WestGate mall located in Spartanburg SC; my first time inside since college 2002. Our visit was on Saturday around noon in November. The mall itself is largely unchanged outside and in with the exception of closed stores. Upon entry at foodcourt you can look up the second floor and see the theatre no longer operates. There was one visible closed off entry inside to detached store I think was sporting goods before but no others. There is Belk, Dillards, JC Penny's and distinctly remember a dedicated Pandora store. In the old Sears building is now Rural King, farm equipment. There is a Costco not part of the mall but built very near behind. I wasn't sure what to expect walking inside, but to my pleasant surprise it seems to be a surviving mall for now. Come to this location for some centralized shopping and keep our malls going. read more

Some shopping malls are thriving, some are surviving, some are dead. Westgate in Spartanburg seems to be surviving as they have most of their shops open and only a few storefronts are vacant. This was a nice walk and shop as it was a little too cold out to do an outdoor outlet mall. Indoors, walking through Dillard's and others was pleasant though the prices are definitely not low. We used the Dillard's entrance as it's always nice to set your expectations high when you enter a shopping mall. Once past that wallet drain, the mall is in good shape and well lit. WARNING WHEELCHAIR WOMEN!! The handicap stall in the women's restroom nearest the food court has been "temporarily" out of service for MONTHS as of 2/2026. There is one stall equipped with grab bars, but it is barely wide enough for a rollator, and watch your hands. Also its door is broken. The other mall restroom is at the end of a long haul which begins at the children's play area. Plan your hygiene needs accordingly, especially if you are planning to purchase food and or drink. read more

Ever heard the old saying she ain't what she used to be? That applies to this once fantastic mall loaded with speciality shops! A gigantic parking lot compliments this place. There was a day long passed that it was difficult to find a parking spot for your car! Currently, a large percentage of store space stands empty! What happened here is almost universal in nature. I went to BELK to pick up an online order, the store was closed. I called the next day to get their hours and asked why they were closed; I was told they closed early for Halloween???? Really??? That mall parking lot is entirely too dark, it looks unsafe. read more

This used to be one of the best malls in SC, now most stores are no longer open, and those that are have horrible selection. It's dark & dreary inside and closes at 7pm. It's really sad what has happened to Westgate Mall. read more

I was surprised by the large number of vacant stores inside the mall, not even covered over, the sparse number of shoppers early on a Friday evening and the unkempt grass and greenery around the former Sears building. I had been to this mall before, in the early 1990s, and it was dated then, but it ought to be in better shape than it is, being now the only mall in town, and being in a good location, in the center of Spartanburg's retail area. The interior space in the mall was recently purchased by Namdar for over $15,000,000 for 431,306 square feet of space. Even assuming that the purchase price was $15,999,999.99, that's a price of less than $37.10 per square foot. What kind of house could you get for that price per square foot? Enough said. read more

One thing I miss from up north....the shopping and the fashion. This run-down mall needs a facelift and better department stores.

I enjoy going to westgate mall. I have never had a problem with it. Some people say, "this mall is going down hill"... but, honestly... it just isn't a big mall. They are adding on more stores here and there. Of course some stores don't make it (that's life). There's plenty of places to shop and look around here. My favorite stores to visit are American Eagle, Bath & Body Works and Victoria's Secret. They keep the mall clean and the bathrooms kept up, as well. read more

Okay. So this mall has not been the most popular through the years. Let's face it, it's kind of bland from the outside. But the management is really doing a great job of stepping up their game. They have done a lot of remodeling and some new stores are gradually going in. Dick's Sporting Goods is here now. Red Bowl Asian restaurant is here. There's a Chick fil A in the food court. There is even a movie theater! We found several GREAT sales at this mall today. You really should visit some time. Just ignore the exterior and go inside to find some hidden gems there read more

H&M joining this location bumped it from a 3 to 4 star mall! They've got Chick-fil-A and a Red Bowl. What more do I need? Well for starters, cute clothes and home decor... I love the beautiful Bath and Body Works merged with White Barn, its seriously the most beautiful looking and smelling store in the entire mall. The Express and Charlotte Russe here are nice too. This is the smallest, most boring mall I have ever been to. There isn't any stores to really go in or would want to go in. I Rather travel to Haywood mall in Greenville, that is a small mall as well, but at least it has more stores and nicer people! read more

