Great place to stop and browse after Gymboree, but watch out for late afternoon when it gets swamped with parent/carers and younger kids. I'm all for encouraging a love of books in our children, but not when the place becomes a busy library rather than a shop for nice new books. This particular shop also lacks a decent magazine selection, lucky Sainsbury's in downstairs and there is a WHSmith down Finchley Road towards Swiss Cottage tube.

Now, I've always found the staff lovely, happy and cheery. But the poor staff are victim of the shop's biggest problem. Which is... Why, oh, why can we not simply pay for an item at WH Smith's without the staff begging us to buy some reduced price chocolate bar? Would you like to buy a half-price bar of chocolate, sir? They ask this while pointing at the tired old boxes of chocolate swarming all over their counter. For a start, it looks a mess. Secondly, it's irritating. And most of all, it's a cheek because more often than not, the same items are cheaper (without pretending to be on offer) at Sainsbury's just several paces away. So, please, WH Smith managment, stop embarrassing your staff and your customers by desperately hawking chocolate bars for a quid, reduced from two quid, that are 90p anyway at Sainsbury's right by your shop. Clear the counters, grow up, and take pride in the stuff you sell well. Great magazine and card departments. Friendly bright staff. Stupid and insulting attempts to fob us off with dubiously reduced choccy bars. My opinion, anyway.

Prices are high here, ultimately you're paying for convenience, if you have more time, you can pick up 90% of the items here at a fraction of the cost, even just a couple of minutes down the road. This is the case at pretty much every WHSmith Travel location. There is a Nescafe Azera coffee machine here, obviously, you have the usual suspects inside the station, but this coffee machine is especially useful if you're in a hurry ahead of getting a train, and don't have time to wait at Starbucks/Costa etc. The checkout area seemed a little too compact for my liking, it became a little messy rather quickly, given the size of the store, it's almost unacceptable as they could easily improve the area. 4*

What I like in particular is that there are always great discounted deals near the counter. I like that they have employed older people to work at the tills, they are extrememly friendly and the people working on the floor are very helpful and knowledgable. I visit WHSmith regularly for stationary despite there being cheaper alernatives because of the above reasons and the great quality.

An adorable little book shop with a really great selection…read more With an abundance of charity shops, including the Oxfam book shop in Ealing Broadway I wondered why the Mrs wanted to come out to West Ealing (very yummy mummy area) to get a book for a relative. This small, but perfectly formed book shop was very open and welcoming. It was the type of place where you felt free to spend ages browsing through it's offerings and not being watched by the creepy owner. It has a very good Fiction and History collection. Lots of less common books by famous authors and interesting titles. I nearly walked out with all the Atwood books he had, but just picked a couple. Books are all in great condition. We found a book for me Mrs Auntie and overall a very successful find.

This is a great book shop in Notting Hill. I'm not a Notting Hill native but I'm a big fan of…read morelittle independent book shops. I needed a travel book once day whilst strolling through Notting Hill, this shop has such a big selection. Books are so expensive nowadays but the books here were so affordable, there were lots of discounted books, the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed and the staff were so helpful and friendly. It's a shame this isn't closer to my house or else I'd be in there all the time. It beats the big corporate book shops on atmosphere and friendliness alone.

YOU will find great bargains, on both old and new books at this book warehouse.
