Corey Hoffman let me down. He promised to make a perfect slab for my metal building and failed,…read morethen left me hanging with unfinished work. He bid for work to start in 2 weeks, and it took 3 months for a start, when he could have progressed, as I had to form stoops he promised me from his first slab job and never delivered on. During his sales pitch, he raised his bid, saying the forms I built were not good enough and he'd have to form from scratch. then he used them anyway, saying they were not so far off. His crew moved 2 form walls mostly at the top, putting a steep slant on the footer walls. He had promised to drill the anchor bolt holes for the metal building base flanges, but once he had my final payment, he disappeared. He walked off the jobsite like a child, saying he "did not want his name on the project." They left a mess of waste concrete and form wood on the site, and no backfill help. He may finish a fairly smooth surface, but his slab measurements are to loose-tape standards, and they are not square slabs. I laid-out the steel building bases, which are the perfect test. The perimeter edge is wavy and he needed to have it sawn. My slab was so short, some of the anchor bolts busted out at the bottom or are so close to the edge they are not drillable. I will have to add concrete to fix his mistakes. His last words to me as he walked off without answering me was to take his name off my phone. I should have learned from the first slab he poured for me, when his crew wrecked my in-slab plumbing traps, costing me time and money; that also turned-out to be a non-square slab. He does not deserve your trust.

Concrete Masters - Unprofessional and disrespectful communication.

    Concrete Masters

If I could leave zero stars, I would. Concrete Masters, run by Alex Alger, is an unlicensed company…read moretaking advantage of unknowing families in Bay County, FL. We hired Alex to pour a patio in our back yard, and he requested to be paid 1/2 up front, which we did. It took weeks for him to show up to actually start the job. And when they did, they completely destroyed our front and back lawn. Without speaking with us first, they "claim" the pump truck company was a no-show, and made the executive decision to drive a concrete truck through our lawn the day after a storm passed through Panama City. It should be no surprise, then, that the truck got stuck in our saturated Florida lawn resulting in a completely demolished our yard. To make matters worse, what they poured on that first day only covered about 1/5 of the patio. I may not know the science of pouring concrete, but I know that you SHOULD NOT end your pour with jig-jagged joints. (Essentially, when winter rolls around, the concrete will crack). However, they did, and assured us that they would 1) fix our lawn (which they have not), and 2) demolish the failed 1st pour and repour (which they did not). Astonishingly, Concrete Masters had the audacity to ask for $500 more to cover the cost of hand-mixed concrete (which was not what we had paid for). Wishing for the best, we obliged, bringing our total paid to Concrete Masters at this point to more than $3,800. He later showed up and--instead of demolishing the failed first pour and repouring, as was verbally discussed--added onto the jig-jagged first pour. The result? A two-toned, two-textured, unleveled half-poured patio. When it rained shortly after their second attempt, we noticed that the rain water was rushing toward our home and into our existing small patio. When the rain subsided, my husband took a level out to the slab poured by Concrete Masters and realized that not only was the slab not level, but it was sloping TOWARD our home, in turn threatening the integrity of our home's foundation. At this point we had Alex come to our home so we could discuss the damage and, via a contract, receive some assurance that 1) the failed pour would be removed, 2) a leveled patio sloping 1" away from the home (as was originally discussed) would be re-poured, and 3) our lawn would be fixed. Alex indicated that two weeks from the contract he would return, after finishing another job, to fix our patio. My husband had to initiate all communication, and when Alex did reply, he was incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional. In our last communication with him after he broke contract, he replied via text "Http/errors14444368731nonewrkingnumber," complete with the spelling errors. We have since filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, have hired another company to demolish and pour a new patio (Absolute Top Concrete & Masonry was EXCELLENT) which ended up costing an extra $1,500 simply for demolishing/disposing of Concrete Master's mess, and are trying to spread the word so that others do not have to endure the heartache, stress, and financial strain Concrete Masters has put us through. At all costs, avoid Concrete Masters and Alex Alger!!
