I stopped by this park yesterday afternoon to wear out my kids on the playground. I was stunned…read morethat the playground was completely empty and all to us! The playground equipment was all brand new and the area was mostly enclosed with a fence. Within this space, the play equipment is appropriate for kids 5 to 12 years old. The floor of the play area is rubberized for safety. There's a super tall slide that you have to climb up via webbed ropes (so not very easy for smaller kids unless they are avid climbers). The slide is not for super tall people. It has sharp turns inside it that cause you to knock against the sides as you go down (I know from experience). It also caused my 4.5-year-old daughter to lose one of her shoes two times she slid down. There's a giant spider-web-like climbing area for kids to play on, as well. There are a couple of benches for parents to sit on as they watch their kids. There is a smaller area off to the side for kids 2 to 5 years old that has sand, multiple spring riders (an animal, an airplane, and a car), a small Yogi-Bear see-saw, and a small slide with steps (though the steps are a bit steep). It's disappointing that this area is not fenced in - especially since it's for younger kids who tend to wander. Luckily, there's a bathroom facility building across from the playground and next to the tennis courts. There are two stalls inside the ladys' room, one sink, and a heated blow dryer. Outside the bathroom, there's a handy water-bottle-filling station. There's also a dog run area (next to the parking area that you enter from on Wade Avenue) with benches, trash cans, and a dog waste station. If you want to host a party or picnic, there's a picnic shelter you can rent for $12 an hour (it has 6 tables and can host anywhere from 36 to 60 people). There are 2 tennis courts that have push-button lighting that works from dusk to 10 pm year-round. If you like Sand Volleyball, there are 6 lighted volleyball courts to choose from (they are first-come, first-served). On Tuesday and Thursday nights during league play, courts 1-4 are unavailable from 6 to 11 pm. There are 2 softball fields and a youth baseball field. I highly recommend this park if you have kids!

Lots of parking and plenty of space for recreation. There are horseshoe pits, a basketball court, tennis court and a large well cared-for lighted baseball field. They do have a permanent structure with bathrooms. The fenced-in sand-based playground was in good shape, too. Several benches in the shade for parents to sit and watch. It looks like they have updated some of the equipment, which is nice. The location is kind of hidden, its in a residential area, tucked away. They have a basketball court, baseball fields and play equipment including swings. The landscaping is not a neat as the other nearby parks, so its hard to give more than 3 stars. The city does host a 4th of July festival here every year as it has lots of space. Overall, its a cute little park that never gets very busy.

As someone who is shorter, it's also nice that their pull-up bars aren't built too high. I really enjoy not having to jump up to a bar for once, and I bet kids could easily use them as well. I've seen a team of inspectors checking out the park and picking up trash while I was working out, it's definitely upkept.

On our continuous tour of Raleigh's parks we stopped by Baileywick Road Park one morning after breakfast to see what it was like. The 2-5 year old structure was perfect for the Tyne to play on. Three different slides offered good options for her to enjoy herself. She especially liked racing mom and dad down the side by side one. She needs to work on her "Ready. Set. Go!" as there were a lot of false starts and/or cheating on her part. She's young so I'll let it slide (ba dum dum). Back to the play structure, though. For younger ones there were a couple of slightly precarious points on it. The round step stools in particular. Fine for kids in the actual age range listed I'm sure, but younger climbers like ours would need some supervision on them. The "rock" steps were climbable for her, but a little more challenging than just plain old stairs. The larger structure was out of her league for the most part, but she was able to get up the stairs and use a couple of the slides. A few other highlights include swings for little ones and older kids. They have a sand pit with those digger machines that make me glad I'm not in construction. There is a picnic shelter and restrooms nearby. They have a number of benches around, at least one of which is covered. The ground cover is mulch as opposed to the spongy material used in a number of the other parks. There is also connection to the greenway, so bring your comfy shoes and stroller. If this park wasn't on the other side of town from home we'd probably hit it up more often, but for now it's a nice to know it's there if we're over that way and need to wear out a little someone before nap time.

They have a sizable restroom and lots of picnic tables under a pavilion. There are baseball fields and a paved walking path all the way around the park. They just installed a new fitness center for adults in the farthest field from the SRAC. My personal favorite is the playground with the pirate ship and rubber mats under all the equipment. My only complaint for today was that they had fresh mulch delivered, it looked like it was sitting, waiting to be spread and it was on top of one of the slides so the equipment couldn't be used. Other than that, it's a great park!

I highly don't recommend coming when they are cutting the grass. The people that cut the grass don't care if they hit ur car. I had a guy blowing the grass off the cement with the leaf blower and he would blow the air on my car mind you I was inside my car and he could see me. I had several tiny rock hit my car as he was blowing air into my car. I would think its common since if your using the weed eater or an leaf blower you have the use it so when u cut the grass nothing would fly onto the cars or the people but they don't care about that so there is grass, rocks and stick thrown up in the air which can hit a car or a person!
