I'm a Wells Fargo customer and have been for years. Originally, I liked this branch, because of the convenience of it being inside the Randall's when I needed quarters and the like for laundry day.
So there I am requesting cash from a teller, when she talks to me about a line of credit. I'm doing the polite, "I don't know," routine, which means no. I had a Starbucks craving I needed to satiate and being at a Randall's what a coincidence I could. One of the bankers asked if I would later want to talk to him about a line of credit and I told him that I would talk to him about it at a later date. That's it. Nothing more. I didn't throw my social security number at the guy and say, "Hey screw me over!" Lo and behold the teller who gave me the cash withdrawal I requested and the banker who tried to sell me on this line of credit decided to change my checking account to an interest bearing one I didn't ask for and opened up two loans in my name without my authorization a line of credit and another loan that needed a signature.
When I discovered the fraud weeks later I went to talk to that branch they were like, "There is no manager here," eyes wide open. It was clearly a scared manager. I had to go to the Wells Fargo brick and mortar bank across the street and talk to that manager, when I found out about the loan opened (I only knew about the line of credit) at the time.
It was such a huge fiasco a district manager was involved and because the situation wasn't resolved in a timely manner I contacted the consumer financial protection bureau, which in turn alerted Wells Fargo and they rectified the situation for me. I'm a freaking awesome customer. They're lucky I didn't ask for a stuffed pony. I probably should have as I was pretty reasonable throughout. Note to self, Wells Fargo owes me a stuffed pony.
I haven't gone back to check if the banker, teller, and manager were fired (one of the managers told me that was probable), but I do intend to check. Even if that entire staff is replaced I have no intention of ever returning there. I want to make clear I'm okay with Wells Fargo. I am not okay with the greedy conniving little jerks at this branch that almost damaged my credit.
Just don't go here. Save yourself time, money, and prevent damage to your credit. But if not, you owe me a freaking stuffed pony from Wells Fargo. I warned you! read more
