First of all it was getting late and it most places close kitchen around here at 9...we were late so we had just kinda gave up and decided to just sit down for for a drink before conceding to white castle all the way in Hinckley. Randy was super nice enough to take our orders, didn't even ask- he didn't have to though which was really cool of him. He was pretty knowledgeable about the area, giving us some info about the local lakes and where the back roads lead to. Food- wings were wet which is an A+ in my book. That alone is 3 stars. He was out of bone in, but the boneless wings were big so it was a lot of food. Beers were cold, we ate good, had a great conversation, He had a cool dog. We walked out happy! Bar seating and high top as well as regular tables. The food here, in my opinion, was better than your standard small town food. The smoked wings came highly recommended but we didn't taste any smoke. They were tender and had a good moisture. The Mac sandwich had good flavor but too much bread. And the Philly had good flavor and tons of meat! But the bread couldn't hold it all and it just got messy fast. The menu here is very small, so if you are a picky eater, this may not be the spot for you. Overall, if we were in the area again, I'd come back.

I recently hosted a Bachelorette party at my cabin and brought the group of girls to the Local. The owner, Mike, did everything he could to make it a special night for us - even giving us a microphone and letting us belt our hearts out to all our favorite music we were playing on the juke box. The only bummer is they don't have a kitchen. They do have a food truck on certain nights (check their Facebook page) and also a variety of frozen pizzas. Great place!

The bartender was friendly and served us a "yellow" flavored jello shots. The price was right as the drinks do not cost much, but the place could have used a once over. They had a band the night before and they hadn't quite cleaned up after, in fact the ladies from the night before were not too "lady like" (not my words, theirs). The two stars: 1 is for the excellent popcorn. 1/2 is for being a true dive bar and the other half is for having the quarter game.
