This place absolutely sucks - every single doctor in there is only there to bill you - they could care less that you honestly need help

My initial interaction with this practice was amazing. I spoke to Tamara on the phone and was…read morereally excited about the practitioners and virtual therapy options. Or maybe Tamara was just cool. Between Tamara and Katie, they sent me a couple emails and a link to their portal. They explained I needed to fill out all these in-take forms (about SEVEN of them requiring short essays for all sorts of questions!) before they would pair me with a therapist. It was pretty intense and very annoying. Like, this was a lot of work for a big question mark. A lot of therapists will offer a consultation to see if it's a good fit BEFORE doing all that work. A few days passed and Katie called and told me that only two therapists were taking new clients at that moment. She set me up with Gisselah. Gisselah texted me within 20 minutes of our first appointment and cancelled. It took a few days to reschedule and I was pretty annoyed that they ultimately went ahead and picked a day and time without talking to me first. By this point, I was pretty wary of this practice and Gisselah. I was doubtful that she was a good fit for me. I indicated on those SEVEN forms that I wanted to a therapist for work anxiety and identity issues. As a biracial person who is the descendant of African slaves in the U.S., I kinda hoped to have someone who had a similar experience or at least studied race in the United states. Nothing about Gisselah indicated that she was a good match for those needs - it's just that she was one of two therapists accepting new clients. I called the practice and asked for Tamara or Katie to call me back. I wanted to double check to see if Gisselah was REALLY a good fit for me. They didn't call me back. I called and left messages 2-3 times. Finally, Tamara called me back the day before the appointment that they scheduled for me without asking. I told her my concerns and she convinced me to give Gisselah a shot. Gisselah was 20 minutes late to our appointment. I texted her and she said she cancelled, but could join anyway. During our consultation, she asked me, "Do you know what African country your Black family is from?" Um... no. Descendant of African slaves? Brought here against their will? Children separated from parents? She said, "Because I moved here from [African country] when I was 14." "Oh." "Well, maybe you've done DNA?" What does this have to do with ANYTHING? Like, getting in touch with some African roots that nobody in my family knows anything about is going to help me with my racial identity issues? She asked, "What does your husband do?" "My WIFE..." OMG. Like, why do you want to know about my spouse's job anyway? Like, do you want to know about our money? My socioeconomic status? Do you not think I have my own money? This line of questions was soooo inappropriate for a trained professional who supposedly knew from my SEVEN intake forms what I was there for and my marital status. Geesh. Anyway, Gisselah, as a representative of Leading Light Behavioral Health, told me that I would only be charged for a 30 minute session because she was late. Fast forward. I told LLBH that I was not interested in additional appointments with Gisselah. Nonetheless, they suddenly decided to call me MULTIPLE times to try to get me to take an appointment with a different therapist. I was absolutely turned off. Then, they said I was going to be charged $150 for a full consultation. I explained that I was only supposed to be charged for a half hour, per Gisselah. They said, no. Gisselah has nothing to do with billing. You'll be charged the full amount and they went ahead and did just that. I told the director of the practice about my experience with Gisselah and she did not respond.

I'm so disappointed to have to write a negative review. I wanted this to work so badly but it…read moredidn't. Tamara is a good counselor but being good, isn't good enough, Especially when you unreliable. First, I feel like she's more concerned about money than actually helping. Multiple times she chased me down, telling me I didn't pay for appointments. After I pulled out receipts, which I had to ask for since they don't automatically give you one, she backed off. But this happened, multiple times. She made sure to find me for money but never to make sure I was doing ok. My first appointment that SHE booked me for, was a disaster. She never actually put me on the schedule and I waited an hour before I could see her. I just assumed this was a mistake and it wouldn't happen again. Little did I know, this would be my experience. Every single time I went, she was late. After she was late, she would rush through our sessions. I never saw her for more than 20 minutes. After our second session, she tried to push me from weekly sessions to biweekly or monthly. After TWO sessions, she was already trying to cut me out. I pushed back, she agreed that I should still come weekly. One time I went for my appointment and she wasn't even there. Again, maybe a mistake, even though I confirmed my appointment multiple times. The last time I went for my appointment, the office was completely closed. This was a very important appointment for me, which she knew. Despite her knowing how vulnerable I was, she never rescheduled or even called to check in on me. Thank God it was t life or death because she still doesn't know if I'm alive or not. That last appointment was over a month ago. As a counselor, you are sometimes someone's life line. If I depended on her to save my life, I wouldn't be here. She is not reliable. She is unprofessional. I am so disappointed and will never ever step foot back in that building.
