The thing I never really understand about Matalan is the need for cards. Why do they have them? It used to be that you had to have a card to buy anything, but on my more recent visit, I noticed they had slackened up on that, and it's now used for more of a rewards card than store ID. This store has everything; kids, women's and men's clothes, shoes and home ware. They have a brilliant underwear section and sell branded bras at less than half price. They even have Calvin Klein boxers at £9 a pack, which is less than half price, ideal for Xmas or Birthday pressies! I used the services that M Party provides for my 21st birthday party, and had cream and pink balloons with lovely little shimmery weights and bits and bobs for decorating the hall, all for under £100, which was amazing value! You have to collect the balloons yourself but that wasn't a problem. They have table decorations, age specific decorations and buffet ware, which is all fairly priced and available in every colour imaginable! They also make up banners if you want them, although I felt they were a bit pricey. Huge store with loads of bargains! The clothes in Matalan are getting nicer by the season, and I would highly recommend it for summer holiday clothes.

I used Loxley recently for printing out the photos for Yelp's Gallery of Glasgow. I was recommended to them by a friend, and I found their customer service whenever I phoned really helpful. They have a great website and ordering system which is really easy to use. When I placed the orders, I did it through a program called Loxley ROES which is free to download, but I now see they offer online ordering which looks like it would be even simpler. Their options for delivery are really good as well - Royal Mail, courier or collection from them in Cumbernauld. I did have a slight hitch with some Royal Mail postage but that wasn't Loxley's fault. And when the first photos I ordered were too low resolution, they phoned to let me know rather than post out sub-standard photos. I'd definitely use them for all my photo printing needs in the future.

Fifteen years ago Byres Road was full of individual wee shops like this; today it's all coffee emporiums and charity outlets. I discovered Owen Bissett when doing my Christmas shopping in December. It's not the sort of place that would normally attract me, but I was looking for a nice present for my sister, and their window display looked inviting, so I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I made that decision. The place is a veritable Aladdin's Cave of jewellery, bijoux, craft wares, designer knick-knacks and generally precious things (preeeeccccciouuusssss!). I soon found a lovely bracelet and necklace combo that my sister was delighted with, and would probably have ended up spending a lot more than I wanted to had not common sense kicked in. There's such a wide range of really unusual things in here, it is ideal if you're looking for that 'special gift' or just want a thing of beauty for yourself. I think my favourite items were the glass bowl sculptures with the natural wood stands - these large thick glass works appear to have been melted and poured onto driftwood or tree-branch tripods, so that they have flowed into the perfect shape for the support. I have no idea what I would use one for (and I couldn't afford one anyway), they were just lovely pieces of craftsmanship. A definite thumbs-up for the most original and unusual shop in Hyndland Street, if not the entire West End. Check it out - you're sure to find something you like.

Regardless of price, you can be assured that whatever you buy will always be top quality. Owen's window displays are always eye-catching and well thought out; I defy you to walk past and not at least stop for a good look! Displays are changed regularly, which is a great way to showcase the wide range of what's on offer. I highly recommend liking the shop on Facebook too, as it's an extension of the window displays. The service is always fantastic, and everyone there is so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. They'll point out things you might like or will leave you to browse the stock without being over-bearing. It's customer service done correctly, and it's refreshing to behold. It's a great place to go and treat yourself or a loved one, be it Christmas, birthdays or just for the sake of it. This place is gorgeous and quite grand and the acoustics were great! There were two bar areas to get a drink or ten and they were pretty reasonable for what you got. I was quite full from dinner and drinks before the show, so I let my belly settle for a while and let my guy do the drinking. The show was great and any staff we ran in to were helpful and friendly. It looked like there was balcony seating, but since this was a standing room only gig, we were down near the stage like a bunch of super fans. I was at the Paisley Town Hall last night for my kid sisters Spring Concert. She has been playing…read morethe violin for a couple of years now and it was really nice to go and see her play. I'm not going to lie; her and the other kids were pretty awful. Thirty 12 year olds playing stringed instruments badly is a bit of an assault on your ears! My sister was playing in the main theatre of the town hall and it is a nice theatre with the usual red velveteen seats and a lovely ornate ceiling with massive chandeliers and of course there is a stage. The town hall is a popular venue for weddings and I recently got to see some of the function rooms on a tour with a friend of mine who is getting married next year. Her fiancé wasn't able to go with her so apparently my bridesmaid duties include being a surrogate husband to be! All of the function rooms are lovely with the similar beautiful coloured ceiling as the theatre and gorgeous elaborate arches over the doors and windows. One room has big French windows which lead out onto a long balcony with stunning views off the Paisley Abbey and its grounds. From the outside the town hall is a very nice looking building too and was built during Victorian times and appears to have changed little from how it would have looked then. Certain parts of the town hall are looking a little bit worn but all in all I think this is a venue definitely worth considering if your ever having some sort of function or event.
