This place should honestly be shut down. The staff is rude and incompetent. They make nasty comments about patients under their breath while caring for them, refuse to do their jobs, and leave patients in their own urine and feces for upwards of 12 hours. Advice for the staff - if you want a job where you can roll your eyes at people and mock the notion of your patients falling out of bed with a smirk on your face, this isn't the place for it. If Westmont Manor cared, they would hire people with even the smallest hint of compassion, not these cold and cruel abominations of humanity that are employed. Believe the reviews you read that talk about neglect, not returning phone calls, not calling family with issues or concerns, and lack of care coordination. We didn't wish we did she would have never come to this facility and might still be alive. Died after 5 months of being at this facility. Rehab discontinued, during nation COVID waiver, for lack of progress despite them telling our mother how well she was doing the whole time, about two days before her last session. They were always short staffed, contract workers not familiar with facility, policies, human soul. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REACH A HUMAN NOR WILL THEY RETURN CALLS OR EMAILS. read more

A good friend of mine has been at Westmont Manor for several months. As friends, a couple of us have tried advocating on her behalf since she is not able to. I have tried to work with the director, Moshe. He doesn't return calls or emails. Today, Durrell (customer service) called me instead. He yelled at me and wouldn't let me finish talking. As a customer service person he should let the person with the complaint speak. He wouldn't listen to me, interrupted me and then accused me of interrupting him. The reason for my most recent complaint: their staff keeps loosing/taking my friends clothing. I recently bought new clothing that has already been taken by the staff. I don't know what is going on there. Other recent complaints: staff is often rude, food is barely edible, short staffed, not well cleaned, and the list goes on and on. Staff have been abusive and neglectful in many ways. Out of respect for my friend, I do not want to give details. The management doesn't address issues. The facility is awful. I did see a positive review of Mark David - PT. He really is wonderful. There are a few other good PTs as well. Putting up with the negatives isn't worth it though in my opinion. read more

Of the 6 facilities that I have personally experienced, I've never seen that's as carelessly managed, neglects the personal and critically essential patient care as Westmont Manorcare. I was there everyday for 5 months looking out for my Mom, I was afraid not to be there. Their administration is indifferent and detached. Moshe simply doesn't care. Contacting him is impossible and calls or requests to meet go unreturned. This was especially terrible after my Mom was assaulted by two temp cnas. There were witnesses. An internal investigation was allegedly headed up by Moshe but the facility would not tell me anything except "these things take time" to my repeated request for information. They stonewalled me and the police dept. At least 80% of floor staff is temporary agency nurses and CNAs who are indifferent. The good nurses and CNAs that were there would be fired for making complaints to management, or simply quit to work someplace else. Most of the floor staff were indifferent or care more about their cell phones than patients. CNAs lied to me and others about meds or adult diaper changes that weren't done. I know because I was there 6-10 hours everyday. I saw a lot. Food is essential to recovery. Meals are not always delivered and when they are, the food is terrible and always cold. Using the call button might get someone in an hour or two. I witnessed Staff berating patients for pushing the button too much. Good luck trying to get a meeting with the staff doctor to discuss your loved one's care, It takes weeks of calls. Out of date Computer systems that track patient history and meds would crash. Nurses would track meds on yellow pads. Mistakes were made. Staff threatened to call the police when I wanted to stay with my Mom who had been given the wrong meds on top of her regular meds. Staffing on weekends was the worst, soom weekends there was only 1 temp nurse and 1-2 temp CNAs for 64 patients. I filed complaints with the IDPH and attorneys. The horror stories told to me in confidence by staff about incidents there were horrifying. There good facilities, come ok ones and some really bad ones. I would never refer anyone to this place. They don't care and that puts patients lives in danger. read more

This rating is for a specific physical therapist, Mark David, who did an excellent job treating my father-in-law. Mark was extremely patient, knowledgeable, and effective in treating a very challenging case. He facilitated a level of progress for my father-in-law which was previously unattainable under the care of the multiple therapists who attempted to help him. read more

This place is just terrible. Staff is very rude and unhelpful. The care they provide is a joke. Patients get stuck waiting an hour or more for help. Patients also don't feel safe here. I would not even want my worse enemy to be here. Avoid at all costs!! read more

