I was referred to Westmed by my doctor for a specialist, so this was a completely new experience for me compared to my regular medical group. It's a lot busier, a lot more crowded, and a lot more like what one would expect from the US health care system: mostly impersonal and like being at the DMV. Very frustrating experience with the orthopedic department at Summit Health. One year after my knee replacement surgery, I am still dealing with pain and limited flexibility. After multiple visits and imaging, communication and follow-up were extremely poor. I requested a simple call to review my CT results but received no response and was only contacted 20 days later. In the meantime, I was billed for the scan without getting timely results or a clear care plan. The lack of communication and delays made an already difficult recovery more stressful and costly. I had a bad experience recently with Dr. Andrew Haas from Westmed. It frustrated me enough that I wrote a negative review about it, and about Westmed's business practices which, it seems to me, prioritize making money over patient care. As you'd expect from a compassionate medical provider, Dr. Haas and Westmed immediately reached out to discuss the situation, and to ensure that I received the necessary care for my ailing shoulder. ...I'm kidding of course. What they actually did was to send me an email notifying me that my Patient Portal Account with their company had been deleted... very mature, Westmed, very mature. The good news is I couldn't care less -- I had no intention of being a patient of theirs again anyway. The bad news is for anyone who still does. Because, if this isn't confirmation that Westmed cares more about their corporate reputation and bottom line than they do about their patients, I don't know what is. What's sad is that this whole thing could have been fixed with a phone call -- "we're sorry you had a bad experience, how can we make it right?" If that had happened, I would've gladly taken down the negative review and replaced it with a positive one. I guess that was too much to expect though from a company that's openly petty, uncaring and unprofessional. My advice? Save yourself the frustration, get treated somewhere else. read more

After the multiple lies and closing my case twice when I tried to have it escalated, Leslie sends me a message that was an absolute straight lie and I have the proof. She also claimed that they never got my medical records, which was hand delivered to them by my husband. Hand delivered! Then she said the provider never even met my husband. Another lie. And the funny part? She says this the day before he had a FOLLOW UP appointment with said provider. Follow up! Through all of this (dating back to 11-20-24) the practitioner went on VACATION for two weeks and I was denied access to the covering physician. Leslie told me that the covering doctor told her "there's nothing I can do for her so just ignore it". Really? Again, through all this, said provider not once bothered to speak to me one on one. Last time I called, I was denied access to a manager and just told that she would not prescribe my medication, based on Leslie's lie, or I guess they no longer want to treat me bc I've complained. We scheduled an appointment for my mother at their 3030 Westchester Avenue location. According to their website, they accepted her medical insurance. My geriatric mother went all the way to their office, which was 45 minutes away, only to be told they didn't accept her insurance. I feel like that's something they should have known at the time of scheduling the appointment. It would have saved everyone time. Additionally, the staff was odious and the main corridor of the facility smelly. My primary care physician, Dr. Barry Feuer, is located at 3030 Westchester Avenue, a new well appointed building recently moved into by WestMed. The center is excellent to visit, from ample, easy free parking right outside, to the polite, helpful reception staff inside. I was a big fan of Westmed and I still think that it has great doctors, but the customer service has fallen apart completely. I waited an hour and a half on hold trying to schedule a test for my son. This was after my son tried to do the same and waited longer than an hour. We also tried using the portal, and our request was unanswered. I really have held off on writing a bad review because I really like the doctors at this practice however the customer service of the receptionists is horrible. I understand they have changed their website provider (which is also awful) but the constant long lines to just get in the building and then to check in your appointment is insane. I always arrive early and end up being late to my appointments. The receptionists are nasty and talk to you like your the dumbest person they ever came in contact with. I even check in before hand because they bombard you with emails and texts and I still have to wait in the line. I only give two stars because I really like my doctors. I would give 1 star for just the reception experience and madness in the waiting area. Calling to make an appointment? (Because it never works online) forget it, you will wait 20+ minutes only for the call to be disconnected. * Update - I was actually thinking about removing this review because I do like the doctors. Today I was called by someone to set up a follow up appointment and she was SO nasty for no reason. She had said she was helping someone one who had to leave work early. She snapped multiple times and started off the call with the attitude already. Called for appointment for pediatric Gastric doctor in December was told next appointment is in June ? 7 months later!! Really!! I have been a client/patient of westmed for some time now. I did not want to leave a one-star review, as I highly respect and like the doctor I see there. However, the receptionists and billing department staff are extremely rude every time I have checked in for an appointment or requested assistance with a bill due to financial hardship. This clinic will not send bills to any insurance that doesn't participate with Westmed - even if your insurance will allow them to bill you while being out of your network, they will still not do it. So, if your insurance is out of network, do not bother coming here. Even with the "discount" for being "self-pay", it's not worth it, and they will only send your bill to collections on you for lack of payment, not notify you they have sent your bill to collections, and not even provide contact information for the collections agency they sent it to. While you do not need to roll out the red-carpet for clients, being professional, mature, and respectful is something you should strive to have your staff model, as your clinic is a place of business, so the staff and billing staff need to learn to be professional, to be mature, to learn to develop interpersonal skills and communication skills, and stop blaming others for when they fail to notify patients about their bills going to collection or for how the staff and billing department treats people. For if they were treated this way at the clinics they seek care, they likely would only complain and complain and demand it be rectified. Doctor, I see is well worth it -- but the rest of the staff, receptionists, billing department, they treat you so horribly, don't waste your time, go elsewhere. Spare yourself. read more

