Literally none of the workers had on gloves. Hair down, no words exchanged at the window. The total of our meal was never mentioned, never gave us a receipt, and to make matters worse; my wife wanted a potato. We were told "no potatoes are ready". Okay, so get them ready that's how a fast food restaurant works?? We were also told that we could not upsize our drinks to medium only to "value" size. ADDITIONALLY, we specifically asked for ranch. SUMMARY. I frequent this Wendy's because I play beer league hockey, and I'm often looking for a place to grab a bite around midnight (this is the only place I know around me still open then). Only downside is that because it's the only place open, the drive-thru is always mobbed, and the staff is incredibly slow-moving. Expect at least a 20- to 30-minute wait time late-night. LOCATION. The location is perfect (at least for me), located on West End right across from Centennial Park adjacent the Vanderbilt football stadium. It's only a mile or so down West End off the 440 exit. QUALITY. The quality is what you would expect from any Wendy's. No better, no worse. SERVICE. The service is awful. Granted, being the only game in town at that hour, I understand there is a long line. Still, the time it takes to prepare and deliver a single meal is untenable. Even for me, who is always coming here solo, the wait time at the actual window is often 3-5 minutes (or more), which is outlandish. Multiply that by a line of 10 cars, and it starts to make sense. Further, the staff makes no effort to hustle or even pretend to acknowledge the line. They have one speed only: very slow. VALUE. The value is good, but no better than any other Wendy's I've been to. I get a meal with a burger, fries, and drink for around $10. I believe this to be par for the course. TAKEAWAYS. The 3 stars are for the fact that they are open until 1am every night when nowhere else is (not even McDonald's). That goes a long way. Still, the long lines and poor service make it difficult to give anything over 3 stars. Cookout is another option I am seriously considering, even though it's a couple miles farther from my house. I found it odd that at noon, this Wendy's was empty. This is primetime lunch time. I should've listened to my gut. But I just landed and was really hungry. When I walked out of my hotel room, lo and behold, my go to fast food burger spot. The cashier was pleasant. Took my order. Was patient with me as I didn't undestand her clearly. She even asked what style of sauce I wanted for my nuggets. It's the little things folks! I go to the condiment counter and attempt to get ketchup. I go to the first ketchup container only to discover it's just like this franchise at lunchtime; empty. I proceed to the next ketchup dispenser. I push and feel resistance. As I push down, the ketchup bursts all over me. What I didn't realize was that there was about a half inch of dried ketchup causing blockage in the nozzle. This is not same day, a couple of hours, dry. This is health department violation type nasty. Although frustrated, I calmly went to the counter to inform the staff of what rhe need to clean up the condiment area and to request packaged ketchup. I have ketchup all over my Ralph Lauren Polo gifted to me by my son. Oh what an imposition it was for me to have my only outer garment I brought on this business trip ruined by a faulty device and obvious lack of maintenace. Someone was upset to the point of using profanity. Another man with a black shirt made a comment that could be taken as a threat. He said something to the effect; "He's saying the wrong thing to the wrong person." I am here on business. I did not want this issue to escalate nor did I want any additional confrontation. I grabbed my food and went to eat my meal. I dropped my soda. Three employees witnessed this and not one offered any assistance. As frustrated as I was, I did the decent thing and cleaned it up with napkins. I was watched by staff and laughed at. The man in the black shirt came out a few minutes later. He shouts at me from the condiment counter, " What do you want, to get it dry cleaned or something?" I told him, we need to figure something out as I continued to take photos of the damage done to my outer garment. He opened the empty ketchup dispenser and left the lid off. He never filled it. He then wiped the nozzle on the defective one. I began to eat my lunch. When I completely finished my meal and was packing up to leave, I was aggressively approached by a man in a blue shirt named "Fernando". He barks at me; "Do you have an issue?" I didn't appreciate his demeanor. I explained what happened as I collected and tossed out my trash. I pointed to the video camera and told him he should be able to see the entire incident. As I was exiting the store, he asked me when am I coming back. I scoffed at him and stated I am only here for 3 days on business and am pretty sure I won't be coming back. He then said he would like to buy me my next meal. This store is the perfect location to use for training purposes. There is much room for improvement. And unfortunately, the fries were soggy and burnt at the same time. Go figure. read more

We sat in the Wendy's drive through for near 45 minutes waiting for one meal. There were four cars in front of us, which is not many. It's no surprise this establishment is open until 2am considering it took 45 minutes for a single meal. This would be a great place for a fast food restaurant! Also their Frosty machine was broken. They were advertising their new peppermint frosty and I assumed they would have what they were advertising for sale. I placed an order through door dash around 11 because I am sick and was just wanting something quick. The dashed arrived on time and I noticed the time kept getting pushed back so I contacted him and he mentioned they told him to leave the drive through and wait for someone by the door. He waited at the door for over 20 mins and nobody assisted him. I recommended him to go back to the drive through and shortly after my order was cancelled due to "the store not having the items I ordered". Wendy's on West End is a great location. There's plenty of parking and dining space as well. I was able to be in and out within half an hour, as service was that quick! The staff was ridiculously helpful, kind, considerate, and hardworking--I was blown away. Working in fast food can be a grueling job, as staff members are often underpaid and overworked. The staff that were working had smiles on their face and were very friendly. I felt happy just placing my order and talking to the cashier (an older gentleman). There was a young woman that was keeping the dining area absolutely spotless. She was sweeping and wiping and sanitizing, it was extremely appreciated. I know it's "just" fast food but it didn't feel like it. I received some of the best customer service at this restaurant! I hope that these workers are being well compensated for working so hard and doing such a great job!! read more

Like others have said - if I could give negative stars I would. I work at Vandy and there are limited options within walking distance from my office. So, Wendy's is one of my go to places. At first? It was fine, normal fast food but lately? MY GOD! The ladies working there seem like they would rather spit in your face than take your order. The drink machines don't work, they never have ketchup or bbq sauce and the food is always cold and stale which seems impossible considering how busy they are because of the central location. Whoever owns this place needs to step up. This is a super central place, right across from Centennial and Vandy and it probably brings in a ton of revenue but Christ, I felt like the woman was going to throw my food in my face for daring to come in and order. Hell, I normally get a kids meal and small chili but she seemed so pissed off and all the other ladies making the food were cussing and throwing stuff around, so I simplified my order as to make less fuss. Nope, still rude as hell to me. Fast food is no fun, I get it but I have been to PLENTY of places where the employees weren't so hostile. The drive thru is a tad better. Another toughie is the location, as it can be a major pain the arse to exit the parking lot with the awkward one-way and sometimes horrid West End traffic. To say this Wendy's has perfected the art of the lunch rush would be an understatement! Their proximity to Vanderbilt makes them a prime location for people on the go to stop for a Burger. They almost never have a line longer than 3 cars during the busy part of the afternoon. Often times they are actually handing the food out to you as you pull up. Highly recommended if you are on the go. But be careful and check those lids on your Soda, they do have a tendency to pop off. Also, make sure they gave you a straw. They tend to forget. read more
