My kids do not fear the dentist like I did when I was younger. The doctors and staff are all welcoming, warm and do a great job.

Dr. Bryan Savage and his staff are friendly and extremely thorough. Always an easy dentist visit, which is never a gimme with kids! :)

He is also very knowledgeable and informative, making sure you know what he's doing and giving both the parent and the patient opportunities to ask questions and make informed decisions. It was time to go, so I called Rocky Mountain Kids Dentist to schedule an appointment. They said that because it has been so long and they are a new practice, we are now considered new customers. For some odd reason I still felt like they are our kids' dentists - some level of loyalty. I said "Okay that's fine. By the way, how much is the new patient special for the usual exam, cleaning and x-rays?" Their rep says without hesitation, "$450 to start for each child for each visit... likely more depending on what needs to be done." Yikes! I wonder how much more they charge once they have your loyalty. I asked if they had an in-house dental savings plan as I'm self-employed and you cant buy good individually-purchased dental insurance. I was told they would have to ask and get back to me. They never called back. After being forgotten about, I decided to look elsewhere and we landed at Grin Pediatric Dentistry. Great visit that my kids loved and we gladly signed up for their dental savings plan that includes 2 exams, cleanings, x-rays per year plus a couple other "whoops" visits and some other benefits including a pretty nice welcome gift for $300 a year. They used their gentle chairside manner aided by technology to very clearly explain and demonstrate why my kids might need some additional preventative treatments and laid out the very reasonable costs very clearly. It was a very positive experience that I'll write a review about. I write about Grin in this review in hopes that Rocky Mountain Kids Dentist can use Grin's example to learn how to win and retain loyal patients. Most patients, while loyal, don't like to be taken advantage of with really off market pricing. You might want to read the proverbial room better or train your oh so critical customer facing staff a bit better before they, you know, face potential customers if that rep was simply wrong.

There's coffee for parents, toys for kids and each dental chair has it's own tv with Netflix so your child can pick their favorite movie. After being brought back to the dental chairs by a friendly assistant, with the welcome for the 'parent' to join their hesitant child, I followed dutifully. After a few minutes my son felt right at home and requested to watch, 'The Walking Dead.' There were two ladies who asked, 'are you sure?' Whatever it takes to relax, is my opinion, although hearing a request for, 'The Exorcist,' would have gotten a hands down, "NO!' My son immediately relaxed and told me to leave. Sitting in the waiting room, I watched the dentist walk out with her young patient after a procedure, and sit down with the parent to discuss everything, and very highly concerned for the child's pain issues; also complimenting bravery as well. Other parents near me were calm and confident in their child's care. As all parents must multi task these days, I was able to handle two business calls while I waited. One call required more decision making, and it was not until I was halfway through my call, that I realized talking with my hands is not polite society, nor speaking loudly. Thanks to the stares from my fellow human beings nearby, and my late mother, who's memory continues to remind me of my manners, my brain thought, 'Merci beau coup,' and I sat on my hands. Then I realized I could not communicate, because of my late father's Brooklyn upbringing, which requires hand gestures during conversation.. So in the world of compromise, I scratched my head. And hopefully nobody assumed there were creatures in my hair. This place is very popular because they are very good. Keep in mind last minute cancellation has a $100.00 cancellation fee. Enough to make everyone remember their appointment.

She looked forward to her appointments after years of building trust and familiarity and unfortunately, we have to start that process all over somewhere else in the middle of Covid. Covid has made it hard for everybody and sometimes the unexpected happens but this email is mildly heartbreaking if you're the ones on the chopping block. Just as it states, Their facility is so beautiful, the Dental team is amazing and caring, and they take the latest and greatest approach to pediatric dentistry. All of that is true and if you're not one of the Medicaid patients you'll continue to receive nothing but the very best. That commitment to treat and care for every patient as she would her own child is just going to be for non-medicaid patients. If you can afford to bring your child here then do because they are wonderful. If I could afford to pay out of pocket I would in a heartbeat. I'd have loved to keep my little one here but this email is so unfortunate. It was not written with the thought of how excluded this would make Medicaid families feel. Yes, we are a low-income family but we are every bit as deserving of the amazing care Sunrise describes in this email and will provide to non-Medicaid families. There was a much better way to word this and go about this change in general and that's what's really disappointing. I told my daughter that Dr. Crespi stopped being a dentist altogether rather than explain that she's just not going to be her dentist anymore and she was still upset. Hopefully, we'll be able to find somewhere just as wonderful for low-income families.
