Absolutely unbelievable! The true DIAMOND in the rough of Berlin…read more
It is not open on Monday or Tuesday, however I was in here virtually EVERY morning at the crack when they opened for their fresh baked goods. Pain chocolat, madeleines, tiny eclairs, macarons (which are ok), tortes, and those true to real good croissants. You can not get croissants like this in America. It's gotta be the butter I say, somehow it's different I am convinced.
The place is run by a French baker (either that or the German guy speaks French real well), and in the product it really does show what the heck he is doing. It's also run by many other people who know other languages, an English woman, and some other young French girl who also of course speak German, and enough English to take your order.
The also make fresh squeezed orange juice here.
The coffee is also very solid, beans ground on order and made at the ready.
I would come here every morning when the over was fired up, and so did lots of others. The line does move quickly, and on a dreary rainy morning when nobody is out, this is truly where everyone is, including many French people I discovered.
I still can't stop thinking of those croissants, and grabbing them warm and hot right off the shelf for consumption. Get there early when they are prime, hot, flakey, crackely on the top, just amazing.
I will be thinking of this place till the day I die, cause I will miss it so. If it's in your neighborhood you owe it to yourself to come here every morning.
