Wow, this is a great local resource!…read more I have been in here 5 times in the month that we've lived here. I went in and got a card within minutes from a pleasant librarian, and they have self-checkout stations which expedites the process. They have a comprehensive children's section with a nice play area downstairs (and a HUGE reading area). There are also DVD's down there for kids. The fiction section is thorough, they have Paulo Coehlo, TC Boyle, and a few other authors I've been reading this summer. The new books section is current too, I just bought two books from Amazon the other day and saw them in the library that weekend (doh!). There's a small jungle gym out front, which makes a nice diversion for my daughter when we stop in here. There is also a lovely skate park where I see tons of local kids hanging out riding their bikes and boards which I think is GREAT, a healthy diversion for them. This is a highly educated community so I'm not surprised that they invest heavily in their library, I am just thrilled to benefit from it!

The interior is clean and well lit, and new book titles easy to find. We came in from the cold to warm up and to look at all the community flyers. Found MANY travel and museum and books of artiwork at this bookstore, as well as religion, new age, science fiction, mystery, detective, etc. You can just about find anything you're looking for. All sales are plowed back to sponsor programs for kids and adult programs and activities at all Santa Fe Libraries.

I asked if she could print wallet size and the "supervisor " immediately chimed in a said we don't do graphic designs. I was surprised and said, I don't need graphic design work, just a wallet size dock for my wallet. He was dismissive and said go to Nine to Five. The woman librarian was apologetic and I said no worries. You could tell she was uncomfortable how the "supervisor " handled it. The supervisor either doesn't realize how easily his staff could complete such a simple task, or he doesn't have the servants heart I had when I worked for the federal government for 43 years of service. I went while city voting was being done, but luckily they have plenty of parking so I had no issue finding a spot. You approach a librarian for a private room, which thankfully they had available. The WiFi was a tad spotty, but you are out in deep Rio Rancho so what do you expect! Kids area was large and clean, they even had an outdoor playground area. I also loved that they had a little bookstore on site. Keep in mind it is a $10 minimum for credit cards. I will def be back to work when I'm in the area!

Please, go to the library and enjoy the amenities. But offer patience and appreciation to the faces that you see in there putting in the effort and tell them 'thank you' for what they do, because they sure aren't getting that from their bosses. If you consider working here; don't, unless you need the experience and to pay bills. Make sure you keep your heart and personal issues in your life out of work no matter what unless you want everything you care for to be used against you in some capacity. They will not take any of your accommodations seriously unless they are forced to legally. They will exploit any loophole they can to verbally degrade you. Do not speak to them without HR present or without a record of the conversation. Record them. The director is a very vengeful and performative person that gets a kick out of manipulating, guilt-tripping, and gaslighting his majority female subordinates, and he and many of those in upper management view refusals of personal favors or establishing boundaries as personal offenses against their authority. They are not allies. They care more about making the numbers look good to the city of RR than providing a sustainable space that respects the work their librarians do. Look into their abnormally high turnarounds for a library system. It's not normal. - Written as a friend of many former librarians and assistants of the Rio Rancho library system.

Sound in the library itself, in the very farthest corner, was very loud. When that crowd finally moved elsewhere, the librarians themselves sat and engaged in a loud conversation at the circulation desk. It was impossible to concentrate on my reading. If even a library can't be a quiet place to concentrate on a book, what's left?
