I understand how important small businesses are to our community and generally try to support them whenever possible. Unfortunately, my experience at this establishment was very disappointing. During my visit, I spent approximately $45 and was made to feel as though I was being treated with suspicion, despite giving no reason for concern. The way I was looked at and spoken to left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. In addition, I was troubled by the way the owner appeared to interact with both customers and employees. Professionalism, respect, and good customer service are essential in any business, and unfortunately, that was not the experience I had. I hope this feedback is taken constructively so that future customers and employees are treated with the courtesy and respect they deserve.

The moment you walk in, you can tell this isn't some big chain pretending to be local--this is the kind of spot that actually is local. Fresh produce that looks like it came straight off the farm, a great selection of meats, and plenty of those little extras you didn't know you needed until you saw them. What I really appreciate is the quality. Everything I've picked up here--from the vegetables to the cuts of meat--has been fresh, flavorful, and worth every penny. You can taste the difference. And here's a bonus I didn't expect--I can actually find items here for making Indonesian meals. That's not something you see everywhere, and it's a big win in my book. The staff are friendly, helpful, and make you feel like a regular even if it's your first visit. That kind of service goes a long way. It's the kind of place you swing by once... and then suddenly it's part of your weekly routine.

The thing is, this is the end of their business week so the selection of produce varies from week to week. You never know what you'll find. I love going and perusing the available products. The vibe is really cool, too. It kinda feels like a 1970's farm stand. And the team working (while always very busy) are friendly and helpful. If everything had been Farmstand Legendary Good, the price wouldn't have been so painful. She also assured me the honey was from Baldwin County. Nope. The small print on the label reads Grand Bay. And as a local, I know that's across the Bay in Mobile County. Shame on you for selling such dreck. I knew something might be wrong when she ungently dumped the peaches and berries into plastic grocery bags to recycle the green paperboard containers for the umpteenth time. Since the stores I usually shop at didn't have jicama this week I thought I'd go to Bailey's and pick some up. Wouldn't you know it? They didn't have any jicama! I asked and the workers looked in the walk in refrigerator for me, but unfortunately they were out. They do normally carry it, though. This place offers so many varieties of produce, it's hard to complain. It's kind of a fun environment, feels kind of like a farm stand, but they offer lots of canned and baked goods, too. Additionally, they are a nursery. I didn't look at the plant selection, but I can only imagine it must be great based upon the items offered in the store. Prices are on the higher side, and there are products that either aren't marked, or in some cases posted prices are incorrect. I like the vibe and the variety so I'm sure I'll be back.
