When it came to selecting our wedding photographer, our coordinator showed us the different styles to get a sense for what we liked. That was hard since they all have their advantages and were all beautiful, but the aspects we knew we liked and wanted was for our photos was for them to be colorful and feel happy--so she immediately contacted Janet to see if she was available. Lucky for us she was. We had a small and intimate wedding (with a budget to match), and we were I totally scared thinking we couldn't afford to work with Janet or had to lower our expectations. Thankfully, Janet being as patient and kind as she is, worked with us to customize our package so we could make it happen. We had her shoot my mehendi before my wedding instead of engagement photos (because we hadn't booked her yet when those were done-silly us) and we were glad we had this extra time with her. She got to meet my family (a big loving chaotic bunch which helped her know what she was getting into when it came to family photos on the day of! ) and she helped us learn how to feel a little bit more relaxed (I'm really awkward in pics and my husband is always photogenic). She also has this amazingly calm and even temperament that if she was just near us we both instantly felt comfortable, relaxed and grounded. When it came to the day of, Janet and her assistant (Holly) were like the best combination of cat wranglers and ninjas--they knew how to manage a silly bunch who just wanted to dance versus stand still for a photo and also knew how to swiftly and quietly maneuver around to get shots. Janet was also super fast in giving us a few sneak peaks the next morning so we had some to share immediately with friends and family and for us to get an idea of what we'd receive at the end of it all as well. She really does have an amazing eye. She knows how make vivid color and energy come to life in stills. She combined portrait style photos with candid photo journalism style shots--she had us covered in all the styles we could've wanted or asked for. We are really excited to see the finished product (our wedding was just 2 days ago) and we are completely confident that we will be floored. I also want to highlight Janet's non-photography skills. I already mentioned her calm nature--but on top of that she is just so much fun to have around! She is so easy to talk to, comforting, and can dance! I got her to dance with me and girl gots some moves! Our venue was all inclusive, which included a photographer in the package. My now husband and I did not get to choose our photographer, but I feel so incredibly lucky that Janet was assigned to shoot our wedding. Her work is magical, bright, and filled with authenticity. She reached out to us a few weeks before the wedding and set up a phone call where we chit chatted for about 15 minutes. She was very friendly and open to our thoughts and ideas and asked if we had any questions or concerns. We created a shot list together ahead of time, including some special requests. I told her that my husband and I met just down the street from the venue and would love if we were able to drive over quickly after the ceremony to get some shots there. Some photographers might be afraid to commit time to something like this in fear of losing the sunlight, but not Janet! She was so enthusiastic about making it work and loved the idea. We came up with a game plan and she made sure it happened. When the day of the wedding came, Janet and her second shooter arrived on time and started shooting right away. Throughout the day, Janet was sweet and calm in all the chaos that is a wedding. Despite our multiple family members seeking to pull her attention, she remained focused and was able to get beautiful candid shots as well as all the photos from the shot list. We were even able to make it over to the location where my husband and I first met before the sun went down. My husband and I are not the type of people to feel comfortable or confident in front of the camera, but Janet was just so sweet that it made the entire process much easier. She would say and do things to get us to giggle or smile and it totally eased the tension and transferred over. We look completely relaxed and you can see the happiness rather than the nervousness in the photos. Janet sent us about 10 pictures the morning after the wedding, which was such a happy surprise to wake up to. A week later she sent us over 100 highlight pictures, which are gorgeous. We are so happy with her work. We can't wait to get our final gallery in a few weeks.