PLEASE do NOT put your loved one in this place. My grandmother was here for a short time, when on Mother's Day no less, the inexperienced staff rolled her right off of the bed. To make matters worse, they did NOTHING but give her tylenol. Come to find out, she had 3 cracked ribs & a broken nose! And these were discovered ONLY after my mother MADE them get her x-rayed. Then 2 days later, she had a stroke-and NO ONE THERE NOTICED. We moved her immediately to Burgess Square/Westmont-where we got the BEST care ever. My Mom has been in here since last June 2019. From the first day she came she has been cared for in a friendly and inclusive manner. I noticed they all say hello when they see her and they also have activities for the patients every day. No nursing home is like being at home, but this one comes close the way they care for the patients. The food is really good too, and Kyle the Social worker is always helpful. I would recommend Westmont Manor. It is NOT a manor care facility anymore! read more

Hours say 24 hours but NOT really. My friend was there for several months. I had know problem coming day or night to see her. All of a sudden I come in late and was told I need permission. What happened in the last few weeks. Terrible food, would not give it to my dog. So many people bring in food for their relatives or friends because food is pathetic. Thank God for their visiting family and friends. Another thing I have deep concern about, the call button is not answered in a proper time. Patient or may I say inmate has to wait anywhere from .5 hrs to as long as an hour for someone to answer. And hopefully not just turn light off and say they don't have time. read more

Manor Care staff were outstanding from the Director, Nursing staff, Rehabilitation staff OTs and PTs all the way to the social services, food services and the aids. They treated my mom with care and sensitivity. read more

My mother in law was at manor care for three weeks, she is a very healthy 84 year old woman so this was unexpected, she slipped on ice and had to have surgery. I was nervous of having my wife's mother at a rehab center and I toured many places. I did not know what to expect and I was very surprised by the knowledge and kindness that the staff showed to me and my mom. I was so happy with the progress that she made and that she is doing well at home. I highly recommend this health facility. read more

My Mother recently was admitted to Manor Care WESTMONT facility for Skilled Nursing and Physical and Occupational Therapy. Her Wonderful Dr Gerald Simon recommended this facility, I was extremely impressed by the compassion and kindness in which she was treated like family. The Team at Manor Care WESTMONT was very thoughtful patient and informative with all of moms issues. Moms Physical Therapist PAULINE W got me involved with Moms process, she invited me to.attend moms physical therapy session to Teach and show me different exercises and maneuvers so i could better assist mom at home. Everyone from Admissions Social Services Doctors, Nurses, Aides Janitorial staff were so helpful and friendly to mom. This wonderful facility not only treats the patients aches and pains but mind and body also. They put the patients mind at ease and in addition go over and above to cater to the family members. Nadia from Admissions called us to follow up on moms condition and offered to be of any assistance if we needed anything. I highly recommend Manor Care WESTMONTs AWESOME TEAM to ANYONE. We are truly BLESSED to have Dr Gerald Simon and the BEST Team on Earrh at Manor Care Westmont GOD BLESS. Avoid this facility at all costs. The only time they will take care of your loved one is if you are sitting in the room with them. The female social worker ( Dawn?)will NOT help you with anything. My mother was supposed to receive a wheelchair and she gave my family two different reasons for it not being delivered on time for her doctors appointment. I had to go back to this place and BEG them for a wheelchair. It was 5 days before the social worker even talked to me and that was only because I asked to see her. Instead of helping us she just said " the insurance is going to stop paying for this so you need to find a plan B". That was it. No further help. Nothing. My mother was dehydrated with a UTI and needed water. I had to go there on my way to work to get water for her because the staff could not be bothered. On another occasion she also went without water. The excuse from the nurse was " Oh! I forgot about it. Sorry." Thank God my mother was released. If she would have stayed there she'd be dead by now. If you care about your loved one, don't put them here! The staff is horrible (with the exception of some of the people in the physical therapy area). They brought my 90 year old Grandpa here after leaving the hospital from knee surgery. They put him in a room and left him there without telling him anything. When I showed up an hour later no one had still been in! Absolutely unacceptable! In addition, the food there can barely be called food. High school cafeteria food looks like a 5 star restaurant compared to this stuff. We ended up putting him at a different recovery/therapy home and he thrived there. Plus, added bonus, it didn't have a feeling of death at the other place! read more

