I was wrong, it's also huge, and despite being slightly baffled as to why they would open two giant stores within a few hundred yards of each other in a space of a matter of weeks (as well as another smaller store also in Buchanan Galleries), you've got to hand it to H&M as they certainly aren't shy about making their presence felt. Inside it's the usual mix of male, female and childrens' clothing, all very cheap and all probably quite fashionable, though I wouldn't really know. I've not bought anything from here yet but as my jeans have a massive hole in the backside and need replaced urgently, H&M are difinitely in the running for my custom.

I also really like their accessories and recently bought a really cute blue flowey hairband and Hello Kitty socks. Their scarves are also really pretty with really unusual colourful designs which will always receive plenty of compliments. I'm not a great fan of their going out clothes though and they seem to use really cheap material for everything which I hate the feel of. This H&M also really annoys me because it has a rediculous layout and apart from the changing rooms there aren't any mirrors so to see what accessories look like on you have to go to the changing room with them which is just silly. There also seems to be not enough tills for the size of the shop which often causes lengthy queues resulting in me usually putting things back and leaving. I used to live in Dresden in Germany and there weren't many clothes shops. H&M was really the only affordable one, resulting in everyone walking around looking like clones designed by H&M. Not a good look.

I actually thought it was more art gallery than gift shop so was very pleased when I realised they've managed to combine the two perfectly. The shop looks great from the outside, and if that isn't enough then the window display will definitely lure you in. It's bright, it's colourful and it's all a celebration of our beautiful city (Glasgow, der) which means it gets a whopping 5 stars from me. Stephen O'Neil is a digital artist with images from across Scotland. There's cards, small prints and then framed work so no matter what your budget, you'd be able to find a great gift. In addition to his own stuff there's a great selection of designers on display - Bonny Bling in the jewellery cabinet and Grafika notebooks, for example. Topped off with a welcoming vibe and reasonable prices, I'll can see that I'll be returning here regularly!

His trademark style heavily relies on black and red - if you don't like those colours, don't waste your time coming in here. Otherwise, consider it a classic colour combination, and just go with it! When I popped in a while back, we got chatting with Stephen himself - very friendly guy, knowledgeable and in no way pushy when it came to selling his work. Pricewise, you'll find postcards, coasters and small prints from a few quid, right up to big trifectas, costing hundreds. Most items were pretty affordable. I'll definitely be back soon.

Pep & Co is a new chain clothing store which has opened all around the UK recently…read more I popped in for a brief visit so I could suss it out. First of all - it is very cheap. Most stuff seemed to be under £10 and while this store at the Avenue is kind of wee, it still has a family-sized range of stuff. I can't comment too much on it as I didn't buy anything, so I don't know if it's actually decent quality. I'd sum it up as a tidier Primark for families. I can't really see myself shopping here as they didn't really have anything in my kind of style, but maybe I'd pop in to get seasonal kids stuff for my nephews/niece and accessories.

There is no point in going in the store unless you are trying on jackets for a smooth fit, then you can go to Bank Fashion (either the store just outside the city or online) and get the same Superdry jacket for a significantly cheaper price. I got a wonderful Women's Windcheater for only £49. It's awesome. The staff at this location are friendly, but they aren't too helpful. Everyone seems to have that snooty Abercrombie & Fitch/Hollister air and extremely loud music that those stores always have. Unless you're rich or are afraid of shopping at outlet-esque stores, save your money and shop elsewhere for the same clothing line.

They take clothes there for repairs and alterations and explained that, not only is the work always of the highest standard, but probably cheaper than anywhere else. What higher recommendation could you ever need?!! Almost needless to say, I took some clothes straight down to the shop (which you'll find just round the corner from 'Subway' through the door on the left and up the stairs) and left them (along with a deposit) with a friendly lady there. A few days later I went back to pick up the clothes, which were beautifully repaired, and to pay the balance of a few pounds. Certainly cheap for such professional work and I shall definitely return when I need any more sewing done!

Sometimes they…read moredon't get every booking perfect, but they always manage to resolve the situation quickly and efficiently. Well for the booking last week there was nothing to resolve. The kilt hire was smooth and perfect, that in itself though is not the reason for the extra start. The upgrade is there as the customer service level has been taken to another level. The staff in both stores make you feel like they know you personally and remember that you are a repeat customer. (Even if they really can't remember you at all) Everything about it was first class and incredibly friendly. If you need a kilt hire then for me this is the place to go. (Or their Partick branch)

Getting dragged here upset me as it reminded me of being a kid getting dragged here by my Mum…read more 30 minutes later I realised what I always worried would happen had finally happened. I had met a girl that was just like my Mum. Regardless, there's some good stuff in here and it's quite tidy and spacious inside. Pricewise, it's somewhere between Primark and H & M. Always something in here on sale, but, as I learned, finding your size can take longer than making a cup of tea. A lot longer.

It's places like this shop that lend weight to the claim that 'Hyndland Street is the new Byres…read moreRoad'. Fifteen years ago Byres Road was full of individual wee shops like this; today it's all coffee emporiums and charity outlets. I discovered Owen Bissett when doing my Christmas shopping in December. It's not the sort of place that would normally attract me, but I was looking for a nice present for my sister, and their window display looked inviting, so I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I made that decision. The place is a veritable Aladdin's Cave of jewellery, bijoux, craft wares, designer knick-knacks and generally precious things (preeeeccccciouuusssss!). I soon found a lovely bracelet and necklace combo that my sister was delighted with, and would probably have ended up spending a lot more than I wanted to had not common sense kicked in. There's such a wide range of really unusual things in here, it is ideal if you're looking for that 'special gift' or just want a thing of beauty for yourself. I think my favourite items were the glass bowl sculptures with the natural wood stands - these large thick glass works appear to have been melted and poured onto driftwood or tree-branch tripods, so that they have flowed into the perfect shape for the support. I have no idea what I would use one for (and I couldn't afford one anyway), they were just lovely pieces of craftsmanship. A definite thumbs-up for the most original and unusual shop in Hyndland Street, if not the entire West End. Check it out - you're sure to find something you like.

I love, love, love this shop!…read more There are far too many beautiful things in stock, be it little trinkets, unique and interesting jewellery or gorgeous ornaments (and everything else in between), meaning that you'll be tempted to clear your bank account buying everything in sight! There's something here for all budgets, which is a bonus. I bought a gorgeous necklace for myself a while back that people always comment on, and it only cost £10. Regardless of price, you can be assured that whatever you buy will always be top quality. Owen's window displays are always eye-catching and well thought out; I defy you to walk past and not at least stop for a good look! Displays are changed regularly, which is a great way to showcase the wide range of what's on offer. I highly recommend liking the shop on Facebook too, as it's an extension of the window displays. The service is always fantastic, and everyone there is so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. They'll point out things you might like or will leave you to browse the stock without being over-bearing. It's customer service done correctly, and it's refreshing to behold. It's a great place to go and treat yourself or a loved one, be it Christmas, birthdays or just for the sake of it. It's a truly unique store, and it's wonderful to see such a vibrant independent business thrive. I really can't sing the praises of this shop enough!
