The first…read morevisit with Amy went fine, so we scheduled the sale for late July and I signed the agreement. The sale was scheduled for 7/27; closing on sale of the house had been scheduled for 7/30. On the morning of 7/21 Amy and her husband came to the house again. This meeting didn't feel right. They were dismayed that I didn't have an extra set of keys to give them, and that the carport did not have a gate that could be locked. This was the first I had heard about either of these conditions, but I told them I would get a set of keys ASAP, even though I was completely willing to let them in when needed, then leave them alone in the house if necessary (their preference to be alone). I checked the agreement that I had signed, and nowhere does it say that A & A needs their own set of keys. There was nothing I could do about the carport, but nothing more was said. Early that afternoon, 7/21, I received a text that they would not do the sale because of these two issues. Both could easily be fixed, but there was no discussion with me. I had already said I would provide keys (although everyone I mentioned this to thought it was odd), and the outdoor items in the storage sheds could either be set out the day of the sale, or simply omitted from the sale and left in the sheds. Since I do not live in TX and the closing was imminent I was desperate for this sale to happen when scheduled. I literally begged them to reconsider, and they grudgingly agreed. The sale did take place; the results were so-so, but that's not the issue. I'm aware that I was not their ideal client since I was trying to clear out the home of a pack rat and there weren't many items of significant value. If they had reviewed the pictures they took on the first visit and the additional ones that I sent and then decided it wasn't worth their time I might have had time to find someone else. But between hiring them and holding the sale they made no effort to communicate with me unless I contacted them first. And cancelling at the eleventh hour, and by text rather than phone call, was a very low blow that caused me a great deal of stress. Since others appear to have had a good experience with this company I am happy for them; I only wish my experience had been half as good.

He was also completely transparent every step of the way. I hired an antique appraiser along with Arthur, but in several cases Arthur was more knowledgeable. He found better ways to sell some silver and gold in the house as well as moved all my appliances and got a bunch for some small items that I didn't think were valuable. Finally, he was upfront with his pricing. I knew what the sale and clean out were going to cost and Arthur was honest about what we were likely to make so I could make a good decision going in. From our very first conversation, my wife and I knew that Arthur was the professional we were looking for. He was very knowledgeable; setting very realistic expectations for the process, the timeline, and what our likely results would be. He handled EVERYTHING from the second we shook hands through the end of the estate sale weeks later. The true reason to hire Arthur though is his honesty and integrity. More than a few times he brought our attention to some items that we would have never known the value of and he could have taken advantage of that. Instead, he informed us of what we had and let us decide how we wanted to proceed. When it was time to execute the estate sale, he had people lined up outside the door. There are some people that show up to these estate sales with the intention of exploiting families who are unfamiliar with the process or don't know the true value of their items. He deftly negotiated with these people in a way that we would have never been able to. When it was all said and done, he delivered well over the valuations that he had projected. We appreciate the realistic expectations he set at the beginning of the process as well as his ability to exceed those expectations. You really can't afford to NOT hire Arthur. If you decide to sell your coins, compare the commissions made here, on top of the commissions made by the secondary dealer your coins are being sold to, and waiting a week to be paid until after the check clears from the second dealer, selling your coins well below "melt" buy price, then this is your go to guy. Also do yourself a favor and check the smelter/refiners in the area and sell direct. Some have minimums, but several do not. Shop around and know the "spot" and "melt" published updates and trends.
