If I ever need a tow truck again, this is who I'm going to call. He was actually my third call, but the first two from 411 were of no help. (First guy was too far out and would have been an hour wait. The second guy couldn't figure out where I was despite very simple and easy instructions.) This guy - THIS GUY, knew exactly where I was. He was there in less than 15 minutes. Once there he even gave me an inservice for Wrecker Service 101. He took his time making sure my small car with two flats wouldn't get damaged or fall of his wrecker. He stopped at an ATM so I could get some cash, and he brought me home. read more

I had great luck with West University Wrecker Service. He was very careful to slow down for bumps, potholes, etc. while towing my car. He also drove safely and used his turn signals when changing lanes and turning. He gave me a very precise quote before he towed my car, and then he actually came in under the quote by $5. Broke down on the south loop in a restaurant parking lot after coming out of lunch. Knew I needed a wrecker soon, as I had to grab kids from school in an hour and a half. I've got to say, I was a little leery calling West U Wrecker given the name; I was worried it may be a little pricey. In fact, they were not my first choice, but no one else could accommodate. Bob was awesome. I read the reviews and did see the one bad but opted to give him a shot with all of the other reviews being highly positive. I called Bob in the middle of rush hour to give me a town from the west side of town all the way to the east side. He was extremely friendly, hooked up my car with extra care (which I can't say the same for the first wrecker I tried), and made for some entertaining discussion on the ride home. Where do I start with Bob?? First of all he wasn't my first choice and I called many other places before hand. I either got people that were too busy or places that were going to charge me $165 for a tow of only 8 miles. Then I called this place and I soon as I heard Bob's voice I knew he was going to be a straight shooter. He asked what type of car I had, where I was, and where I was going to make sure he could give me a good estimate. He called me a few minutes later and said $80...not only did this match my best price but he offered to take me to an ATM since he only accepted cash and I only had a debit card. Everyone else was either too far away, didnt offer taking me to an ATM, or was too damn expensive. But Bob was different and he gave me a good estimation on time of when he was gonna get to me. After he hooked up my car and headed on the road we started telling each other our life stories. He didn't feel like a random guy but a friend I could trust who I happened to have a great conversation with the whole ride. Not only that but when the bank ATM was broken he said he would wait for me while I waited in line to get money with smile. I took a long time but when I came back he had no anger towards me for taking up his time and he understood that things happen just like a friend would. He got me to my mechanic without any trouble and I am honestly happy I met him. Wish it would have been under different circumstances but what are you gonna do? Found Bob on Yelp! He was such a help this morning. I called 3 different tow places last night to make an appointment for today and they all were giving me 4 hour windows so I gave up as I wanted to miss as little work as possible today and wanted a prompt appointment. I called Bob at about 7:46AM and he was at my car by 8:18AM I couldn't have asked for faster service this was amazing! I feel the price I was given for distance was fair and he was very friendly, funny, and entertaining on our way to the shop where we taking my car. After he unloaded my car he saw that I was going to have to wait alone ( there were a bunch of men in the surrounding shops hanging around in the parking lot / I was a female alone and stranded since my car wouldn't start) so he made sure to ask me if I would be okay there alone. I said yes, but i'm sure if I said no he would have stayed there and waited for the shop to open with me. Hopefully I never need him again, but i;ll be saving his number just in case. Broke down in Bellaire. Engine would not turn over. Starter was dead. I called and he was "Johnny on the spot" so to speak. Got there within 15 minutes and new what the problem was. Towed me to my favorite auto service provider and they had my repairs taken care of. This sort of thing can shake you up when you have important commitments to take care of but Bob is the kind of guy who can make you feel at ease in this type of situation.