I'm actually a little shocked reading these reviews, as I have been with Westmed for many years and have nothing but great outcomes from them. All the doctors are amazing and very friendly. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and answer any questions you may need. I LOVE the online portal and the ability to access everything from my computer and book appointments online. It has definitely simplified the process. Of course there is the occasional long wait time for the doctor, but there have never been any major drawbacks that would make me rate any less. Their facilities are all very nice, especially the 3030 Westchester Ave. location. Very up-to-date and technologically advanced. The behavioral health department is a disaster. I am still waiting for my doctor to get a prior authorization for my medication and I am on something different in the meantime which isn't working. I emailed my doctor on the patient portal and tried calling many times but you can't get through to the doctor without going through the answering service. So I sent many messages through the answering service. My last option was to move my appointment to an earlier date just so I could get a chance to speak with the doctor. I scheduled a virtual visit. I got a text saying check my email for further instructions. I NEVER GOT THE INSTRUCTIONS. I was desperately calling the answering service to try to get help and they sent emails but nothing. I finally emailed my doctor again asking to call her. We had a phone visit not a virtual visit. I have had a dermatologist virtual visit so I already had medi-sprout. I had ZERO issues with that appointment-smooth as can be. The appointment that should go smoothly-my mental health appointment-has left me more stressed and anxious than ever. For someone who is suffering from anxiety that's not a good thing. I don't even know who to call anymore if I have a question. It's really bad. read more

MAMMOGRAMS - I have been with WestMed Medical for two years now. This was the first time I had a horrible experience. I had a mammogram done here and I must say it was absolutely horrible. I was visiting my GYN and she suggested while I was there I go downstairs and have a mammogram done. I thought how very nice and convenient to be right in the same building. I went down to the first floor and was escorted to the x-ray area. Very nice area provided lockers for your stuff and a robe to wear. Private sitting area. Then I get called in by Yolanda. She confirms my name blah, blah, blah and she prompts me towards the mammogram machine she pulls me this way and that way.. I get it - it's a hard area to take a picture of until the pressing starts. That woman was barbaric. I've never experience a mammogram that was so incredibly painful. I seriously had tears in my eyes and even told her does it have to be that pressed? I was raising my voice at the pain. She was unapologetic and basically told me if you want to be sure to get the right reading you need to do it this way. This isn't my first rodeo! Then she insults me by saying that "if you've never had this feeling before then your exam was not done right". I told her "that's not true" because I've been having mammograms for 15 years and I have never in my life experienced such excruciating pain as I experienced today. Oh my god she was just mean, rude and unapologetic. I think she realized how upset I was because she decided to put on a nice voice after the fact and explain to me what a Mammogram is. Umm Yolanda a bit too late for that. She was rude and told me when I was asking her to stop pressing so hard "don't tell me how to do my job". Will I go back to WestMed? Yes, I will go back but I will make sure to request someone other than this woman. She needs more training in bedside manner and how to take x-rays. There is no way it should hurt to this degree. WestMed Medical Group is a great convenient facility and most of their staff are highly trained and caring individuals. My point is this, if you are having a Mammogram done at WestMed Medical Group in Purchase, NY do yourself a favor if you see this person, request that someone else perform that x-ray. read more

