This bakery is just a very good example of a German bakery - an almost mindboggling variety of…read moredifferent breads, mostly dark, whole wheat or rye breads, but these days French baguettes and Italian ciabattas are almost standard even in rural areas. The range of goods comprises also rolls and brezels, with seeds or without, and wonderful cakes -- mind you: yeast and nut cakes rather than fancy cream cakes, tarts and tartlets. How anyone can work here and not grow enormously fat (yet happy) is beyond me!
What makes this bakery stand out, though, is the friendly way of baker Karl-Heinz Carra and his wife Usch, always trying to give the best service, whether it is here in the heart of this "baking empire" or in one of the branches in the area, in the cart that sells in different villages that don't have a bakery of their own anymore, or when catering for a party or an event.
