Please beware of Ontario Web Our website, The Flower Shop…read morehad been online for 13 years hosted by Ontario Web, Jon McCauley of Gananoque, Ontario My problem is the renewal of my domain name, pearlsflowers.com which was allowed to lapse by Ontario Web six weeks ago. They had consent from me to renew my domain name when it became due and I left a credit card with them for this transaction. I had sent them numerous emails and tried to phone them without any response whatsoever before the due date. As of March 7 my domain name And website that they managed and owned were no longer on the Internet. My customers only saw an ERROR 404 and any business that sees this simple note on a website that should be healthy, knows that dreadful feeling. It has taken me five weeks of no revenue whatsoever because of this incompetent and callus way of handling their clients. Needless to say up until a year ago, Ontario Web was approachable and I felt that they had a reliable business. Their server went down for days and with it went our website visibility on the web. We were unable to contact them in February 2015 when this happened and again in April. They ignored all calls going to their many phone numbers and email contacts until it was up and running again. We were left out in the cold, not knowing what was going on and that is when I started my new website which was going to be replaced with the one Ontario Web owned and managed. But I was not fast enough. On March 7 the date of my domain name renewal, Ontario Web allowed it to lapse and website disappeared! Since then I have been working very diligently with my new website, getting my domain name unlocked and renewing it with a new and reliable host that actually worked with me trying to understand what I needed from them. It was a long haul but myhosting.com finally has my new website up and has my old one redirected to the new one. I would like to inform other people of my devastating experience with Ontario Web and let them make their own choice of a host for their website. This did not have to happen and was completely unacceptable. It was a lack of communication on their part and why they put me through this hell, only Ontario Web knows.

I join Pearl of Gananoque Baskets in my concerns with this company. I was one day from losing my website back in November, when Kim finally responded by email the day prior to this with a "sorry, have now renewed" message. My site To Heaven With Love has now disappeared and has been gone since April 20th! We have run this site as a service, free of charge, and those using it have now lost their memories - letters to heaven and memorial/tributes...and we have no way of contacting them. I have posted a message on our Facebook presence, and hope somehow this is seen. My emails and phone messages since April 20th (approximately 30 to date) have not been acknowledged and Ontario Web's automated messages from their server(s) send a message suggesting the company is down as well. Their website is gone, Jon's 1000 Islands Information and Promotion website is also gone.... If anyone has or is having a similar experience, I would like to talk with you.
