After dropping THOUSANDS of dollars, my family was treated like dirt under this facility's shoe. First, some guy went up to my parents while they were crying in front of my sister's casket to ask them to sign some form. Really? Was that the right time to do that? Also my father asked specifically for my sister to be cremated with many belongings of hers. The facility promised to do that. When we went to pick her up? SOME of her belongings were given to us in a bag. Some of them were cremated with her. They were picking and choosing what they think she should have been cremated with and they don't even know her? And when we asked? Again, they gave an attitude and said "well we can put it in the urn now if you'd like." Like....?!? On top of this, some lady works there with a nose ring. She was completely rude about picking up the flowers we were given DESPITE promising they would take care of it because we wanted to send them off to be made into bracelets/rings/etc. Then to give my family an attitude while we mourn the loss of our sister/daughter? The night of the service I was the last person in the room with my sister, and I asked if anyone would go in there and get her so she wasn't alone and she GIGGLED and said obviously someone would. I have never seen anything like it before. She should be fired. Genuinely, run. This is not the place to send your loved ones if you want to be taken care of and if you want your loved ones taken care of.

There can be so much…read moreconfusion at a time when a giant wave of grief first shows itself, and we may feel lost, hopeless, and helpless. Many questions arise when we're responsible for making final arrangements, and I'm glad we had Williams-Kampp to guide us along the way. Our father grew up in Wheaton, and the location wasn't too far from the cemetery in West Chicago where he was to be buried next to our mother, so this seemed like the perfect place to have his visitation and funeral service. The fact that our father was visiting my sister in Texas at the time of his death did not make things easier. But Dan Williams was there for us, and he informed us of what to expect. My father passed away in the hospital at 1:36 a.m.--a time when I felt lost and didn't know what to do. Dan was there to answer the phone at two in the morning, and he assured me that he would take care of everything. I can't begin to describe the feeling of relief I felt by those words. I told my siblings, "Everything was going to be okay; they've got us." There were extra steps on the part of the state of Texas in getting my father's remains back home, but Dan took care of everything for us, reassuring us of the progress along the way. The "Dad is back home" text when his plane landed and they had him was comforting. One may often read in Yelp reviews the phrase "I cannot say enough...," and it certainly applies here. Dan was there when we arrived back in Illinois to make our father's final arrangements and services. You hear ghost stories of funeral homes preying on the grief of family members to sell them the most expensive items in their inventory. I went in ready to pounce. But it never happened. There was no showing of the $10k casket. We told Dan about the image we had for our father, and what he showed us was perfect. We were told about a vault being required by state law, "but there's no reason to get the expensive one." These are not the sales people my siblings and I were expecting. They were everything I could have hoped for and more. While I'm in no hurry to use their services again--certainly, none of us are--if anyone finds themselves in need of help making final arrangements for a loved one, this is the place to go. If you're reading this review during a time where you feel lost, turn to Williams-Kampp. You'll be in good hands. I'm sorry for your loss, and may peace find you swiftly.

Located almost across the street from Cantigny, Assumption Cemetery seems to be able to push the envelope against Diocesan rules and regs and they do it in a wonderful way. Finally, a Catholic cemetery that exists for those its supposed to exist for: the bereaved. From the lay out of the land, to the congenial and late staying office staff; from the no holds barred personalized and often decorative displays to the deceased, it appears that anything goes, but in a tasteful, joyous way. This type of effigy is rarely seen in some of the more establishment dwellings of the souls, but it really should be. The Mausoleum on the premises is anything but dour: the stained glass is lovely and Assumption encourages families to offer personal touches in the way of photos, candles, baseball hats, veteran dog tags, and then some, Even as you walk through, without knowing a soul, you can tell what the souls are about. Two of my former students are here and their families have said there is no dread stopping in for a visit. There is also a decent sized chapel that is routinely open throughout the day and here again, Assumption goes the distance. If you stop in to pray or to grieve, expect to be kept company; not by dead silence, but by piped in hymns of the Catholic variety. The grounds overall are immaculate. Whether you are coming, going, or staying, AC has nailed it in figuring out that even death is all about the details. Very nice work!

The Wheaton Cemetery Association formally incorporated February 14, 1857 by a special act of legislature. In 1861 the original three acre tract of land for the cemetery was acquired from Jesse C. Wheaton, by a combination of purchase and donation. As you make your way through the grounds, the history of Wheaton reveals itself in a tapestry of names, reminders of those who enriched our community through the years. Among those buried in these grounds are Wheaton's founding fathers: Erastus Gary (1806-1887), Jesse C. Wheaton (1813-1895), and Warren 1.. Wheaton (1812-1903). Artistic sculpted monuments create a beautiful memorial park as well as an enduring tribute to those buried here. The stately gray structure is the Gary Mausoleum, constructed by Elbert H. Gary in 1912 of granite from Barre. Vermont. The earliest section of monuments can be found in the front portion of the grounds, on and around the rise. Wheaton Cemetery continues to serve the community, by providing an opportunity to remember those who have gone before us. Established as a Wheaton Historic Site in 1993"

We visited the cemetery the day before his wake and my mother showed my sister and I where they would be buried. I know it may be a bit morbid, but hey, we're not gonna live forever and if you think about it, a cemetery is something some, if not most, people will have to pick out at some point. Wheaton Cemetery is a small cemetery on Warrenville road off Roosevelt. It's a beautiful cemetery filled with old trees and truly beautiful scenery. It's an older cemetery near a residential area and located directly next to St. Michael's cemetery. If you're not careful, you may accidentally pull in the wrong place if you're heading here. From what I understand they have recently expanded their grounds and are opening up some more burial sites. I never really thought about where I wanted to ultimately end up but I know I want to be with my husband and I would love to be near my mother and/or sister if possible. Their pricing is quite reasonable from what I'm told and hoping that I have many, MANY years before I will actually require their services, I may look into a site at this cemetery one of these days. After all, my mom will be nearby and my stepdad, Pete, is already there waiting for the company.
