I am a student here and they are a really good college. They work with your schedule, the counselors help you a lot, and are there for you with whatever you need. The first thing you hear when you walk in is a Hello good morning/afternoon from the person at the front desk. read more

I learned a lot. But not from ms. Gregory. She has a masters degree in psychology. She'll let you know it 12 times a class. She'll also belittle you for getting a degree that has to do with using your hands and not your brain. Calm down lady. You got a masters degree to teach mechanics psychology. Your ego needs to be taken down about 20 notches. Mike, eric and shawn are awesome teachers! Theres a few thats not, just beware. Also, my tools and toolbox were 8 grand. Big chunk of my student loan. You cant bring your own tools, you have to buy theirs. But if you fail or drop out of school, you CANT KEEP YOUR TOOLS, BUT STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM. Read that again. They also charge you a large inconvenience fee because now they have to sell them at a discounted price. Now read that again. They will make money THREE TIMES on the same tools. They charge you for them, then a large fee if they fail, and sell them to other people at a discounted price because you dont get to keep them. I graduated, but know 4 people who dealt with this. This school is all about money, and they dont care about qaulity. And there is WAAAAAY too much homework. I worked 10 hours a day, came to this school 4 hours a day, then was swamped in homework. Oh, and if you have ear damage, jack, the school admin, could care less. The tuner class runs the dyno with no warning. read more

This college has the right idea, but does need to make a few changes to really be top-notch. I have attended here for the duration of the Welding program, and have also had exposure with some of the other programs as well. Western Tech has two campuses, one in the North East, and one in the Far East. I have only been at the Far East location, located at 9624 Plaza circle, so my review will partain to this location only. I will start with the good. The school has really grown over the last few years. They are now offering programs in Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, TDI diesel, HVAC, Performance tuning, Nursing, and Welding. Now I can't speak for the Nursing Program or HVAC, however, for the other programs mentioned, the school has made valuable partnerships with top organizations like Don Schumacher Racing (NHRA) and Lincoln Electric (Welding). WTC has really expanded those programs, and have lab material that would rival any school. Especially woth the welding prgoram, recent partnerships with Lincoln electric translates into newer equipment in the future, and better tools available. The courses are based on a 80-20 curriculum, meaning 80% of the schooling is lab work, while 20% is in the classroom. This is great, especially for hands-on learners. WTC also does a great job with career placement services, and they pride themselves on helping former students to get started within the career path they have chosen. Also, WTC hosts job and career fairs throughout the year, right here on campus. If you are prior military, this school is great for Vets. I am a vet myself, and they have done a great job dealing with the VA on my behalf regarding ED benefits. One thing to note, there is a daycare right here on campus. It is a third party childcare center, Castle Tales, but they do share the same building as WTC. I have written a seperately review for them also. Now the downfalls to this school. It is overcrowded. Although the lab areas are large, the school likes to cram as many students as physically possible, making for a degraded learning atmosphere. For the welding program specifically, the morning class is so crowded it has become difficult to do your daily work and practice just because of the sheer number of bodies in comparison to the number of working equipment available. Another thing with the welding program is that a lot of equipment gets broken, and stays broken. Now I understand that students break stuff, however, the school does need to do a better job of holding the students accountable. Then possibly the students won't be as careless or reckless, and the equipment will not get broken as often. I know this may seem trivial, but when you are here everyday, it gets old fast. This is a private school, so accreditation standards are high. This Translates into the school being very strict on attendance and grades. This really isn't a school where you can really slack off, or not show up, and expect to succeed. If you are one to be on top of your education, and be proactive, then this is the school for you. read more

I'm a previous alumni and I am also a VET. I went through the diesel program and also went through the DATE program. 2018-2020. There was about 30% Shop time when I first started but the DATE program bumped it up about to 50% hands on time. It was very self taught in shop time because it was mostly diag time. The shop time was good if you took the time to learn and wanted to be there. The reason why I put the school at 2 stars is because of the financial side. Never have I seen a vocational college ask for 30 plus for a program. And on top of that me being a vet the post 9-11/GI bill should have been able to take care of that. In the end I didn't get my diploma because they say I still owe money with financial aids. Trying to get with finance at the school and I've been trying contact them and it's been around a month since I first got to speak or replied from an email. Recommend only coming here unless you have DEEP pockets read more

This PRIVATE FOR PROFIT "school" has a very low graduation rate and it costs TWICE as much as the national average! There is no amenities for students ie fitness center or daycare. There is a lot of smoke and mirrors with the financial department. They see a veteran and their eyes turn green! And if you're a civilian? 100 application fee for filling out your own damn paperwork! They care more about money than their students well being! They don't care if you're living on the streets as long as they get their money! Shame on you WT! We had a bad experience with the "counselors". From my understanding, they are there to advice the students and guide them. Instead, they paint a pretty picture to lure them in. Counselors are not very knowledgeable when it comes to the requirements each profession needs. They also fail to tell the students that if they're field requires a bachelor's degree, the only way to obtain it is through Western Tech, which equals another debt of 30+ thousand dollars.
