This dentist office is very clean and professional. There are a lot of forms to fill out prior to coming, but I appreciate how thorough they are. Parking lot is a little small. We've seen Dr. Kate twice for my toddler and she did a great job cleaning. thoroughly despite his tantrums. We also saw Dr. Paravani but she was not as thorough as she did not clean his molars. West U had us come back to do a full cleaning with Dr. Kate after I raised some questions for no additional cost. read more

Beware: Lip/Tongue tie diagnosis and procedure. Here's what happened with us. Right after our daughter's 1st birthday, we took her to West U Pediatric Dentistry for her first dentist appointment. We were expecting just an initial cleaning, counting teeth, etc etc but they caught us off guard when they told us she had a "very pronounced" lip and tongue tie and would need a procedure to correct both. They told us without this procedure, she would experience delays with speech and eating. They also said she would suffer breathing and orthodontic issues later in life. On top of this - they told us if we did not do this procedure within 2 months, she would have to be put under anesthesia for it since she would be too big to swaddle. We were given pricing and paperwork and told each procedure would be $1,500, more if we needed anesthesia. As you might imagine we were blindsided and our initial reaction was "we will do whatever it takes for our daughter", but felt uncomfortable with the entire visit so decided to discuss with our pediatrician first. Our wonderful pediatrician told us not to proceed with any procedures without a second opinion from a Texas Children's ENT. We scheduled with the ENT and saw her today. The doctor said her lip and tongue are both within the normal range and that we "shouldn't consider releasing either any time soon." She said there has been a national trend of overprescribing the procedure for lip and tongue release, and there is a national board that has now drafted protocols for when it actually needs to be done. She said our daughter doesn't meet those criteria by any stretch. She also asked how much the dentist was charging. When we told her $1,500, she said that was outrageous. She recommended we not respond to them and find another dentist, which we have already done. TLDR; get a second opinion and trust your instinct. read more

Dr. Gandhi is an excellent pediatric dentist! She is an expert in the realm of tongue ties as well. Both our girls had tongue ties at birth, so we wanted a pediatric dentist who could follow their development over the years & intervene/treat as necessary to keep them healthy. She is very busy but always kind. She is also very airway focused & evaluates children for orthodontic needs early -- which is better than the standard orthodontic approach which only starts after the bones and structures are largely fixed & fused, making adjustments a lot slower and more difficult. The only downside is the cost. They aren't in network with our dental insurance (Delta Dental) and the prices of the regular dental visits are $$$$. Like almost jaw droppingly expensive. But the upside is that she caught our daughter's issues early and is doing the orthodontic treatment in-house starting at age 5 -- so things can progress well read more

I rarely leave negative reviews however I must warn others about our experience. This office heavily promotes the snipping of tongue and lip ties. I fell for the con with my first two children. Granted, my first son had a speech delay and I was told he had a tongue tie and that snipping it would greatly improve his speech. I got the procedure done and it did not help at all. He was just a late bloomer. He did have trouble latching as an infant but never had any issues with taking a bottle. That being said, I don't feel it was a bad call to suggest this for my first however I do believe it ended up being unnecessary and didn't "fix" anything. I panicked and took my second baby in, thinking what if he has ties too and it affects his speech later on? He never had any issues with latching or feeding however I was told he had severe lip and tongue ties and to get them corrected to prevent any issues later... Naively I listened and subjected my poor baby to this. Fast forward to my third baby, I took him in for a routine check up and was told he had a lip tie. Dr Ghandi suggested we get his tongue released as we will already be in there snipping his lip. I left the appointment feeling incredibly uneasy that she suggested his tongue be released when he has zero issues. She also forced us to get multiple chiropractic appointments to even be able to schedule his procedure. I don't have an issue with the chiropractor, however I didn't understand why he needed his body worked on to get a simple procedure when he wasn't having any problems in the first place. I decided to get a second opinion at Texas Children's and they said they've seen this heavily diagnosed and that it's been completely unnecessary for so many. They told me my third child absolutely did not have a tongue tie and that his lip tie does not need to be snipped. Please please please do your research and get a second opinion!! It is a traumatic thing to do to a child or baby that doesn't need it. This office charges a high amount for this procedure when most ENT's will do it for a lot less IF it is actually needed. I do know this can help babies and children with feeding issues however the problem I have is suggesting it to naive parents just to make a buck. It is morally and ethically wrong and I pray no one else falls for this scam. read more

