Well, it does go to charity, that should be five stars, but as a clothing shopping outlet, I am…read morerating it only three. It is hard to place my finger on what it is exactly but it really is hit or miss as someone else reviewing this place reported accurately. Clothing stores, even op shops, need to think of the customers in mind to some degree and the cramped venue and over crowded stock in this Red Cross store are just not very inviting. It has a great location, in the heart of Mt Eden Village, next door to Thai Eden, and has great potential in my opinion. Actually, I had almost forgotten about this but many years ago my mum and one of my sisters worked for a Red Cross Op Shop, in Australia, and I would go in occasionally and hang out browsing at all the clothing. They were lucky in the sense that the venue was spacious, but I do recall they would change the displays regularly and make sure everything for sale was well presented and clean. If I worked here (actually I think I recall a sign in the front window desperately needing volunteers) I would revamp the lay out a bit. Get rid of a vast amount of not-so-decent gear for super cheap, and try to draw the customers in with a bit more bedazzle - eg. window dressing can be an art if planned out nicely, and small spaces don't need to be an obstacle.

This place can be hit and miss and while a bit squished, it does have a dedicated Vintage rack if…read moreretro frocks and the like are your thing. It kind of makes me laugh though because the definition of vintage is a highly subjective thing. Anyway, I found myself in here over the school holidays with kids in tow. My kids are not big on shopping but I have clearly passed on the joy of the fossick as the more crowded, messy and junky a shop looks, the more they want to go in. Yay! The changing room can be a bit tricky, what with the light in your face and the fact you are just standing in the corner of the room with a curtain around you but all good, that doesn't deter me. Both my kids purchased something for $5 and I heard them chatting excitedly while I was trying on clothes which was just so darn cute I had to lend them both the $5. I bought two dresses, one which I knocked down the price because of a tear, and a bangle. Result!

The payments have generally been smooth and communication professional. It always seems quite busy, whatever the season, with various groups occupying the many rooms available, so if you want to set up a meditation or yoga course you might want to double check that karate or zumba are not also taking place that same night right next door! They also hold a farmers market at the centre on Sunday mornings that is worth supporting.

The first time I went to the community centre was for a youth talent show. The room was perfect as it accommodated the number of attendees. The kitchen was always clean and located inside the hall we where using. This made it easier at snack time as it was just a matter of taking items from the kitchen to the table we had set up buffet style outside the kitchen. The rooms are also built in a way that makes it flexible to arrange the room the way that suits you and your event. Although there is parking on site, it is limited. Luckily there are plenty of off street parking spaces.
