Cannot say enough about this company! Dustin and his crew do outstanding work; and will try to accommodate your drop off and pick up times to meet your schedule. We were on a tight schedule coming in from Helena MT with a bison that needed to be processed. Dustin met us at the shop at 7:30 at night to take in the animal. Like I said, outstanding cheerful service. I will always use them for any animal I need cut and wrapped. This is the second year I have done so. read more

I hunted with Boulder Creek Outfitters and they take their clients meat to Western Meats in Grangeville. It was my mistake for not asking how much they charge!! I killed a small bull calf and it was in great shape and clean. when I picked up my meat it frozen and vacuum sealed. This is where the good part ends. My bill was $496.00. They have a minimum charge of $400.00 processing fee. I only had steaks, stew meat and hamburger made. Nothing special. I can understand the rush fee. But the total cost is way out of line. I have had elk and deer processed for half that cost. Shame on me this time but I will not recommend Western Meats because they charge way too much. I am also passing this onto the outfitter so he can warm his clients. They are a ripoff and take advantage of out of area hunters. read more

Avoid this business and take your wild game to another location. They lost my deer burger and my elk back strap & loins. And their answer was "oh well." Also, the owner has a bad attitude to his customers. He is definitely in the wrong business and should find work else where. In 35+ years, I have never seen a worse meat processor. Not worth the hassle - haul your meat down the road to another butcher. read more

I would NOT recommend using western meets for wild game. Took an elk there last year and was shocked at how much it cost. To add to the cost, half the bags weren't sealed properly, so half my meat is freezer burnt. I took my elk there in 4 quarters + back straps and loins. The quarters did have some dirt and hair from dressing it in the field. I find dirt and hair in the majority of packages I open. Specify if you want 1 lb packages of burger, otherwise you'll get back what ever they feel like giving you. None of the packages of steak are consistent. It's a surprise every time you open a package. Some have 3 steaks and some have 4 or 5. I've even found a single piece of loin packaged by itself. Don't waste your hard earned money and take your meat to Lewiston or Riggins. read more

This has been a long time coming but I just have to say something. My husband hunted with an outfitter and they used Western Meats to process all of the game that the hunters got. The meat was packaged well but there is one thing I cannot get passed. Every package that I opened weather it was steak or burger had pieces of elk hair in it. When I made gravy with the burger pieces of elk hair floated on the top and they charged him a cleaning fee when the meat was processed. Pretty sure we will not have anything done by them again and I am glad the meat is almost gone. read more
