While other Leeds suburbs seem to have gone down the upmarket commuter route, overflowing with gastropubs and wholefood stores, Armley has stayed true to its roots and the White Horse is a perfect example of this. It's a proper pub, with dim lighting, real ales and committed regulars and - that stalwart of the old-fashioned pub scene - it's own football team, while the refreshments on offer are strictly limited to beer, pies and chips, and a lager shandy for the lady. If you come in here wanting a sophisticated experience you'll leave disappointed, but if you just want somewhere warm and lively to quench your thirst it does the job well. read more
