometimes shy woth strangers, and it would be hard to pull her personality out of her if you don't know what you are doing when it comes to teenage girls, and their self-esteem issues. I got the proofs back, and just as I thought, both my daughter and I were not satisfied. I drive to White's Studio ready to make a scene, in defense of my daughter of course...lol BUT, I never had to, because as soon as I began my rehearsed speech, I was cut off by the person at the front desk saying, "It's not a problem, let's schedule her to take some new pictures". You really can't beat that type of great customer service. We take new pictires, and the photographer had listened to my critics of the other photos, and I could hear her giving those directives during the photo shoot. When I got the proofs back, I had so many pictures to choose from. I could not have been more pleased. When I went to pick up the photos on a Saturday morning, the ladies at the front desk were kind, helpful, and a true pleasure to deal with. I would recommend White's Studio to everyone. This review is for a senior portrait done at a high school. The photo shooting experience was ok nothing special and we opted for the least expensive pose fee. The proofs came out also ok not great or spectacular. At least my senior cracked a smile. The problem and one star rating is for the outrageous prices for the prints. Honestly it's so expensive even for one print (forget about the packages it's well over $100 for the least expensive option). We wanted just to put one of the photos in the yearbook but this option does not exist so you are pretty much expected to pay for at least one of their prints (least expensive is $50 or so for ONE photo!) I don't understand why so many schools are forced to use this company. So ridiculous to pay these prices. At least they have a payment plan option because I'm sure many families cannot pay these outrageous fees for a few photos! read more

Last year I spent about $500.00 for pictures and graduation frame, and when I got my pictures I asked if they can give me a weaver to let me do some post cards through costco. They wanted to charge me 150.00 for one picture, so I ended up having him take pictures at a studio in the Burbank Mall with his gown and cap, and I got the CD of all his pics that came out a whole lot better, and I was able to do his post cards for just $80.00. I have another child graduating next year. This time I will only do the picture that goes in the year book and have her go to the studio in Burbank Mall and save money get all my pictures rights and a lot better pics without the rush. By the way the photographer should take his time taking the pictures, my son looks like he was rushed their were a lot of students waiting in the lobby. read more