It was comforting to our family that Mom was able to rehab in such a caring environment with such an impeccably high standard. She always said how happy she was and how kind you all were to her. There were many instances where the ManorCare staff stepped in when we needed them most and went above and beyond. It's such a shame there are poor reviews on here, we saw no such thing. read more

My mother was recommended to this facility 2 days after her bypass. She cried her 1st night there. She arrived at 4pm. At 7pm her nurse had not cared for her wounds, cleaned her soiled bed, or checked her blood & sugar levels. I had to clean her wounds, change the bed sheets, & sanitize the room. The next morning,I brought it to the attention of the managing staff, they were apologetic & promised to do a better job. 7 days later, we make sure that a family member is with her from 9am - 9pm. They love "easy patients" and ignore the more difficult ones. If you plan to bring a loved one to this facility make sure you'll be able to visit frequent. I see a lot of patients that are not cared for & they don't have an advocate to speak up for them. Her occupational therapist Luis is the best. Carlos switched her mattress when she was uncomfortable with the 1st one. Clarista is the best nurse, she gives me an update each morning I walk in. Jamie,assisting nurse, does amazing at listening & comforting all her patients. Her 1st nurse was never seen again. read more

We were very nervous about my husband being placed in a skilled nursing home setting after his hospital stay from back surgery. We did not know what to expect and my husband just wanted to go home but I knew I could not care for him all by myself. When my husband arrived he was in extreme pain the staff immediately worked with him to get his pain under control. With his pain under control we was able to participate more in the therapy and he began to improve. It took some time but before long with with the encouragement of the therapy staff my husband was able to dress and bath and the other things needed to get him to go home. i can not stress enough how will the staff worked together to make my husband comfortable and helped transition my husband to a home setting. I would tell anyone looking for a place for rehab to come to Manorcare the nurses and the therapists are wonderful! read more

Mother was there for over a year. Nurses unavailable when needed, CNAs off talking about personal matters rather than dealing with patients, CNAs don't follow orders by doctors, administrative staff promises to address shortcomings but blows it off, and so on. When challenged, they make trouble for the family and lie about their shortcomings. Go as far as filing claims with the court when they recognize the family intends to report problems to the Health Department. Please keep your loved ones away from this place. read more

There are some very dedicated and absolutely wonderful CNAs, therapists, and nurses. However, the behavior of some of the staff is absolutely horrifying. It is a difficult situation when you have to entrust a loved one to the care of others and cannot be there to monitor at all times. Unfortunately some of the nurses are either poorly trained or just lazy and commit some very grave errors, which affect the safety of the residents and could be prevented if they either took the time to read the charts or observe the situation in the patient's room. If your loved one cannot advocate for himself, it is a very scary situation. Some of the actions of Manor Care are very demoralizing and demeaning to the residents. For example, meals are rarely, if ever, on time and the patients have to sit around the dining room for an extended period waiting for meals. At some point, someone needs to learn how to get the meals out on time. Due to therapy schedules, they also serve cold meals to patients as they just leave trays in rooms while the patients are at therapy. There needs to be a better system to feed the patients as this is a rehabilitation center and therapy should be the norm, not the exception. read more

Don't bring anyone you love to this place for care. They do not answer questions unless you hound them every day until you get one. They do not return calls even on important issues regarding insurance and such. The nurses do not appear to care. Upon admittance, we were there 7 hours before a nurse even stepped foot in the room and that's because we had to ask one to come and introduce herself to our mother who has dementia. And they did not tell her about dinner and we asked at 5:40 when dinner was. Dining room opens at 5....and we had been there since 2 pm. Not even a drink of water was offered her in over 5 hours. And when we left there was no indication that she would be given her evening meds. When we asked about that we were told they did not have them yet and I believe that was after 8 pm. If you read others' reviews for ManorCare at other locations, I would agree. The negative reviews of other locations (Hinsdale) mirror what I have witness and experienced at the Westmont facility. If your hospital/doctor orders your loved one to a rehab facility, investigate them first and do not just let them go here! read more
