If you've watched Schitt's Creek, you'll be familiar with David's store: Rose Apothecary. For some reason this store reminds me of that shop (which is a good thing). White House Home is one of those locally owned businesses you want to stay in business because of the personal touches, quality service, and small town charm.
The store is essentially a boutique selling a variety of imported products: lotions, candles, glassware, porcelain, and even some packaged foods (cookies and chocolates, for instance). You'll find few of these products at another store nearby, which makes the selection pretty unique.
Most recently I came here for a Mother's Day gift and had plenty to choose from. The employee working in the store that day took time to answer my questions and offer some product recommendations. The prices here are perhaps a little steeper than you might find at a large retailer, but it's that personal touch and eclectic selection of luxury goods that make it worth the price jump. Upon deciding on something to buy, the employee took time to carefully wrap the purchase in a gift bag, even removing the price sticker since I mentioned it was a gift.
The store is located in a small cottage, so looking in from the outside it might appear to offer just a few choices, but the store is really packed with options, so there's a lot to choose from.
For the small town charm, personalized service and unique offerings, I'm a fan. It doesn't necessarily have anything, but it's the perfect place to go if you need a special gift or are looking for something different. read more
