VERDICT:
I've been working at this WeWork (Red Building) for about 2 months now. Previously I've worked in more traditional locations: office park, office in a skyscraper, and a campus. Lots of things going on (see below). Based on my experience so far, I don't see myself going back if I can help it!
LOCATION:
Important! Especially if it's your first time here. If you plan on going to the Red Building, you'll enter the grounds from the San Vicente side, go down the stairs then walk towards the area between Red and Green buildings. Enter the Red Building and select "SL", which stands for the Sky Lobby (i.e. the 8th floor). This is where you will check in at the front desk.
EVENTS:
Plenty of events going on here every week, roughly 5. They include things such as the weekly bagel guy, the monthly chiropractor, or the weekly happy hour sponsored by a member company or a vendor. Usually 1-2 lunch pop-ups so you don't have to bring lunch or leave the building that day. I'll include this in "events" but we recently had a high-end haircut company, the Bord Room, join our space, which is great if you want that haircut in the middle of the work-week. Events almost always happen at the 8th floor, which can sometimes make being on the 11th floor (where we recently moved to from the 8th) tedious.
AMENITIES:
There's an espresso machine, higher-end loose-leaf tea, and infused water, along with your regular coffee and teas. There's also coconut water, but seem to be more watered down the last few weeks (likely due to the recent troubles). They'll even take in your mail if you need stuff shipped (hello wine club).
SOCIAL:
It's nice having the ability to socialize with people outside the company. There are plenty of folks in the lobby/open kitchen area (provided you have the courage)
DOG-FRIENDLY:
Office is dog-friendly. There are plenty of folks that bring their dogs to work. Also, across the street is a fairly popular dog park.
WISH LIST:
Would be nice if they could convert one of the rooms into a gym (maybe not if someone is going to stink up the WeWork), might also be a problem dealing with liability. A guy can wish!
PARKING:
$16.50 per day, not sure if there is contracted rates
FREE PARKING (street, 8-15 minute walk)
For someone visiting for the first time, or if you plan on working here long-term, and you don't want to pay for parking: anywhere north of Santa Monica Blvd. Most of the streets will be Tuesday/Wednesday cleans and permit parking starting at 7pm, so keep an eye out! read more
