The grounds are beautiful, I saw hares, deer, geese. An apple orchard and a spa by the lake. The…read moremain building serves as the dining hall for dinner and breakfast. Breakfast was good. Dinner was a little expensive, but my Cornish hen and strawberry compote were great. The beds could have been a little more soft for me. No mini fridge in room. But WiFi worked well, nice shower and toiletries. Very quiet. There is no air conditioning, I don't think, but wasn't problem in May. Really beautiful place.

Spent a weekend at Krusenbergs Herrgård with a good opportunity to experience not only the food and…read morewine, but also the surroundings, accommodations, facilities, and the wonderful scenery. In many ways it is a standard "conference" feel to the place when one is there for such an occasion as I was, but there's definitely more to this place than initially meets the eye. The coffee breaks are on the lavish side with no stops of selected assortments. The lunches were always a two-course meal, entree and main. The entrees were soup of the day with the best soup definitely won by the mushroom dito together with sour-dough bread and butter-sauted chanterelles. For one lunch main they served a minced moose-beef served with thyme-roasted baby veggies which was really delicious. The other main lunch was however a big disappointment; a white meat fish served on the bone but really dry with plain boiled potatoes, green peas and white wine sauce lacking in both flavour and depth. Not tasty by any means. The big conference dinner left me slightly biased. It had highs paired with lows. The entree was a delight for all senses; foie gras with two different cuts of charcuteries and other small assortments, paired with a wonderful white wine from Austria. This was followed by that evenings bit let-down, a fillet of cod that again was dry with no exciting additions. Mashed potatoes and a couple of vegetables can only go so far. To me there was no innovation on the plate, and flavours much too bland for my taste. The dessert was a step in the right direction, cloudberry soufflé with a lemon cream, crispy cranberry crumble and small chocolate assortments. The dessert wine unfortunately has slipped my mind, but it was a pleasant experience to a well thought-out dessert. However, what made the absolute largest and lasting impression on me was neither the place itself, the food or the wine. It was actually a small glass with only 2 cl of pure liquid gold. Well, ok, not gold, but this whiskey surely could have been. Expensive yes, but worth every penny. It was a Carsebridge 30 YO, a lowland whiskey with so much flavour and depth that I needed several minutes in between sips for all my senses to recover. If I sipped on it faster than that, I only got the taste of strong spirits. It was extraordinary and sublime, and hands down the best memory of the weekend. And just this one thing made the entire experience worth it, even though the food dissapointed me slightly.
