Been here several times. The out of towners that are blasting it and small town life can just move on. Before you whine and cry, I lived in Wichita for most of my life. And SLU.... don't even get me started. Plenty of Netflix documentaries about people there. Whistle Stop is actually a pretty decent sandwich shop that doesn't rape you like Subway. Last time I ate at SW it was like, $20 for a sandwich and a drink. Should have just went to a sit down for the at much. At Whistle Stop, my meal hits around $12. Never had a problem with the amount of meat on the sandwich. Veggies are all fresh and not "over ripe". Sandwich Artists have all been friendly and offer home town suggestions. And what is Wichita talking about, "man with an accent"?!? Are you racist or something? What a asinine thing to say about someone else. read more

I would encourage everyone to steer clear of this place. I am local and most local people don't go there. My first experience was a cashier on the phone talking about if I heard her right she said the pump was spitting. I got my ice and left. second was I encountered some elderly gentleman hanging around. with nothing to do. I loved his accent must of been a foreign person. there is tables but it's a gas station with no room aisles of gas station crap. this place is garbage if you like the place you can have it. I guess with the sandwich shop it is not a corporate store must be a franchise owned by some Saudi or business man from Pueblo. read more

This is a great quick stop in Trinidad if you want to grab a good sandwich and get on your way. I had the spicy Italian and It did not disappoint! The ingredients were high quality and the bread was delicious. The staff was super nice. I've been through Trinidad several times to gas up and never found any place that was convenient and good quality before. The sub shop at the whistle stop is perfect. I even stayed a while at the picnic tables to enjoy the sunshine and give the dog a little break before we got on our way. read more

I have attempted to enjoy this sub shop on five occasions - each a bad experience. I like to support local businesses but this business, just like 80% of Trinidad businesses, are relying on the "suckers" passing through town, so won't invest in customer service or logical business practices ( like actually being open on weekends or past 4 PM). no wonder this town isn't thriving, it's because of bad service and trying to double charge at places like the Sub shop at Whistle Stop. Don't go- they tried to charge for two sandwiches when it was one sandwich with a different meat. It was a walk-out and their last chance. read more

Ended up at The Sub Shop after walking into and right back out of chaos across the street at the Taco Bell. We were very pleased with our meal. It was a Subway setup but with pleasant employees that were organized, quick and communicated well. The checkout allowed for tipping which we gladly did because we appreciated the great service. read more

This review is for The Sub Shop inside the Whistle Stop, not the convenience store itself (the Whistle Stop wouldn't get more than 2 Stars): Our expectations for the Sub Shop were low, since the Subway that used to be here had closed and the place isn't much to look at (sandwich shop inside a rundown gas station and convenience store). But the sandwiches were surprisingly good. The setup is still exactly the same as a Subway, except with different (better) sandwich choices, slightly higher prices, and larger meat/ingredient quantities. And the employees were very friendly and efficient. Lots of locals were coming in the day we were there, which is usually a good sign. Highly recommended as an alternative to the two fast food places across the street. read more

Couldn't imagine any of what the first reviewer said has any truth judging from my personal experience at this sub shop. The staff here are awesome and truly care about making you a bomb sub. They never skimp you on anything and truly have 100x the quality of Subway for a slightly higher price. All the breads and meats are super high quality and the vegetables are always fresh. I have never seen the restaurant dirty despite being part of a gas station. A+ on all fronts. After writing this review I believe I will be in tomorrow for a club. read more

I am a local Trinidad resident and also like to support local businesses but The Sub Shop sucks. Every time I go I get the same thing, (ham and turkey) , the meat kept getting thinner so finally I order double meat, $4.00, and it was the same amount. I AM DONE, they do rely on suckers passing through town... STAY AWAY. read more
