Once you sign the contract, that turns out to be a lie. I called to postpone my class, and when I asked for an appointment the next week, they told me my membership had ended--no more classes. So I paid $100 and received nothing just because I couldn't attend two class. This feels like a deliberate scam.

OTF Somerled has literally changed my life!…read more Since the pandemic, I had really let myself go. I was depressed, unmotivated, had zero drive and absolutely no desire to get out of bed to do much of anything. That went on for 3 years!!! I was dreading exposing myself to the world of fitness in the state I was in but knew I needed to get my active life back on track. I have been to so many different fitness centres (the Y, Energy Cardio, Fitness One, MAAA, Nautilus +) and had done countless bootcamp sessions and CrossFit, none of which even compare to what I was about to experience with OTF. Getting back into shape, meant that I would be disappointed with how much my body had changed over the years. I knew I'd need more than just a physical workout. I'd need support, encouragement, advice, structure, and positive reinforcements. Then my sister introduced me to Orange Theory. She said it was exactly what I needed to get my groove back. BOY WAS SHE RIGHT!!! Not only are you encouraged to go at your own pace, but you're also made aware of your progress and the work you are putting in during and after your workouts. It keeps you motivated and on track. The only commitment you are making is to yourself. OTF has a pay per month plan, meaning there are no annual contracts locking you in, and adding unnecessary pressure. So you don't have to worry about biting off more than you can chew. Which helps you set smaller and more reachable goal. If you sign up for a minimum of 3 sessions a week, you also get a FREE heart monitor, tracking your every move, heart beat, and calorie burned. And if you thought that was good, I've got more news. OTF is WORLD WIDE, with multiple fitness centres in every major city. They also have an app compatible with iPhones and Androids, keeping you up-to-date on stats, allowing you to book your sessions directly from your home, and providing you with workout videos you can do from anywhere at any time. And did I mention the 1st SESSION IS FREE? So, if you're looking to make a positive change in your life, and need that extra push from encouraging coaches and a supportive community, OTF Somerled is for you! I promise you won't be disappointed. You think I'm kidding? Just read the reviews. P.S HiiT is highly addictive. Expect to get hooked!

A few months after February 2020, they offered 6 months for free as long as you continued your membership. To this day, if it wasn't for my cancellation, they would still be charging me monthly while it still being closed. I totally understand it's an pandemic and I agree 100% that gyms should be closed and that it's not the gym's fault for closing, but to be charging during closing is unacceptable. I contacted customer service and they couldn't give me much explanation. Anyway, they keep charging monthly, and they keep sending newsletters saying they will be giving free months? How? Where? Free months, while charging monthly fees? I think what they should have done was stop the monthly fees and then restart 6 months AFTER they reopen. That sounds much better! They tried to make me an offer, but unfortunately I was unable to get a refund or any compensation for the loss. Before the pandemic, there was this rude staff (F), I believe she was Asian. It was slightly raining and when I walked in she said "GO REMOVE YOUR SHOES", and I... not knowing the rules... "Why really?". She got super pissed at me and said "COULD YOU NOT SEE THE SIGN". I was so disappointed by the way she reacted. Untrained, rude staff are the things that ruins customer experience! Would not come again! Would not recommend to anyone, unless you have a tight budget and don't want to spend a lot on a membership! I cancelled my subscription and I will never come again!

-I should note that I'm not an elite level athlete nor someone looking for an elite gym.-…read more In my opinion, a gym's a gym's a gym. I find their weight room can get really busy, which is unfortunate, while the cardio room offered lots of machines to choose from. They do seem very community oriented and the facilities are encouraging/motivating, which is half the battle. The equipment I used was in good shape. Their prices are steep, but I'm looking at a promo rate at the moment which is competitive for what they offer, which is impressive. As far as facilities go: -cardio room w/ exercise mats, -basketball gym, -swimming pool, -weight room, -sauna, -change rooms w/ lockers without locks and showers -a locked space for your wallet/keys -lots of community events and exercise classes -cafe and store I've probably been a handful of times now. This past week-end was my first time back in a year and they offered me a free five times to test out the facilities, which I'll likely not use because Ill be signing up for their current promotion, which is a great deal but expires on Mar. 31.

I don't know the necessary criteria for rating gyms so I will use four criteria. 1. cleanliness 2. facilities 3. ambience 4. Staff. 1 - Cleanliness - For an older facility there is the wear and tear you would expect, older floors, and the outside looks very dated. I personally enjoy the flaws and the character. The showers are very clean, the locker rooms have floor mats, and you can tell the staff takes real pride in this place. 2 - Facilities - This place is not the biggest, however they do have everything you would need. A cardio room with enough machines there is barely ever a wait, a large weight room with free weights and machines to satisfy ever muscle you can think of. There is a 3 lane 16 meter pool (don't quote me on the length), the change area for the pool also clean. 2 Saunas and extra showers as well. There's a full basketball court that doubles for badminton (cool thing there is a CD player for the stereo to play jams while shooting hoops). 3 - Ambiance - For me this was very important. As a chubby dude most gyms are intimidating. Everything Is white, silver, with bright lights. The people are usually more competitive than friendly. This place is the exact opposite, warm wood staircases, nice older lighting, friendly people (while signing up 3 non staffers said hello). 4 - Staff - The staff is excellent, not just friendly and helpful, but you can tell they truly love what they do. John helped me with the sign up and was an absolute star, joke cracking, friendly, and down to earth. He was especially proud of the sign he had built and hung over the entry way, the sign reads "Here there are no strangers, only friends we haven't met yet" and he was very proud of it, and swore by it. It was great. Overall this place is great, it's not for people who want to work out with headphones on and spend the time looking at themselves in the mirror. This place is perfect for people who want to be proactive in a community and enjoy their surroundings while having fun.
