What-A-Blast recently moved to a new location, which is significantly less sketchy than their old one. It is now in an old bar, and the environment you run around in is very simply constructed with black walls, sheets, little cover spots and tubes. Brad, the owner, is a nice man (if a bit awkward), though clearly not super worried about the condition of the equipment. While I was there, multiple guns and vests stopped working, ruining some games. I've heard stories of him booking multiple parties at once, though this hasn't happened to me, so I can't attest to it. Probably the most annoying thing about What-A-Blast for me is nitpicky, though it does matter- he gave us the option of playing different game modes, such as "teams" (split into groups of 2 or 3), "rambo" (in which one person is the target), etc. However, what he didn't tell us is that these aren't actually reflected in the scoring system. The scoring system is very old, and is set to two teams, with a rather unclear system of actually scoring points. So after games in which we "teamed up" into small groups, we would have to look at the score board, find out which scores belonged to each person, and then add up the combined scores manually (on our iPhones) to see who won. It's awkward, and I was hoping for a bit more... structure.
Overall, if you want to play laser tag, sure, What-A-Blast will probably work. Just be prepared for broken things, and don't expect super modern technology.
Pros:
Cool location, re-purposed bar
Brad, the owner, is friendly and offers to help whenever you need it
Cons:
The equipment is old and often broken
Old technology, resulting in very limited laser tag
Brad is disorganized, and has been known to schedule multiple groups at once by accident read more
