The West Belfast Partnership board is a community organisation which gets involved in all manner of issues and events to try and assist local regeneration. They're a good bunch of people who perform various functions, including lobbying businesses, politicians, and even government departments. This could be for anything from addressing a lack of facilities in a particular area, to trying to stimulate employment locally.
The group includes local representatives, politicians, and local business owners. Not to take away from the excellent work the volunteers do but, for me, it's the local business owners who attend the WBPB meetings who don't get enough credit or acknowledgement - not that that would be a concern to them. The local business owners have been the support for many local initiatives including, for example, their financial contribution to things like buying and erecting Christmas trees in prominent public places in late-November. Two of them might pay for a tree, one might pay for the concrete foundation, another might pay for the lights, another will supply selection boxes for the kids at the switch-on... you get the idea.
It's an excellent resource for local people who need advice or direction on certain issues, and it has proved beneficial for businesses who are seeking to expand or set up in the locality. read more