Our ENT physician is excellent. The physician has operated on all three of our children. In person the office staff is lovely. Telephone and portal communication is horrible!!! The portal does not work for teenagers as they and their parents on their behalf can only send a message to a pediatrician. My child's doctor is a specialist so that eliminates that form of communication. In order to get a question, answered one makes a call to a call center in another state. A message is left for the doctor and then a call is returned by not always pleasant office staff. This process may work for those who have access to a phone all day; however, for those in service professions who are not able to immediately answer the phone, it is literally days of repeating the above process until one hits the lottery and is lucky enough to make a connection. read more

Went here for blood work and they decided to send it to 2 different labs - to get more money with two copays. My insurance confirmed it should have all went to one lab. One office visit, one blood work- why two copays? They are double bill me, and now sending me to collections for their wrong doing. I wish I could rate the doctor separately from the business. As a medical professional, Gail Delasho is excellent. Great bedside manner and seems to be well versed in her medical practice. The business operations however, are trash. We chose Gail because she was covered in our insurance network. My wife went in for her annual checkup, and we left with a great sense of customer satisfaction. Fast forward a week or so and we receive a bill in the mail for over $300, DESPITE the fact that our insurance covers the annual exam. We call our insurance to see what occured, and apparently the folks managing Gail's patient records coded the visit as something other than an annual well woman's exam, which indicated to our insurance provider that it was an uncovered visit. Naturally, we call Gail's office to discuss this. We receive word that they will look into it and adjust. Move forward a few weeks, and what do we see? Another bill in the mail with a slight adjustment on the outstanding balance, but still an outstanding balance of over $200. We call Gail's office again and argue about this. We're given assurances that they will update the code and work with our insurance provider to have the balance and remittance process worked out. We ask multiple times if there's any action needed on our end, and we are told that nothing is needed - Gail's team will update the paperwork and work with our insurance provider to ensure they get the billing info sorted out. We thought this was the end of the saga - in fact, many months pass with no contact. But of course, dealing with unethical medical billing practictioners is never that easy. MONTHS later, we receive another bill stating our balance is past due and that we owe, surprise surprise, an outstanding balance of over $200. Today we called the practice to get this sorted out, and again we have been given the run around. Shareice (forgive my spelling), a lady who presumably works the front desk, says she will take care of this issue within 5 business days, but I have no faith in this front office to get shit done that they state they will when we've been given false promises in the past. I'm compelled to write this review because it has now been nearly SEVEN months since our visit and we're still dealing with this stupid issue. The sad part is, we enjoyed having Gail as a provider, but because of these unethical billing practices and ridiculous amount of time/energy/stress expended on sorting this billing ordeal, we don't know if we will go back to her again. I know this is a long review, but I write it as a cautiounary tale for those of you considering Gail. And before you think I misperceive how medical insurance works, know that my father is a doctor and I am fully aware of the business side of how doctors earn their revenues/the doctor-patient-insurance provider relationship. What this office is doing is unethical - in order to generate more revenue for the practice, they are attempting to skirt insurance coverage by stating that they performed different services than those actually rendered so they are able to directly bill a larger portion of the balance to the patient instead of the insurance provider. Strategically, they do this because it is easier to bill, collect and deal with individuals (i.e. patients) than it is with large insurance companies. However, this is not our problem - Gail made the conscious decision to participate in our insurance network. If she/her team is struggling with billing and collecting from the network, that doesn't give them the right to go after patients' money. Again, the amount of time and energy we have spent on this is quite ridiculous and is worth much more than the $200+ we are being billed for. But I write this as a cautiounary tale - do not let doctors/business's like Gail's take advantage of you. Think twice before choosing to go here... I will be following up with Gail after the 5 business day promise to see if this issue has been rectified and will update this post accordingly. read more

