I did win many of the items I bid on and lost a couple due to higher bidders, as expected in an auction. My wife and I went up to pick up the items and I got delayed on the gun applications, which was sort of expected with an election going on. I looked at all the items and they were exactly as represented and actually I was pleasantly surprised with the condition as it met or exceeded the pictures and description. As to the prices, they were really fantastic and because I read the fine print, I knew there was a percentage fee to the Auction House for online bidding. The fees are standard and expected, so I was aware of them and still adding them in to the prices I got really excellent deals. I would buy from Reata with complete confidence. The staff were extremely helpful and positive, we discussed some upcoming auctions early next year and I look forward to placing some bids on some really great stuff. If you are looking for art, or modern or antique weapons and so much more you should check out Reata and if you are like me, local, go in and see all the cool stuff they have and talk to their very helpful staff.

Since it was at an actual store versus a private party I decided to drive on up and take a look. I'm glad that I did. Peter was super helpful and after looking around the store I ended up purchasing the stove from the ad. I also picked up a couch and a fantastic hardcover book to add to my collection. I didn't have my truck so I made arrangements to come back in a couple of days. When I made it back up, Peter helped me load everything up and couldn't have been nicer. He also gave me a great recommendation for a place to grab some lunch! The store isn't your usual junk shop and they have a lot of stuff you can use in your daily life, not just collectibles and things to catch dust. Their prices really impressed me too. Everything was reasonably priced especially when compared to prices in the valley. I told Peter I would be back and will keep an eye out for future ads.

It's nice that there's a mixed bag though, because you can sometimes find some treasures if you look hard enough. The scheduling is a bit funky, but if you know that you can't come for pick up the day after the auction, then you probably shouldn't bid. I've had to forgo bidding several times because of that policy. I wish they would get back to in-person auctions again, as it was considerably more fun that way. Also, you get to wander around and look more closely at what is coming up for auction. Of course they take pictures, but there's nothing better than seeing stuff in person. They do have preview days, but they are pretty far away for me to drive all the way out there unless the item coming up for bid is going to be expensive. My main criticism is on the condition reports. The condition reports are usually quite generic and don't always tell you much of what's wrong with the piece. They have gotten better over the years, but if you're going with a mainly online sale structure, I would like a bit better explanation of any issues.

If the bids were in $50 increments and I placed the $650 bid, wouldn't the winning bid need to go to $700? What a scam.

    Nellis Auction - Pickup 05/26

    Nellis Auction

Review of My Love/Hate Relationship with Nellis Auction (Phoenix)…read moreNellis Auction is basically MAC.BID's slightly more organized cousin... but the chaos still lives there. The good news: the items are usually described much better during bidding, and most of the time you actually get really cool stuff for ridiculously cheap prices. I've scored some genuinely awesome finds that made me feel like a professional bargain hunter. One of the best parts is the pickup system. You schedule an appointment, pull into the lot, and they actually bring the items out to your car. No wandering around a giant warehouse playing "Where's My Stuff?" like a scavenger hunt. That alone deserves points. Flexible payment options are also nice, especially for those of us who occasionally make questionable late-night bidding decisions. Another nice feature is that if your account is in good standing, you can choose not to complete the purchase if you decide the item really wasn't what you needed after all. It doesn't automatically charge your card the next morning and leave you feeling personally victimized by your own bidding habits. Now... the other side of the relationship. Every once in a while, an item you won mysteriously becomes "not found." Poof. Gone. Refunded like it never existed. And of course it's always the one item you were actually excited about. Then there are the updated terms of service. Let's just say if you miss or need to reschedule your pickup appointment, G-d help you. There are restocking fees, rescheduling fees, and possibly a fee for breathing the wrong way near the parking lot. Even if you submit multiple help desk tickets through ZenDesk explaining the situation, you may still be waiting on a response long enough to question your life choices. I'm currently still waiting on my last ticket... but I'm not holding my breath. Customer service chat can also be... entertaining. Some reps seem about as familiar with the policies as the rest of us are. And then there's the pickup check-in system. Each parking spot has a printed QR code hanging on a pole that you're supposed to scan. In theory, great idea. In reality... it works about as often as my Wi-Fi during a monsoon. Item condition can also be a gamble. One time I bought a "brand new Sonicare toothbrush - new in package." It arrived looking like it had already lived a full and meaningful life in someone else's bathroom. Straight to the garbage. Pro tip: never buy clothing. You may receive items that appear to have been previously loved... worn... returned... and possibly attacked by deodorant. I once opened a child's coat that had deodorant stains on it and immediately escorted it directly to the trash like it was a biohazard. It definitely feels like nobody is actually checking these items, and you can't really inspect them before leaving either. So sometimes you win big... and sometimes you win a future trip to the garbage can. BUT... despite all of this... it's still weirdly fun. It's like a digital treasure hunt where most of the time you actually do find something cool -- and often brand new -- for way cheaper than retail. Do I sometimes question my choices? Yes. Do I still open the app and start bidding again? Also yes. Overall rating: Better system, better finds, slightly less chaos... but still a thrilling little gamble. Pro Tip: Check your items if you can before leaving. will save you a trip.

Watch Nellis go out of business for their RIDICULOUS new terms of service. This place has been…read moregoing down hill FAST the part year. They cant even be bothered to inspect the items before listing them. The items they sell here are junk. Half the time the item isn't as described and/ is missing one or more items. Save your money. The "value" isn't really there. There's a REASON these items were returned to Amazon and not relisted. You'll get a better deal at a garage sale. And returns take DAYS (5-14 business days to be exact) to process and refund. It's really not even worth it anymore. My last large purchase (16 items) EVERYTHING had to be returned because it was either broken, missing pieces, ripped, stained, completely empty, non functional, not as described, or the wrong size. I'll be deleting the app and blocking their emails.

I said I would prefer to go to auction. They responded by disabling a working item for preview (that had just been serviced to be in working order), incorrectly listed it on their website (they didn't bother with a brand name, model or year) & then sold it for a fraction of the value. When I complained, I was told they "were sorry I felt that way" and nothing more. After years as a customer, I will not go back.

If you want killer deals then make a trip out, there was this entire dinning set (table, chairs and sideboard) that sold for $10 and a HUGE sectional with a hide-a-bed and reclining seats that sold for $525!! There was a high-end Baldwin piano that sold for $900 and beautiful china cabinets with matching table and chairs...this place is awesome!! The auctions are sorted into 4 different rooms two inside and two outside. The items get better in quality as they move from outside to inside, back to outside and then to the last inside room which carried some big ticket furniture and appliances. There is a $50 refundable deposit on a bidding stick (which you need in order to participate in all the fun) and let me tell you it can get intense!! It's a great date idea and good fun for any one.
