His presence, precision, and ability to connect movement with meaning left a lasting impression. Sifu Wang brought clarity and calm to the room while guiding us through traditional martial arts techniques with incredible attention to detail. Even in a short session, it was clear we were learning from a true master--someone deeply rooted in the history and philosophy of the art form. This workshop was a perfect blend of physical challenge and artistic depth. I walked away feeling inspired and more connected to my body and storytelling through movement. If you ever get the chance to study with Sifu Wang, take it--you'll be better for it!

Beijing Tai-Chi & Kung Fu Academy offers Traditional Chinese Kung Fu training you can not find anywhere else. Sifu Wang teaches Ba gua, Xing Yi, Sanda, Wushu, Traditional Kung Fu and Kung Fu weapons, Chi Gong, and Yang Tai Chi. The Traditional Kung Fu curriculum consists of learning forms and applications in Ba Ji, Pi Gua, Mantis, Eagle Claw and Chuo Jiao. In the weapons curriculum, you will learn spear, long staff, straight sword and broadsword, as well as some of the more exotic weapons like double deerhorn knives and three-sectional. Sifu Wang travels to China periodically, and trains with his old Chinese Masters and brings this much valued experience to his students. The classes are challenging, fun and you will learn discipline, agility, flexibility, coordination while being exposed to an education in the different types of kung fu. For those that prefer fighting to forms, there are Sanda (sparring classes) to hone your skills at full contact fighting. Unlike many schools in California that require yearly contracts, you can pay month to month. The Traditional kung fu class costs $85/month for two classes a week, a very reasonable price in Los Angeles. The classes run 1 hour and 10 minutes (sometimes longer). You can get a discount if you pay for more months upfront. Unlike schools with hidden costs, there are no belt tests that require money. Certificates are offered when a student finishes a curriculum and passes the test. The people that attend the school are fun and helpful. Once a year, Sifu and the students go for their dim sum around Chinese New Year. So if you are looking for a fulfilling, well-rounded Traditional Chinese Martial Arts Training in Kung Fu or Tai Chi, Beijing Tai-Chi & Kung Fu Academy is the place!

Also, the utensils are a cheap plastic which I would not recommend be used in hot soup. The restaurants itself is located in a plaza near the entrance with a lot of other restaurants and an Asian supermarket. Parking can be difficult around lunch and dinner so if you do come, please plan accordingly. For this particular restaurant, there are booths along the sides with tables in the middle. When seated, you can see the menu and order via a QR code located on each table. Besides the food, the service was pretty much nonexistent. The staff are all standing around the kitchen talking loudly to each other and it's impossible to get any service unless you walk up to them and then wait for them to finish their convo. The only time any staff approached our table (besides dropping off food) was when they brought the check. Then they are all smiles and compliments as they have you pay and give tip on a electronic device that they hold onto. It wasn't a good experience dining here and I wouldn't come back to this location again.

I cannot imagine ever stopping my qi gong and tai chi practice. This is why-- · The club and tea room are inspiring spaces that are beautifully and carefully designed and decorated. The mood and ambiance are of the highest quality. If you are a tea connoisseur and love traditional Chinese tea, you will deeply appreciate their collection. It is by far the best tea I have ever had in my life! · The students have become sincere friends and I look forward to seeing every one of them in class. Not everyone can become a student and part of the club. You will first meet with Sandy or Dima and then if you qualify, you would meet with Master Valery who would then decide whether or not this is the right fit for you. Everyone here is a stellar human being with a deep commitment to the practice and teachings. · Master Valery is a remarkable teacher -- one of my favorite parts of membership is his monthly lectures. Sandy and Dima have learned everything from him and are formidable teachers in their own rights. Everything here is about details and practicing the right technique. Formidable insights await if you commit and keep showing up. What this club is not is another fitness thing. This is a way of life and a community that is rooted in the ancient practice of Chinese martial arts. The classes will challenge you regardless of your fitness level. After a year, my practice has changed my body, I am stronger, more fit and flexible than ever. I feel more calm and at peace. I feel supported and a sense of belonging and guidance provided by teachers and students I fully trust. Thank you Golden Dragon!

The calm and focus the practice provides sets my tone for the week. I've tried yoga a bunch of times but the static poses weren't for me. And sitting still to meditate doesn't work for me either. Tai chi is like a moving meditation that allows me to tune out the world and my thoughts (or at least keep trying to--it's a practice). At first, it seemed like a lot to learn, but Angie breaks down the movements step by step and reminds us that "any movement is good movement" in case people are still learning. I used to park myself right behind one of the regulars and follow him, and now I'm one of those regulars myself Even though I've been coming for years, I still find new subtleties in different parts of the form. It has also given me great balance, better than I've ever had in my life. I once took a tai chi course that met inside and was very technically precise. I so much prefer doing it outside in the park. Sometimes I wish for specific critique of my form but we do get that during the periodic intermediate/advanced classes she offers. There are generally anywhere from 25-50 people at a session. It's donation based (cash or Venmo), so free if you want to just check it out. I always give because it's so worth it to me.
