Last week I shopped in Westside Meats for the 1st time. I live in sea isle and had been wanting to try this business for some time. I bought a number of things among them a lb. of Hatfield bacon that was on sale. I got it home and discovered the "use by " date was July 25th (almost 2 months ago). The fact that they would sell such an item to the public makes me question their safety and food standards for anything else they sell. They also handed out for free a desert type item that had a date of June. read more

This is a great place to go and stock up on meats. Especially in these times of crazy inflation. I think this is most likely a place where restaurants go to get there stuff. Most things are in bulk. There aren't really aisles. Stuff is just in boxes or freezers with minimal packaging. Some of things we got here were a box of 10 steaks, 5 lb bag of ground beef, bag of chicken cutlets, one of those things of pre marinated pork you can just throw on the grill, bag of breaded flounder, bag of breaded chicken cutlets. Probably some other meats I am forgetting. They also have some frozen sides which we haven't tried yet. We got Mac and cheese wedges and a thing of cheesesteak egg rolls. This was great to fill up our deep freezer. I think we will probably make another trip down here this winter once we go through what we got here. Here's a few things that will be good to know before your first Westside trip: - Bring Cash, starting Sept 2017 Westside will be charging a fee to process credit cards. - Bring a jacket- this place is as cold as a meat locker- because it basically is. - The place is almost always crowded, especially on the weekends. - They have a small parking lot in front of the store. - Fresh, local produce can be purchased outside the store in a small farmers stand. - On weekends there is a small lunch stand with some really delicious smelling food for sale. read more

Over Easter we bought a 10 pound box of Rib Eyes. The meat was absolutely horrible. We had a party of 15 people and everyone was asking where we bought so they never buy meat from there. We literally threw away all the steaks that we cooked because the meat was so tough. It was not chewable. Nobody wanted it. I called Westside Meats and the women said, Sorry but there's nothing we can do. Shame on you Westside for not standing by your products. We will never return and being in the service business in the Wildwoods, I'll make sure to tell everyone my experience with Westside. read more

Pork loin was priced about the same as Cosco The prepackaged burgers are tasty but watch those dates... Came here for the first time a few weeks ago, and despite not even being a meat eater, I found plenty to tempt my taste buds here. Don't expect anything fancy, but come prepared for possible great deals, like lumb crabmeat for just $12/lb. A total meatstravaganza! Everything you need, I even found long bone ribeyes here! Filet 1st cut for 8.99 an lb! They even have a farmers market attached so you can get all your meats and cheeses in west side and then all your fruits and veggies in the parking lot. We've been incredibly satisfied with the products that we have has so far and I just found out they also have cakes and pies as well! West side! Meats is a good place to start the price is good for families saving money these days, some items changed in quality of taste and price mostly for the area that it's in this place is best. But if some items continue to be high or low quality the Wal Mart up the street will sneak up and take some business away, A heads up Westside, the burger meat in general needs attention, the small pack sold now tastes better, also its the former bulkier pack burgers sold a few years, ago and had ( more patties). Than What's sold now falls short of flavor like the smaller pack. Also a different meat flavor as long ago that had a much better price too!! We also shop here during our Aug vacations in the Wildwoods, other then the long lines to check put I really can't complain about anything. The meats and deli are spot on with prices. Since we only have two weeks a year in the wildwoods we really don't have the time to run all over southern jersey shopping so for us this is a must stop first to stock up on the food for a nice relaxing vacation each year read more

West side has really changed as far as price's and quality of product. I find it cutting corners on different items I've seen and have eaten before like hamburger packs.. we're once given you more in quantity live 50to a bag now given you much less.( 5 patties) . Other items like frozen pizza's, eggs, & butter are the same. hamburger meat should have stayed in the original packaging at the quanity and quality it once was..50 to a pack not 5...on the brighter side They will refund your money of any unused portion which is a plus.... Also seafood at the shore for where it comes from should be at a better discount... Wish they carried snow crab legs all in all some money can be saved here but not like in 2016. read more

OK, where to begin... I recently moved to Wildwood from Florida by way of Michigan and discovered this place. I love to BBQ meats, and I've found some amazing meats to BBQ with here. The Pork Shoulder cuts, which you can ask specifically for cuts from are way above average, and the prices are amazingly reasonable for the quality of the meats. Last week, I prepared a "Tomahawk" steak purchased from this store, and it was absolutely the best piece of BBQ steak I have ever prepared. So this is the second time I've been to this place in the last couple of weeks. It's really small, but I guess most of their product is in back. Today I just needed to get some ground beef, but I had to argue with the guy and let him know that there wasn't anything out there in the cooler except 2 5lb packs course ground 85/15 ground beef which I did not want. I wanted 80/20 fine grind,which I had called on to be sure they had and nothing else. He kept wanting to give me the 85/15 with his so-called special grind, but that's not what I wanted. Isn't the customer supposed to get what they want. They were the last time I checked. Anyway the gentleman behind the counter told me he's the owner and he knows what he has even though he didn't seem to at first. Finally after going back and forth a few times he yelled at some guys in the back and they miraculously came out with two 5-pound chubs of 80/20 ground beef with a fine grind. Anyway, it may not seem like much, but I really don't appreciate being talked at. On top of that they had Texas Roadhouse New York strip steaks and porterhouse steaks sitting out in the breezeway by the register windows. Unfortunately it was warm and all the meat was beginning to oxidize and turn sort of grey. When I left they were still sitting out there on a rolling cart stacked 2 wide and about 8 boxes high. I think I would avoid that because if I saw that in any other store it would be on the discount rack or in the trash can. So that was my experience so far with this place and if there was anything closer where I could buy bulk meats I would probably consider going there first. I disappoints me because I always love to try and support local businesses, but today this one left a bit of a funny taste in my mouth. I'll probably be back because this may have been just an off day, but we'll see. For this visit I would have only given it 2 stars, but because the first time the experience wasn't so bad I went ahead and gave them 3. read more
