The course was highly imaginative, getting away from the "square range" mentality by using terrain and purpose-built structures to teach improvised shooting positions and techniques for engaging targets out to 100 yds. either singly or working in tandem with a partner . As always, Kevin is not only a true expert in his field (many who claim to be are not), but also funny, engaging, and always helpful without any of the "ego" some instructors inject into defensive firearm training. We will be back for many more.

Al runs a very informative, very applicable and very up-to-date class that keeps you engaged the ENTIRE time. My first CHL/LTC was taught by a SWAT Team Lead from a major metropolitan area, and Al's course content dwarfed the information I received during that course. Plus, our range time was fantastic -- and we had multiple students that had not EVER fired a handgun that far-exceeded the proficiency requirements. Absolutely impressive! We cannot say enough positives about our experience, here: It was THAT good!

As for the trails, looking at them can be a bit intimidating, but if you follow his guidance and trust your machine, we managed them with a ton of fun, but with great ease. I was a little hesitant to come here because it seems to be geared toward Jeep's. However, I was wrong and so glad we came. The owner Dan greeted us as soon as we came in, he was super friendly and gave us a run down of the park and a map. After paying the $40.00 for me and my passenger. He could charge at least $60.00, it's well worth it ) We headed off on some of the green trails to get used to the conditions and the layout of the park. The park is very well marked and color coded with green, blue, and black trails. The green trails I navigated with ease and were extremely fun. The blue trails were definitely a thrill and even though I was in a full size truck, I managed to get down a black trail which was the highlight of my day. We would recommend outdoors in the smokies to anyone looking to off-road but still be close to someone like Dan who is willing to help or even pull you out if needed. I felt safe and one with nature on his land. I will be coming back for another adventure and possibly some more black trails. Thanks Dan for the great experience, and for your hard work putting together an amazing course.
