It does get busy, understandably, but it's always worth a trip anyway. The car park is large so there is usually somewhere to park the car. There's an instore cafe which serves drinks, snacks and cheap meals. There are always plenty of bargains to be had instore. The stock levels seem good and the staff are friendly and helpful.

However, there was not a shelf-stocker in sight! Tesco's seemed to be running automatically with no human help. Aside from the people working on the tills there was no sign of Tesco worker human life anywhere! Although there was nobody around to answer my queries, it didn't take me long to answer my own questions because everything was where you would expect it to be, and the aisles were in a sensible, obvious pattern. This place is cheap, as you might expect, but I'm sure they've jacked the prices a wee bit to fleece the richer Cliftonites on its doorstep. To be fair to the small store, they do stock a wide range of food, including a fairly decent fruit and veg section (which is usually the first thing to go when they open a Metro or Express job). Magazines, newspapers and alcohol (essentials that shouldn't be taxed in my book) are all well stocked too. What's more, there's even a tiny post office hidden at the back of this place - if you can't find it, it's closed, by the way, as it is tucked away behind a fake wall when not doing business.

The first thing I wanted to do after arriving at Heathrow - grabbing a hot coffee from Waitrose (free for MyWaitrose card holders) and a pack dark chocolate digestives and enjoy a stroll through a lovely green park (England is full of open green spaces). So when I say I was thinking about going to Waitrose during my flight across the pond, I'm actually not exaggerating. Okay, so here is the low down. Waitrose is not cheap but it is quality. If you follow the deals though, you can buy wisely and buy value. For about £2 or £3 you can get a whole raw chicken and a £1 avocado during their half-price sale (on now) which actually seem on par or even cheaper than home. I recently grabbed an uber delicious crispy salad, mince for a delicious braised mince and nice crusty bread for under £5. I am from Los Angeles, where I am spoiled with abundant fresh veg and really great value food prices. When it comes to groceries, if quality matters you shop here. And if you are on a student budget with champagne tastes (like me) go for the deals and always keep an eye out for the exceptional deals running close to closing hours. My favourite items at Waitrose are most often the veg, always crisp and very tasty. I have to admit, I don't always get a tomato that taste like a tomato at the other grocery chains like I do at Waitrose. Here at Henleaze, you can enjoy a free car park, self-serve coffee, wide and well-stocked selections, and friendly staff. The essential line is Waitrose's own label and you will find prices comparative to other big shops.

On my way out of the cinema, I have on occasion done a moderate sized shop here in the past, which I think a lot of people do. For to be able to shop here for your weekly groceries, you would need to be on a slightly higher pay scale than myself. The only people who can afford this place are the same people who buy all of their furniture from John Lewis. And the fact that the two chains are connected is no coincidence. This is high end, quality food for the filthy rich. Everything about this place screams upper middle class, but not in a bad way. The fish is fresher than other supermarkets, the yokes of the eggs are more yellow, the breads are softer. It is quality food and in this life you get what you pay for I guess.

Here on the corner of Carlton Court we have The Co Operative supermarket. No normal Co Op is this one, oh no. This is more than a mere supermarket. Rather, it is an experiment in what would happen if a staff entirely composed of elderly people were to serve a customer base composed again of entirely elderly people. Things move slowly here, shall we say. News for sale, gossip for free.

I don't think I have a co-op near my house but I kind of wish I did, somewhere it doesn't feel quite as corporate as some of the other chain supermarkets. I was impressed by some of the deals, I got 3 packs of (reasonable quality) 8 sausages for just a fiver! This particular branch was well set out, in my opinion the aisle where a little close together, I'm not sure if two largish people could pass each other, but I suppose you can't blame them for wanting to fit as much in as possible!

Then in the space of a few months two of the big players popped up - Tesco Metro at College Green and Sainsburys Local in Broad Quay. Each can complete with a much-needed cash point in the area. Previously, people had to either walk halfway up Park Street to the HSBC or halfway down Baldwin Street to the Alliance and Leicester. Sainsburys Local is your bog standard Sainsburys Local but it looks much nicer and newer. It sells the usual from sandwiches to chocolate and soup to milk and eggs. It's also handy for the smokers in the nearby office blocks. I don't know about you but I'd much rather shop at Sainsburys than Tescos and now you can if you live or work around the city centre in Bristol.

Good selection of ready-to-eat sandwiches and meals, even late at night. Besides that, it's not…read moremuch different from any other Sainsbury's. Oh, unless you love Reese's. They also happen to have an epic selection of Reese's peanut butter cups, pieces and even the oft-unseen crunchy candy bar. Heady stuff.
