I began my therapist/patient relationship with him in one of his workshops. When that was done, I began to see him 1 on 1. As a gay man, I was skeptical of seeing a straight therapist. I was dead wrong! Shaun is fantastic. My ONLY negative is his not taking certain insurance, especially Medicaid/Medicare. Otherwise, he's the best therapist I have had in a very long time.

I was in weekly group therapy with Levine for two years along with monthly individual sessions…read more During that time I experienced confrontation, false accusations, violation of trust, and reacting in a personal manner to comments made by me. There was more damage than healing and growth that took place with Levine as therapist. He was eventually replaced by his supervisor and left the group. I would not recommend Levine for either group or individual therapy.

Within six months of sessions; I started at a job I love, I've begun repairing old wounds with my family, I volunteer, and after a year, I now live and work in Los Angeles and have weekly video sessions with Carolyn. Nobody I know thinks that they "need therapy" yet their wounds, untreated pain, and need for validation are always the elephant in the room. If it hurts me this much to see it, I can imagine how much you are hurting. I've been there. Others notice, believe me. You are worth it. Your mind needs care just like your body needs care. As Carolyn says, "Put your oxygen mask on first."

I found Dr. Anderson to be exactly the right therapist for me. Over the last 20 years I've been in…read moretherapy several times and have seen a few psychiatrists for medications. One of my therapists was just a few years out of school and I felt like he was trying to fit me into a case study formula. Another one I liked better because he was smart and seemed kind, but after months of sessions I still didn't feel that he understood me. None of the psychiatrists helped at all. Maybe a felt better on the medicines, but I couldn't be sure. One of the doctors told me that "I know the perfect medicine to help you", and after three months I just felt worse. I stopped all that, but after a year or so my old dark feeling started creeping back over me, and I thought I had to try therapy again. One of my friends had heard about Dr. Anderson, and I was desperate to get out from that constant cloud. Dr. Anderson is great! She made me feel comfortable pretty soon, even though I was feeling skeptical because of my previous frustrating attempts at getting help. Dr. Anderson listened to me carefully and when she spoke, I had a sense that she knew what I was feeling. I knew she had lots of experience and it showed. I knew that I was in good hands. She also had a comfortable attitude which helped me relax. I knew that I was talking to a professional person, but she also felt like a real person. It felt like I had known her for a long time, even after a few meetings. She helped me more than anyone I had gone to before. I'm now optimistic about my future. I feel like I lucked out, and can't recommend a therapist more highly. Thank you!
