Driving to Fort Langley the other day, we passed by this incredibly old and charming white church,…read morethe kind that's straight out of a Currier & Ives painting, or an old, Victorian postcard. I immediately could tell from the structure that it was a historic landmark, as it had the authentic character and structure and Iines of a genuinely old, well-cared for edifice. History nerd that I am (as well as a student of architecture), I told my kid that we MUST return to this church after visiting the fort, as I need to check it out in more detail. I was so disappointed to discover, upon returning, that the church was locked up tighter than a drum. (I subsequently read on their website that, during the pandemic, they have very abbreviated hours of operation - like, they're open for two hours a week, - and to call ahead before visiting). Bummer. I so wanted to see the church interior. The posted sign outside says the church was established in 1873 and the building was built in 1901 (and it has been enlarged and renovated since). There is more history about this church on its website. The exterior is in pristine condition and is literally picture postcard "cute", complete even with a white picket fence. I've attached a few photos here but they do not do the building justice. (Trust me on this. I am not the best photographer). Hopefully soon the church will be more accessible and open for more hours during the week, so we can check it out further.

I've been insulted everyday since some of us went to the same school, then youth groups, bible studies, and congregation. A good friend of mine that I just recently met at that time invited me to this church that he's been with almost since the church just started. They used to rent out a space in Langley Christian Elementary the first year I went then this location (our own actual church building now) finished building. Amazing people, super friendly and helpful. Met many people there and some new friends. Love their songs too. Most are Koreans, Caucasians, adopted African children, and a few Chinese too. Quite a few different ethnicity of people and I love that about our church. Very supportive too but can be a little narrow-minded when it comes to some topics or opinions. Any church and anyone can have flaws but despite that it's a truly beautiful church and place with good people. We have fellowship meals too that are awesome and we sing and pray together before it. We drink red wine and eat bread no grape juice but we do have a rule to not drink for pleasure on church grounds. We one major pastor and another Korean pastor that's mostly there but only do preaching occasionally, we also have visitors/guest pastors. We have a park and a field/playground behind the church for kids and a few parking spots!

I met the coordinator and she was very hospitable to me. That particular day, they were having a slideshow honoring and appreciating one of their priests and they offered complimentary breakfast and coffee! Delicious. I can't remember the priests name, Brouard? But he was very nice as well, even though he had to run and catch the Ferry to offer Mass in Victoria! :) I think this would be a nice church to go to. They offer retreats as well, if I understood correctly. Silent, Ignatian retreats.
