    Finsbury Park

I booked two nights at Finsbury Serviced Apartments for the first leg of my London trip. It was my…read morefirst time in London and I didn't know the area but I decided to take a gamble on Finsbury Park to save some money. Finsbury Park was a great area and perfectly fine. All you need is access to the tube right? The tube was right around the corner, less than a 5 minute walk. Finsbury Park is a residential neighborhood with tons of people at all hours of the day. It felt safe to me and for all the people on TripAdvisor who say there aren't many stores or restaurants in this area, it isn't true. This area is full of restaurants, pubs, and grocery stores. We arrived at Finsbury Serviced Apartments a little before check in time. Luckily, our room was ready. The lady who checked us in walked us to another building a street away where the apartment actually was. We had reserved a studio type apartment and were pleasantly surprised at the accommodations. The apartment was very cute with a modern bathroom, little kitchen, a side room so that your bed isn't in front of a stove, and a huge outdoor space that pretty much wrapped around the whole building. I wish I had booked more nights at Finsbury Serviced Apartments. It was a great deal, clean, and very modern. It has that IKEA look. My only concern would be leaving luggage in storage at the front desk. It's out in the open and even has a sign that says leave at your own risk.

We stayed in the Finsbury Serviced Apartments for 7 nights at the end of 2014. Here are our…read morehighlights and lowlights: Pros: Solid, reliable WiFi. Clean and modern apartment interior with kitchen. Good cable TV. 2-minute walk to Finsbury Park tube station. Central location in London; easy access via tube to all major attractions. Easy walk to local grocery stores, restaurants, and pubs. Cons: Towels, toilet paper, and soap were restocked only once during our stay. We checked in on a Monday and were given our choice of having these items restocked on either the following Wednesday or Saturday. Since we were checking out the following Monday, needless to say we ended up buying our own toilet paper and soap at the local grocery. The double bed in the apartments could be considered small for two adults. No elevator, and very steep and narrow stairs made hauling heavy luggage up to the room difficult and could be hard on anyone with fragile knees. The main office is located a block away from the apartment you'll be staying in and closes at 5pm. You are given a phone number to call for after-hours issues, but one night during our stay a guest couldn't get the key to her door to work so she began knocking on the doors of all the other guests asking if they had an alternate phone number for the management because no one was answering the phone at the after-hours number we were given. Thin walls in the apartment; noisy people in apartments next door and above may keep you awake. Smoking somewhere inside the building will quickly fill your apartment with smell of smoke.

A cozy long sized bed and sofa to lounge when we needed to chill without lying down. There was ample closet space and some shelving to putting away clothes. The desk area was very nice and roomy with a nice style about it. The lamps had good lighting that was warm and inviting. The bathroom had good water pressure and sink space to place all toiletries. The staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. They allowed us to use the amenities at their spa when our room wasn't ready and we needed to clean up from the all-day travels we had spent since the day before coming over from the States. Staying at the hotel is an experience from the fact that this Victorian building used to be the original train station for St. Pancras. They have repurposed the high-ceiling gothic interior that originally served for the meeting and ticketing offices for the main lobby area and the Booking Office 1869 bar. The grandeur of the design is allowed to fully take place in the superb elements of fine dining and comforting relaxation. The Booking Office Bar & Restaurant was a mainstay for us during our time at the hotel. It's difficult not to want to check out the Victorian splendor of that interior while enjoying delicious cocktails and food at the bar or one of the nearby tables. While we didn't have the opportunity to enjoy the Victorian Punch Hour that was at 5:05 each afternoon, it is something of heard to check out if you can. In addition to the Booking Office, there is the Hansom in the lobby, the Seasonal Terrance for wine hour, MI + ME, and the Gothic Bar. The latter of which was also quite magical with its Victorian design and grand luxurious interior with darkly warm lighting and creative cocktail menu. Located next to King's Cross Station in addition to St. Pancras International Station, you have immediate access to the high-speed rail system that takes you as far north as Scotland and south throughout the heart of Europe. You have one of the central hubs to multiple Underground rail stations that can take you all through Central London and its outskirts. You are also a very short walking distance from both the British Library and the British Museum. Like literally across the street close. The St. Pancras was an excellent choice for a hotel during our stay in Central London. I hope we can return again when set our course back across the pond.
