It had plenty of wear from everyday use, and had been significantly damaged during my most recent move. His work was SUPERB. Yes, it was very expensive. Yes, it took months to be finished. Ken was up-front about the time and cost involved. I knew going in that this wasn't going to be fast or cheap, but given the value and beauty of the furniture, it was worth it. He quoted me a price, took a 50% deposit, and there were no surprises along the way. He collected the furniture in August; it was promised by Christmas; I got it back in time for Thanksgiving. When Ken and his son delivered my furniture, his work exceeded my expectations. My bedroom set looks every bit as good, if not better, than it did when it was brand new. When they delivered, they even helped me move some of the heavy furniture around in my new house, which they certainly didn't have to do, but was very much appreciated. I am absolutely delighted with the work. I didn't expect to get perfect furniture back, given the age and the extent of some of the damage. All the scratches are gone, and the places where wood had been chipped and splintered during the move are invisible. If you have cheapie furniture that needs a quickie repair, it's probably not worth your time and money to hire Ken to do it. If you have fine furniture that is irreplaceable, he's well worth your patience and cash.

Central Coast Polishing & Restoration - The epoxy is coming up and is sharp!

    Central Coast Polishing & Restoration

Making Up For Lost Time…read more.... My wife and I bought a lot in a growing development in 2017 and went through the process of choosing options and watching empty space become a house. It was fun and we did a good job in most ways, but in a few instances we turned out to be "penny wise and pound foolish". One of those examples was the 2 car garage. It came with a concrete slab, but we could have elected to get an epoxy coating. The slab looked fine for a year, but disadvantages became hard to ignore. Finally, after seeing a new epoxy floor at a friend's garage, we decided to take the plunge after 7 1/2 years. Based on Yelp reviews, we chose Central Coast Polishing and Restoration. Stars: - Overall: 5 - The Start: 5 - Explanations: 5 - Scheduling: 5 - Workmanship: 5 - Communication: 5 - Cleanliness: 5 - Cost: 4 - The Start: I called and spoke with James the owner who came out the next day to look things over. - Explanations: James assessed our situation...explained his process and set expectations. He was thorough - not pushy - and showed us a variety of epoxy colors and textures. The regular cost for a garage our size was $4,000...but since it was the offseason we got it for $3,650. - Scheduling: Easy. James and his crew usually need 3 consecutive days (preferably rain free) for the job. Fortunately we were in the midst of a multi-week dry spell in early December so we picked Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of the following week. - Workmanship: Excellent. Early Tuesday morning, the 2 man crew introduced themselves and spent roughly 4 hours grinding and polishing the concrete. They took 2-3 hours on Wednesday to prepare and condition the floor. Thursday was a 2 step process. A few hours in the morning to put down the new epoxy covering and a few in the afternoon to apply a sealer. Since the epoxy needed time to "cure", they recommended leaving our cars outside until Sunday, but said we could move boxes back in on Friday or Saturday. We waited until Sunday for everything. - Communication: Very good. James stayed in touch and the 2 man crew always let us know when they arrived, when they left and patiently answered our questions. - Cleanliness: As good as can be expected. Aside from the smell, you couldn't tell it was a construction site. - Cost: Reasonable. The epoxy coating in our friend's garage cost $2,800...but it's a bit smaller. All in all it was a very good experience and we'd recommend contacting James for similar needs. NOTE: One small caution. A piece of their equipment left a small gas or oil stain on the driveway. When I mentioned it to James in a text, he said "use a degreaser or dish soap. It should dilute enough and fade. Sorry about that. It's hard to control every little detail at times". I would have sent somebody back to handle it myself.