Awful! Awful! Awful! This place makes you feel like you're in the twilight zone. I saw a dermatologist there who told me that a particular procedure I was inquiring about would not be covered by insurance and that she would do it for $200. I told her that I had seen two other doctors who said it was covered under insurance. She proceeds to tell me that she is not going to lie for me. I told her that I never asked her to lie. Another doctor I saw was a podiatrist who asked me to drop off nail clippings. A few weeks later, I went in. I went to the front desk to ask where I can drop them off and they did not know what I was referring to. They asked me to check upstairs. The receptionist upstairs said that the doctor was not in so she didn't know where to leave the nail clippings. I asked her if there was a lab and she said she needed to make a phone call to the lab and find out more details. The lab said that I needed a work order but I never received a work order from the doctor. The doctor just said to come back and drop them off. I asked the receptionist when the doctor would be in the office. She looked on the computer and said she had no idea when the doctor would be in or how late or early his hours were. So I had to leave with my specimen in my hand. I called back the next day and got the run around again. I wasted two doctor visits and co-pays for nothing except to discover that West med is an extremely unprofessional medical group. The staff members I interacted with were not able to assist me nor were they patient and willing to help. Awful awful awful!!!!! No way to run a medical group. read more

Well Westmed has done it again. I called in the morning asking them, if they can do some blood work, that I had a prescription for. I was told yes, I can go to Purchase location or Westchester ave. So at 2:00pm I show up to a locked down Westmed, due to the corona virus. I pass screening go upstairs in this now ghost town, hand over the script and am told, we can't do it, has to be authorized by my primary Doctor. However my primary Dr has retired and I have appointment with my new Dr in 7 days. Sorry we can't help you. Now, I have just had bi lateral knee surgery and need to go back in for a small procedure which requires anesthesia. We are so sorry. Can you imagine a patient that they have my full medical history, they can't do a simple blood test? I'm 6 weeks post op and they tell me go someplace else. So I left went to Greenwich hospital lab. Within 10 min blood work was done no past history no referrals just very nice people. I wish Westmed owners only have Westmed and their staff to treat them in a medical emergency. read more

I like this new building which has made this location more of a complex. There is a cafeteria and an open area. This open area is good for gatherings and sitting outside during warmer weather. Though parking under the covered structure has limited spaces if you're there early enough one can grab one. The parking lot spaces are pretty close to the buildings and the walk is minimal compared to other places. There are a variety of medical professionals there from ortho doctors to physical therapists to name a couple. One note is that the exit with the stop light seems a little bit awkwardly designed for exiting though entry is fine (if you keep bearing right along the outer perimeter. Making the left in some places seem kind of "awkward" IMHO. read more

