The rich history of the library was captivating, and the stunning architecture of the buildings was not to miss. Natasha, our tour guide, was an absolute gem! She guided us through the majestic halls and took us behind the scenes, explaining the lavish history along the way, always with a warm smile. Her enthusiasm for the library was palpable, and her extensive knowledge made the tour even more fascinating. One of the highlights was seeing the Duke Humfrey's library. Such a beautiful and historic building with crests of the University of Oxford covering the ceiling, and Kings, Queens, and Bishops along the aisles. The Radcliffe Camera and The Divinity Schools were not to miss as well. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Oxford.

They saved my bacon by actually having a copy of the book .You almost feel like you are stepping back in time when you go in .The staff ( mainly retired folk when I went) were lovely, happy to chat and have a laugh. You won't get the choice you can expect from nearby Amersham as there are few books here but nevertheless it is a community resource which should not be allowed to disappear.I should imagine it is also a great social meeting point for the village.

With extra funding from both organisations, around £1.8million will be spent on improving the library. Building work has already begun on the third floor of the library, which means that there is no public access to this floor during the day, so the multifaith room is not available for use. Work begins on the second floor of the library on 17th November, then the whole library will be closed from 25th December 2008 to 20th April 2009, to allow work to be done on the first and ground floors.

If we reserve some books in a few days they will be available. There is a self scaning machine so we can do it if there is a rush on the counter it works neatly. Professional and helpful staff They put the little books author wise. There is wide selection of DVDs and CDs to borrow . There is also internet facility available on first floor for adults and even in kids section. Even photocopier is available in library which is easy to operate of our own. Recently they have a big plan of refurbishmentlasting about 6 months.hope it will be a new BETTER library. Cons There are no public toilets in the library.

It is nice and quiet plus they have some computers there, so it's an excellent place to work or study and you can pop to the Morrison's for some lunch. The staff are nice and friendly too. They have a photocopier there and they can reserve and order in books (for a small fee). It also a nice place to take your children and get them into reading.

We would sit in there practically for hours on end reading books, we practically begged our mum to go down there with us so she could let us join the library, she eventually agreed. We would usually get the maximum amount of books out that we were allowed and weirdly enough read them all before the week was up. They have a little table where we would occasionally sit and do our home work. You could loan books, magazines, baby toys and video tapes (probably DVD's now as well). I remember the staff always being really friendly.

We enjoyed roaming the floors during an unexpected rain shower, and enjoyed all the historical tomes exhibited here. We did not sign up for cards, and therefor did not get to explore the rooms or stacks, but we did enjoy our walk around. During college (as a history major), it was frequently joked that you haven't really researched in a library if you haven't wound up making out in the stacks... well, after a day of research, I enjoyed some fun pictures and 'making out' with my husband, making this a thoroughly educational stop in our London adventure.

If you plan on seeing any of the actual exhibits or checking out the areas that actually house the books, you'll need to sign up for one of their cards. The use of their computers for an hour to book. They also have free wifi. Photocopiers and a fax machine. A single wide table for studying. Also leaflets on what to your local area and surrounding area. This library is actually a quiet one compared to some; which I like. I'll definitely return because my favourite coffee shop is not far. I only live around the corner from this Camden library branch, which is Holly Lodge. And even up to this day, I will always use the services at Highgate Library, for hiring out DVDs, PC printing and the photo copy machine. And I even reserve books and DVD from Highgate Library. Highgate Library is literally right next door to Highgate Cemetery, the place of Karl Marx's tomb.