Dr. Gandhi was referred to us by Bayou City Breastfeeding (whom I also highly recommend) after discovering that my son had a lip and tongue tie. We had been doing body work leading up to our visit with Dr. Gandhi and felt nervous about the procedure. From the receptionist to the dental assistant, everyone made us feel at ease. The DR was able to confirm that our son did indeed have a lip and tongue tie which needed revision. The procedure was quick and although we shed tears from hearing our little one's cries, he was quickly brought to us in a very nice, private nursing room. We nursed right away and we're given instructions on how to care for him afterwards. He had some discomfort for a few days afterwards but overall seemed happier to be getting more milk. I really feel comfortable handing my son to Dr. Gandhi and her team. The results from the revision are day and night and we successfully saved our breastfeeding journey because of it. When my daughter was born, she had all the signs of having a tongue tie (long time to nurse, difficulty burping, reflux, mouth breathing, thumb sucking more than 10 years), but no one mentioned it to me until after she was 10 years old. Dr Ghandi is great but the last 2 visits, it was a bait and switch. It was scheduled with her and she was "giving a talk" so the new dentist would see us... I made my concerns known and made sure to schedule only with her. 6 months later it happened again, despite the confirmation email saying we were to see her. She's growing and has opened up a second practice and only working at the west u location certain days. The staff is also not accommodating and rude. I called as a courtesy to say I'd be 15-30 min lay at the most. They wanted to charge me a $50 late fee. So I decided to sprint over to the office. When we got to the appointment we realized it was scheduled wrong and they wouldn't take care of the necessary sealants- my daughter was (is) fearful of this procedure and had worked up the courage to do it on the visit. It's not my fault the scheduler inputted it incorrectly- this was the third attempt and had been thoroughly discussed the last visit. We are switching dentist- to one that understands you might be late and to one that is honest and sees our children. read more

They cancelled my son's procedure 2 business days prior to when it was scheduled. They called the 3 different time with different reasons why they needed to cancel ie he had Covid in the last month, he has had hand foot and mouth in the last month, he is on antibiotics and the last one is that the speech therapist wouldn't sign off on it. After many discussions they decided they no longer wanted to work with us. All this and they would not refund our consultation fee because we came and were seen and told by Dr. Gandhi that he needed to get the procedure as soon as possible. read more

I have been so impressed with Dr. Gandhi. After both my pediatrician and lactation consultant noticed a tongue tie on my infant, we headed into the office to have Dr. Gandhi confirm and address it. It was super easy to schedule an appointment online and Bailey, the receptionist, was so nice when I called to make sure my request had gone through and ask some questions. We had the consultation and the procedure immediately afterwards. I noticed a small improvement right away but it took about a week to see the full benefit. Since then I've had a much easier time nursing. They also recommend (and I second) that you have the lactation consultant come back after the procedure. I will say the exercises you have to do for the 6 weeks after are no picnic and if your kiddo is anything like mine, invest in a good set of ear plugs ;-) They don't work with insurance so you have to pay out of pocket, but Bailey went above and beyond. She filled out the insurance claim form for me so all I had to do was sign it, and provided a pre-addressed, stamped envelope. Considering how little time I have as a mom to a newborn, this was hugely helpful. (Side note: unfortunately, it turns out this procedure was not covered by my medical insurance so best to check with your individual insurance company and policy if you are hoping to be reimbursed.) read more

Brought my 2 month old in for a lip/tongue tie evaluation through a recommendation from a lactation consult. Everyone in the office is always extremely friendly and prompt when we go. My little one had the procedure done to correct the lip/tongue tie and has been doing great. I love that Dr. Gandhi is very thorough and takes time to demonstrate and explain things. We had an evaluation prior to choosing Dr. Gandhi that was with another Dentist at another facility and that dentist never showed her face, only her nurse did the explaining. If ever having any medical procedures performed the doctor/dentist or whoever is doing the procedure should be the one speaking to you directly, first. Anyway, Dr Gandhi's staff all superb in my book, from making appointments, to teaching, to billing they are on top of it. She and her staff took care of it and we were successful within days. I then took my 3 year old daughter and she fell in love with the office. This place is a total price gouging scheme. $250 Consultation and $250 CT Scan, and apparently all patients need them both as I'm standing there listening to them tell other patients the exact thing! This office takes full advantage of pediatric dentistry patients. So you wait until people show up for the appointment to give them their "estimated cost" for the visit, how lovely!! They email you and call you about appointment reminders constantly, but somehow FAILED to provide an estimated cost amount before the visit. So you surprise people with cost and then you lie and say that ortho is not covered on insurance. I've had the same insurance for two years, it's covered.... Oh wait let me also share that they FAILED to check my secondary insurance and basically told me that it has the same benefits. Lies! They wanted me to pay for the visit out of pocket instead of taking the time to verify my insurance. So let's talk about Dr Ghandi, I asked her to come out to chat with me for a second during our scheduled appointment time, and her office assistant Catherine apologized for like the fifth time and chose to lie again to say oh she's seeing patients. Our visit with Dr. Kherani today was so smooth! She was great with my 2 year old daughter, very patient, they sang Wheels on the Bus, she watched Frozen, just made her feel comfortable by showing/explaining everything! They took the time to personalize her visit with all the things I wrote she liked on her medical history form. My daughter is usually a tough one but she laid down and opened wide for her. This was the first time she actually laid down and did it all on her own. Highly recommend Dr. Kherani she explained my daughters hypoplastic spots she saw and about cavity prevention. Dr. Gandhi is incredible! Bailey at the front is so sweet and so are the rest of the staff; they were all very compassionate and made us feel right at home. Our 3 week old daughter went in for a tongue and lip tie evaluation, and they were able to perform the laser procedure for her that same day! I think we were in and out of the office in under an hour, which is pretty incredible. She's now 2 months old, and healed perfectly from the procedure! There's never a wait, and they have a welcome board for all the patients coming in that day which I think is the cutest thing for kiddos!