Have you heard that they separate families at the Mexican border? Surprisingly, they also separate families at Westmed (albeit temporarily). After taking the normal temperature of both new Mom and new Dad who were wearing masks and **holding a 7-week-old infant** outside this building when rates of coronavirus have never been lower since March, a group of Westmed corporate employees required us to choose as to which parent is allowed into the building with our 7-week-old infant before vaccination shots. We are a new family and we support our infant together. We work together to make sure our infant is cared for and safe. Why choose only one parent to go inside? They wouldn't even allow one parent to stay in a waiting room just in case while the other parent goes into the appointment with the baby. After waiting on hold for over a half hour, we spoke with the corporate office's customer service to discuss the hardships of their one parent per infant policy (which we were not notified about in advance and which is not even listed on their website). The customer service representative argued with us. It almost seems that this medical group aims to make young families as uncomfortable as possible to ensure that they choose a different medical practice for all doctors' appointments in the decades to come. Furthermore, it is always a very long wait on the phone to speak to anyone at Westmed about booking an appointment, let alone anything else. All these corporate issues are very unfortunate for the excellent doctors who are part of this medical group and have nothing to do with the terrible customer service and aggressive border control. read more

I've attempted to give Westmed the benefit of the doubt. But I cannot anymore. It took me contacting the CEO of Westmed to get a simple swallow test scheduled. It took me over 3 weeks in attempts to get this test scheduled. It took the CEO less than 2 hours to assist me in getting the appointment. So now we come to October 5th. I contacted my health insurance provider because instead of a 30 day supply I wished to save money with a 90 day supply. They submitted the request on October 5th. No response from Westmed on October 8th, 11th, 12th or 13th. Medical provider then cancelled the order. On October 18th I call to get the ball rolling. I was promised on 2 different occasions that the appropriate prescription would be forwarded immediately. It is now October 20th and nothing has been done. I reached out to patient services of Westmed today and discussed what I needed and yet nothing. I plan on reaching to the CEO once again on Monday. I have even sent direct private messages to the doc, because they advertise this is what i should do and that hasn't worked. One time it took over 3 weeks for a response. I heard about westmed through word of mouth, everyone raved about it. Today I gave it a try and the place is garbage, or I should say the employees and doctor. The facility is nice and clean, very immaculate. The secretary was pleasant and patient, she tried to help as best as she could. Apparently, they never did eligibility prior to me arriving for my appt. Therefore this created a 1 hr issue, they claimed I have Guardian insurance, which is false. I have been in the medical field for the past 10 years, I know the front and back office, that includes eligibility. I confirmed my insurance and I checked the NPI number, I did my homework prior to my appt. My insurance is not Guardian health insurance. Finally, after seeking out a manager, she fixed the issue. This shouldve been my red flag alert, to run out of the building. I was called in and saw Dr. Fink. Dr. Fink was nice and very sweet, but he seemed distant and confused. I had to speak very slowly to him, while he typed. In my opinion, he needs to retire. He did not address any of my concerns, I left with more questions than answers. He claimed that my bloodwork was never faxed over, so I had them re-fax. He never waited around for the results and rushed me out of the room. He wanted the visit to end before it even started. He also put the incorrect medication in my chart. I will not be returning and hope no one else does. I know what a good doctor is and what to expect from a good doctor. Maybe he was back in his day, but not in 2018. Let's hope I don't get a bill, with there stupidity, thinking its Guardian once again. read more

This review is specific to Westmed Medical Group in Norwalk, CT. I've tried to be patient, I know it takes a while to work out kinks when new management takes over (This was Norwalk Medical Group previously). It's been over a year now and it's only gotten worse. Prescriptions when called in by the Pharmacy are not refilled in a timely manner. Orders for Blood work are not sent to the Lab when you're told they'll be there, so you show up at 7:30 AM on a Saturday for fasting blood work, and you've wasted your time, because they don't have the order. So you get to do it all over again the following Saturday, when you are PROMISED that the paperwork will be there and it STILL isn't. I know these things happen. I'm about as patient as a person can be. But last week, because my blood pressure medication was not refilled, I went home sick from work with a bp reading of 155/105 - and a splitting headache. I don't know a lot about medicine, but I know that that number is dangerously high. After the first of the year, my husband and I will be seeking a new Dr., sadly, we really do like our Dr. and he has always been very responsive, but whatever systems this Group has in place to take care of the behind the scenes paperwork just are not working. read more
