As a current resident, I am a positive there will be negative backlash for my posting this review.
For what they claim it to be and what they charge every month, this property is far from "luxury style living". Honestly they provide no extraordinary amenities that set them apart from any other complex- at best subpar from the mini "indoor pool", ventilated underground parking with towing/theft problems or inoperable door that does nothing but circulate the awful stench from the dumpsters- its like paying $120/mo for a built in foul car freshener, lobby coffee machine that conveniently only operates while the office is open to the self-proclaimed, broken gas grills that don't light and when they finally do the lids get blown open (yes, I've seen it happen), the "state of the art" sound systems that probably peaked in their early 2000's that seldom ever works. Lest we forget broken light fixtures or burned out bulbs, fighting and screaming in the hall at 2am with some chick in a schmedium tube top with cigarette in hand demanding "...mf'er open the mf'ing door..." (HOW DID SHE GET INTO A SECURED BUILDING WITH CAMERAS???), horribly stained carpets, 90+ degree hallways, dog urine covered elevators (garbage cans and pillars outside the front doors) or the train they failed to mention (or discount) that starts up faithfully every morning at 4am and continues ALL throughout the day.
I have documented and kept all conversations, pictures and messages sent to the management staff. Granted when I came home one evening to my apartment smelling like marijuana because the neighbor decided to Cheech and Chong it up next door...I was advised she had been evicted. Hmmm...why did it ever have to even get that far? That's GREAT....but what about the rest of the floor...? You can come off the elevator on any given evening and be greeted with the warm hugs of the gonja.
After several complaints of the dog pee in the elevator and whiffs of weed, I took my complaints to the Regional Manager of Sherman Associates properties. She was a real peach!! Now, I've worked in customer service...I've been in situations of deflating irritated customers and situations...I've also walked that fine line of being sarcastically rude and irritated in return yet I was still able to claim I handled the situation professionally too.
To sum up that conversation, it was condescending and short. I was given excuse after excuse. From example: when addressing smoking marijuana in the building, she was quick to point out the neighbor was evicted therefore that resolved the issue. Cool. Again, what about all the other apartments that pollute the hallways? I was told, if during business hours tell the staff...after hours, call the police. Hmmm...okay. So your record can further show multiple calls to the police for "drug use"?? I'm cool with that. Or the vile amount of stains on the carpet...basically asking me if I had ever lived in an apartment building before because stains can't be helped. I'm realistic, you can't control everyone or accidents. But isn't there a cleaning crew?? She claimed they STEAM clean the carpets annually out of COURTESY to the residence and in doing so it kills the bacteria from the unknown stains. That's fine...but what about all the other puddle of dog pee, vomit, trash fluids, etc that get spilled on the carpet over the next year?? Absolutely NOTHING because those stains are still there. And to answer your question, YES, Jennifer, I have. Island Residence in Minnetonka has a cleaning staff that vacuums the halls every day and spot cleans any stain that pops up from the day before. I couldn't tell you the last time my hall was vacuumed because the same grounded up dog biscuit laid in the hall for 3 weeks...the same pistachio shells laid in the elevator for 4 days...or when kicking over the rug in the elevator, there was still pee UNDER the rug. So why don't I go back there? Probably because even though I DID tour my apartment (which don't get me wrong, besides the train, I enjoy my apartment even if the faux plastic wood floors have huge gaps in the seams that traps all the dirt when you're sweeping) and I didn't notice the stains until moving day after I stupidly signed a 15 mo lease...plus I was in need of living closer to work and led to believe this was luxury living. My desires to live somewhere that I pay for with my hard earned money, is not too much to ask- it's WHAT THEY ADVERTISE!!! Luxury. Living.
So, everything short of asking for ways out of my lease (because it'll never effing happen) it's clear their driven by quantity and NOT quality. Gotta make that money!!
Long story short...don't waste yours. read more
