Booking my initial visit went smoothly and a couple of weeks later I arrived for my appointment. I have seen a few psychiatrists over the years but I never could find one that I felt really listened, I always felt as if they just wanted to shove prescriptions at me and rush me out. Dr. Sapp is very different. He actually listened and we spoke at length about all of my concerns, going well over my hour without charging me anything extra. He took the time to make a human connection and I left his office feeling hopeful for the first time in years. I would highly recommend Dr. Sapp to anyone.

I am impulsive by nature, so now when I start to get angry I imagine myself with Suzana, telling me to calm down and that it's not worth it to get angry. I went through a difficult divorce and had to live with my ex-husband for a year while the process was going on. The stress at home was more than intense and sometimes I was really desperate. I could send a message to Suzana and she would find me a time for an emergency session and calm me down. She is a remarkable person, professional but also with a lot of compassion. With time you don't see it as a therapy anymore but more like the phone call you look forward to like a spa day (I say spa because Suzana will tell you it's not a spa and sometimes she has to tell you the things you don't like to hear in order to move forward). I scheduled a general appointment to determine if this would be a good transition after 20 yrs…read more with my PCP who is 50 miles one way to a much closer location in Scottsdale. The Dr is largely based out of Nevada, visiting the AZ location one a month as I understand it while Lisa Lolyd, NP runs day to day operations here in AZ. While at my visit and believing this might be a good fit, I mentioned tingling in my fingers and thumb. Lisa right away jumped on that and said she could make an order for a neck and spine x-ray at SMIL, which is SW Imaging I later learned. Lisa sent me the order she made, no location, no phone number to call to set up an appointment, just the order. I emailed her twice to find out the location and also a voice mail. Her MA (medical assistant) was suppose to email me a phone number, I received something automated 2 days later stating where I would get my x-rays on my neck spine and who to call. I called and on Friday 7/31 I had x-rays completed. Monday 8/3 i emailed Lisa regarding the x-ray on the SW Imaging portal. Lisa responded, radiologist has not viewed yet. Left a voice mail after that to see what our next move would be..........crickets. 2 days later tried to call, no answer, week later no answer, left a VM, nothing. I then called Medicare and BC/BS, both had been billed and paid however no follow up with the patient, me. Nothing! I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. I have heart disease and asked Lisa Loyld NP where to send my medical records. Her response, we don't need them we can go off your verbal testimony (2 heart attacks and stents). I about feel out of my chair. The quality of care here is horrible and that is being nice. Don't answer their phone, no follow up, however we want the money! Sure didn't miss the billing of the insurances. All about the money, stay as far away from this place as possible. If you go, you deserve what you get. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I believe deeply in the power of EMDR and DBT. My experience of Pathways was a business setup for…read morethe business owner. They did not accept insurance, were on the EXPENSIVE side, & required cancellation 48-hours prior to your appointment. The business frequently offered incentives to boost their ratings. My experience of EMDR was sitting with bilateral stimulation while Stephanie read a magazine or scrolled on her phone. Very little checking in, or guidance. Being my first experience and in comparison to more the traditional approaches I have since experienced with greater focus on the client and more frequently checking in, I found this method largely unhelpful. My experience of the DBT classes was Haley reading PowerPoint slides to a group that dwindled down to a few participants and still next to no engagement. Reading one part of our worksheet homework was our only engagement. I found a DBT bundle through Etsy to be a better investment. I also worked with Chloe and Allison. My experience of family counseling with Chloe was most frustrating when after hearing the little snippets shared in a short counseling session she shared her judgments of what was going on, applied surprisingly little DBT skills and did next to nothing to establish safe communication between me and my family member. I felt more like I hired a judge and jury than a counselor. Her judgments, whether supporting 'my side' or not, were not accurate or helpful and did little to help us communicate or regulate. A reasonable person would have an increased emotional response to the family counseling we received with Chloe. My preferred counselor to work with at Pathways was Allison by far. She has a caring demeanor and applied more skills than the others. Our time was cut short and damage was done before we began with her but she was the most helpful out of our experiences at Pathways. I was extremely fortunate to work with an amazing out-of-state coach who brought so much clarity to our situation and provided effective support in truly starting the ball rolling for gaining a greater understanding of DBT and bringing lasting change to our challenging family dynamic. I regret turning to Pathways for family counseling. Overall our time spent at Pathways made things worse. Furthermore, when I reached out between sessions, I never heard back. When I expressed my frustration over the lack of communication, I never heard back. Stephanie, nor any of the other counselors I worked with, have ever reached out after leaving several messages using the method I was directed to use by their office staff, but she can respond to reviews. I hope you find the quality support you deserve. For me, it was not at Pathways.