I keep trying to remind myself that I am only here on vacation. Wait. This is my future residence. Bad horror music starts playing now. This mall had all the classic makings: a food court, a plethora of shoe stores (mainly among the athletic variety), a few notable department stores, and then your typical rag-tag mall extras. So why the three stars? 1. If I wanted to go to the alleys of LA and do shopping- I would. Why are they actually writing these places off as stores in a mall? 2. JC Penny's was the only department store I knew. So sad. 3. Bed-Bath and Beyond, Bath and Body Works, and Hallmark were the only stores I entered and worth entering. I know teens and their parents were being drawn into Hollister by the dozens, but I stopped being a size 0 in the sixth grade. 4. Go here if you want to people watch. My personal award went to the woman rockin the side pony with the faux fur zebra coat. You girl. 5. There are plenty of parking spaces. Lucky me. read more

Last time I visited, I thought the mall was closing. Some of the most unique and best stores are closing at westgate. There is nothing left that I would actually go shop in except maybe Dillard's. Saturday August 4, 2012 our 1994 Crown Victoria stolen from Westgate shopping mall in Spartanburg, SC 29301. Tax free weekend. Security and police notified. I conversed with many in security and some are saying that I didn't know anything about this or I didn't have time to check cameras. Making long story short they final said it's a blind spot in parking lot and that's the police job. I said, the police can't do everything and the crime started at the mall. I wanted to know who is watching the cameras and who is patrolling the parking lot and what time did security patrol the parking lots.. They said the cameras rotates and security do patrol parking lots but they have to eat, and can't be everywhere. Security said, if I park in parking lot and since our cameras rotates and when they go back around it will not pick up my vehicle. If we find out anything we will let the investigator know and I hope the car is found. If anyone out there were in the parking lot on the above day between 1-330pm and notice any usual activities or has any information contact 911. This car parked on the east side facing Blackstock Rd near Belks dept. Description of car custom paint job and Sprite written on hood and obey your thirst on side, color green,yellow and blue. Picture of stolen car in left corner. Also, did anyone see security patrolling during that time or any other time. If the cameras not picking up, what's the purpose of having cameras . No signs in Westgate Mall parking lot stating (DO NOT PARK HERE BECAUSE IT'S A BLIND SPOT CAMERAS WILL NOT PICK UP). When I starting asking many questions they told me to stop calling and that's the police job. This mall has very little to offer. I was excited about MAC coming into this mall. I have worn MAC for years. Probably 7 to be exact. I've spent more money than I can count on this product. The customer service at this Mac location is less than par. This is my 2nd time experiencing this type of of service. If I am spending 150-200 bucks on makeup refills I expect great customer service. I will now be on the search for a new makeup brand or head to Haywood Mall in Greenville for my needs. No more wasting time at this location. read more

I'm a native of Spartanburg, and although I love my city, I really get bummed about our mall. The movie theater inside is nice, and I frequent it with my kids, but the stores within the mall just can't seem to stay open for more than a year or two. It's also not as family-friendly to walk around and browse. It seems to be more a teenage hangout (which my daughter likes, of course). Whenever I'm doing a lot of shopping and window browsing (Christmas shopping, especially) I usually have to go to Greenville to their Haywood Mall. I'm hopeful though, that the mall will pick up and one day offer great stores that stay put and keep me in my own city! read more

The WestGate Mall is a sad relic of mall. The stores that are still open have such small inventories that a trip to the WestGate Mall is nearly always nothing more than a waste of time. Save yourself the frustration and drive to Greenville or Charlotte. read more

We stopped to let our child play at the playground for about 30 minutes at 11am and was ran off so they can clean it . I understand this has to be done and is totally necessary. But why during mall hours when kids are playing. Why can't this get done before the mall opens or after it closes . We only had about an hour to stay in the mall and he did not get to play at all . Please clean the playground in hours before mall opens or after mall closes . School is out kids want to play. Ours is not in school yet and loves to play at the playground. The mall is definitely improving with new stores like PS by Aero, Maurices, Charlotte Russe and a good mix of local shops. The food court could use a couple of new options, but Red Bowl is good. Overall, this is a good addition to the shopping mix on the west side of Spartanburg. Just about everything but the super high end retailers are here. read more

The mall itself is decent. It's nothing spectacular compared to other malls. Many of the stores have closed down. I am happy though that a few newer stores have opened up here such as Maurice's and Charlotte Russe. Westgate has nothing on Haywood's selection, unfortunately. The one thing I always preferred about Westgate was that the people at the kiosks didn't run up and harass you to buy their products like they do at Haywood. Now however, they HAVE started doing just that. If you're a woman especially, watch out for the kiosk operators selling hair straighteners and wands. They'll try and trick you by handing you a pamphlet of sorts and then they try and reel you in. Those particular hair tools are super marked up and they will try and tell you that they'll give you their employee discount, when even THAT price is majorly marked up. I was told that with the "employee discount" a flat iron would cost $90. I later looked online and found that Amazon sells the exact one for about $35. My advice is to either ignore the kiosk operators completely or loudly proclaim "No thank you!" as they try and speak to you. read more
